I found mine for $6 at my local nursery. Very happy to have it.
Oh my gosh, âLetâs just take a guess...â love your ability to gently allude to the offensive common name!!!
It wasnât meant to be offensive when it was named. And even if it was named that itâs because it was a Jew who condemn Jesus when he was walking with the cross. And thatâs where the name originally came from. And as a Catholic thatâs offensive
@@aelder1961 Wow. You really just said that. Itâs an offensive name, and Iâve gone from being impressed last year to being offended this morning, so good job highlighting this in honor of Easter. Yeesh.
I was so happy to get a beautiful costa farms nanouk for a Christmas gift. Thanks for helping me know how to care for it
I would love to see a video about all the different varieties of this plant. I recently got this plant and have it sitting on my kitchen counter under florescent lighting and it grows up like crazy. I have been able to propagate it several times in water already on my kitchen counter too, putting the propagations back in the pot to create a fuller plant. Once I had a full pot my propagations have been used to make more plants. I love the beautiful colors on these plants but the bright light seems to be a must for them to thrive. I also water mine when the pot starts to feel light and the dirt on top starts to look light too, not leaving any water in the drainage cup when watered.
you're so knowledgeable! And i love the struggstofunk cutaway!
Tradescantia is such a beautiful word and plant. Itâs my new favorite. I have 5 varieties đ„°
Girl you are non- stop with the knowledge! I am getting me a Nanouk. You are correct about the overwatering at that big box stores. I have found some plants there I have not found in my area but I didnât purchase because it was half dead and no longer worth the $20 price tag
You had a ton of great information! Thank you and God bless. I am subbing đđmy hubby just brought me home one of these plantsđ
I just got mine while on field trip last week and thank you for sharing thats a great information.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Excellent and informative video! Well done!! Many thanks.
Well done video sweety. Very clear instruction & informative. đ
New subscriber.
Great video, thank you!
Nice video, I would just add that it can be really tricky if your plant gets any pests since there are so many nooks to hide in. Also, Nanouk seem to be very sensitive to sprays including common homemade ones with neem or other oils, so my recommendation is to go with the systemic stuff at once.
Thanks so much. This was so helpful!
I just subbed and you went from 9.99 k to 10.000 subs đđ
Just got one of these & I thoroughly enjoyed how much detail & time you put into explaining everything. Thank you so much đđŒđđŒ
thank you for the help!
Just got one a week ago and I love it. Nice video
Nice! Enjoy your new plant baby! đȘŽ
I was wondering if I could put them in the same pot to make it fuller, I'm glad you said you would do exactly that!
must have overlooked that but will do now
Hello friend I love that plant too.
The variegation also is determined by how much light it gets. I have all the different colors of the tradescantia. And when it gets leggy I just cut it back to the size of the other ones and propagate it. They get roots very fast.
I've been trying to get a Tradescantia but I can't find them for sale where I'm from.. I ended up getting a cutting from the public gardens in my area. They are so beautiful I hope I can propagate them!
Hmm - I just got a nanouk a month or so ago and it's growing fast but horizontally, not up like yours. I turn the pot a quarter turn every day, so I don't think it's that it's trying to grow toward my window. Very interesting. Thanks for the video!
Thatâs interesting! Maybe itâs coz you have full pot?
@Jill Zwaanstra different kinds grow differently I would recommend looking up callisa repens bianca itâs beautiful. As for trailing growth rather than vertical it all just depend on sp. and on cultivar. Fun fact Nanouk can also refer to having rounder leaves from hormones that are injected into them.
It grows towards the light. If u put lights directly above it, it will grow vertically. After it gets too long it will trail
Hi can you show a tutorial on how you did the wall attached plants behind you .. since I donât have lots of space in my apart. I love that idea on your wall. Thanks
Yeah, sure! Iâll try to in future videos, but what I use is the Wally eco planter and virgoro ring planters. For the wire grid, I hang it on a picture frame, just make sure itâs nailed on a stud or has anchors, and using coil wires, I create ring planters for the plants.
I live in NYC and i got this plant more pinkish and more fuller with a ceramic vase for $15tax.
Nice plant. Itâs a very hardy plant and although it comes from Europe itâs still difficult to find. If you can look for the Tradescantia Yellow Hill. They all grow like a weed but are Beautiful in a hanging basket. They need bright light to develop the deep pink color. I do have it by the humidity but I do mist it often.
i have the pink zebrina which is beautiful, outside, in summer, but is struggling this winter. It doesn't like my growlights and wants a bright window that I don't have. Everytime I water I loose a piece because the stems seem so fragile...I have water jars of propagations all over. Nanouk is gorgeous. I will be watching for it in my local stores. Thanks for the content. I appreciate you.
Thanks Amelia! I had the same issue with the zebrina which is why I ended up selling it after a month, but the nanouk seems to be holding up pretty well!
@@MyWastelessLife Awesome I hope you enjoy it very much! I just love plants with some pink in them!
I found my nanouk at a Walmart in the early spring a year ago. It was extremely overwatered and most the leaves were mushy and the plant looked very unhealthy. I had bought one on line and it had roots but didnât make it no matter how much I babied it. I was desperate to get one so when I seen the one at Walmart I paid 16.99, hesitantly as it looked almost dead but where I live I had never seen one anywhere so I was willingly open to try and nurse this one back to health đ€. It did grow and got real leggy but due to the lack of plants in my area I didnât want to propogate it invade it died or other. It was becoming almost ugly with the legginess so I watched some u tubes to see the best way and started snipping. I must admit the original plant looks much better now but I had seen several ways to prop and was concerned I may have done it wrong direct soil and cutting them so short, each leg, until I seen your video the day after. Thanks, with your excellent explanation of this plant I feel like you really know what youâre talking about from experience and I felt better about how I did prop it. Hopes now they grow as I got three nice plants started from my cuttings! Thanks again..
Another great video! Do you ever consider making vlog type videos?
The one Iâm posting on Monday is vlog-ish...I like doing vlogs but itâs hard when Iâm just stuck at home, I feel like theyâll just be boring and repetitive. Hopefully when I can travel again, I do miss doing vlogs for my plantiful cities series!
Hi. Was there an update on this? I am wanting to make mine fuller so Iâm wondering how this worked out?
Zebrinaâs are so hardy where I live. I have mine grow outside during cool/hot seasons only bringing it in at wintertime. I have to say I only killed one Zebrina and that happened because it had a clogged water drainage hole and it got waterlogged.
Does it branch out if you pinch the top?
Purchased 2/$5 at Produce Junction
Nice! Thatâs a steal!
Can you do a video on the different tradescantia varieties and how to tell them apart? I like how thorough your pothos video went into detail and I bought two different tradescantias but now Iâm confused which variety I got because one looks so similar to two types.
i thought about doing one, i'll see if i can, i just don't have a large tradescantia collection right now like i do with my pothos, but i'll see what i can do!
Yes great idea. I just got my first one which is white and green only. No purple đ€·
Mam what soil using iam a biggner
Suresh India mam i need soil mix please
I got mine for $5.99 at a grocery store
Wheres the army that will stop me from propagating it?
lol thatâs true!!! How will they know?! But I think itâs more for people who also sell their plants, and fair warning for anyone in case these large plant/farming corporations tries to make an example out of them
Thatâs my thinking plants are made to be shared not kept controlled by multi million/billion dollar companies. Trademarking living things is wrong!! But maybe Iâm just a crazy plant person.
You can propagate for your own use when it is under patent. You canât propagate for sale.
Strugs to func đđ
I don't think the name wandering jew is why its snubbed...its just a finicky weed. Lol and its just common.
