hey @chewwy94 great vid! don't want to nit pick-was wondering why you were applying a roll input on engine failure as opposed to rudder application? does the dash 8 use a TAC of any sort? what are the Flybe procedures on an engine failure on rotate? thanks! :D
Aiden Bradley the engines are so powerful rudder alone is not sufficient to keep her straight and level. So the rudder and ailerons are needed into the live engine.
Nice work! You seem to have acted professionally. The only mistake I have noticed is that you ignored the papi lights during landing. You were dangerously close to the trees.
How do you Pre program the failure? I'm a Dash 8 Pilot and use Majestic for emergency training ahead of sim checks. Didn't realise you could get it to do this. Great video fella!
Hello Tim. The failure event was triggered from the system panel where I created special command for the engine failure. The current Pro version doesn't really support triggering failures that well as that's planned to have full support on the Training edition. However you have the resources currently to create yourself the scenarios for failures by some simple scrip coding. So if you want things like engine failures/fires, or anything really you have to build it yourself. majestic provides some documentation on it currently and some help can be found from the forums as well. Hopefully that helps a bit you. Simulators are a good way to practice failures and definitely help with the sim checks, especially if you get a friend in the same cockpit to make the crew management realistic. /Nic
Hey Chewwy could you please make a video on how to set your joystick as a tiller (I don't know if I spelt it right) thanks so much I am so confused about how you do it😀
You need to look closer at the takeoff roll. When the engine fails after v2 the aircraft tries to bank dramatically to the right, which I counter with moving my joystick to the left. When the autopilot is in place the aircraft can handle losing one engine by manipulating the control surfaces to maintain level flight.
I noticed you were adjusting your ailerons as you entered the runway, as if to correct for crosswind, but it wasn't kept on the actual takeoff, so that's not right. Was that on purpose?
MillionFoul That may have been me utilising the joystick as a tiller to taxi onto the runway. Once on takeoff role the rudder pedals are used. I think that's what you're referring to? If not let me know :)
Chewwy94 I think, maybe? All I know is that ailerons can be positioned to help counter crosswind, and you just slowly pull out the correction as your airspeed picks up on the takeoff roll. Was simply wondering if that's why you can see the yoke turning as you line up for the runway.
MillionFoul I'm pretty sure it is just me using the joystick as a control surface for the tiller whilst taxiing as the rudder in the Q400 doesn't allow much movement at all at taxi speeds.
Thanks. I know Predrag good but I don't get textures like you have with 0.95 or 1.00 Beta. Is it possible to add you on Facebook? Are you a friend of Predrag? Then I could find you. :)
James Dunlop Planespotting v1 is the point of no return . Vspeeds are automatically calculated so when you hear v1 you have to fly the plane regardless of situation
I was talking to my Twitch chat, which had almost 200 concurrent viewers in. I may be the captain in the flightdeck but this is just a bit of fun, not the real thing, I am also keeping the viewers up to date as any broadcaster should do. Both myself and my co-pilot went through this scenario a few times just to work out dynamics and we were both happy with how we handled it. Thanks for the comment all the same.
You are right, I did all the work with the emergency checklists and procedures. That's how it's supposed to be. But I didn't do all the work at all with the emergency. Crew management in emergency situations is essential. First thing you always want to do is to fly the plane, that's what pilot flying does, unless Captain takes over the control. So one pilot focuses on keeping the plane in air while the other pilot takes the QRH out and does the procedures explained there. After that pilots discuss about options and what they want to do. It's all about CRM. Thanks for the comment anyways. /Nicrative
It was pre-programmed yes so a surprised reaction wouldn't have been legitimate. A lot of people on my stream have asked me to perform failures, so myself and a friend decided to create a scenario and rehearse the QRH to add some variety to a stream :)
Do you mind sourcing your specific evidence to back this up? Please also remember this is a CZcams video of a Flight Simulator... I don't take myself that seriously to waste my day worrying about those types of things.
Joan Pons, what you're talking about is called "ditching." Anytime water is involved that is the terminology. Calling this an emergency landing is 100% accurate. An emergency landing is simply a diversion to the nearest air field. Then you have forced landing which is putting the plane down anywhere you can.
The only sentence I could think of while watching this was "props 900 please Matt" XD
TheRocketeer *Virgin atlantic a330 smashes into the ground*
*Cessna Caravan trying to land*
The A330 is the absolut funniest thing in the whole video
Omg yes
Yes ha ha ha the virgin a330 tho
Next time on air crash investigation......
Thts wht i was thinking
Only flaps 10, go around? *Nope*
Thanks for having me again flying shared cockpit. Really enjoyed the flights yesterday!

lol its like you bounce in the chair in anticipation of landing :D
That was a nice landing, never seen the full procedure. Keep it up!
Cheers from Portugal!
Smithsonian channel: “were brighter here”
Very nice love the face at lift off as your struggling with the joystick lol.
Nice Video :) Good Crew Ressource Management ;) Subscribed!
Nicely done - very professional!
Very interesting, great work keep it up!!
Are you shaking on the chair while landing?
I usually bounce my left leg up and down without even realising a lot of the time...no idea why. Weird right?!
ZakariyaTV streammmmmm again ;)
I have the same thing.. I understand you ;-)
ZakariyaTV btw check Skype 😜
just what i do!
I always thought that V2 was decision speed. I learned something today.
V2 is the speed required to stay in the air without stalling
That's is extremely wrong, don't confuse people plz
V2 is the speed at which a plane can safely climb with an engine failure.
From cabin crew myself, this is fantastic CRM and very professional!!!!
2700th sub! Gg dude
The level of accuracy is phenomenal guys...
what type of chair are you sitting in? does it shake like that on its on or are you nervous? ...makes me nervous.
Good CRM ....well done!!

OBS Studio
this guy makes it so realistic wow
Nice video!!!!

He was flying the ILS, in fact, he was only slightly below gs according to ILS.
This is quite well done graphically. But this was a routine EL, no drama.

Jouka Ahponen cheers for this! Got the practice I needed after all! Had to shut an engine down departing from Glasgow last week. Fun fun fun!
Safe travels where are you flying from and going to

awesome CRM
What stick and throttle set are you using Matt?
If the right engine is down shouldn't the plane be rolling to the right?????
You need to look closer at the takeoff roll. When the engine fails after v2 the aircraft tries to bank dramatically to the right, which I counter with moving my joystick to the left. I just subscribed
Chewwy94 nice take off and landing. I've noticed you used non normal checklists. Were they for DH8D? Could you either share or give the source? thanks
Majestic website is always a good place to start :)

this guy is crazy
Engine 2 is out.
Hey Chewy, what clouds do you use?
Should’ve tried a barrel roll in it

Okay, I don't know your specific setup, was just curious.
So how can I program the failure at different positions ¿ with fsx

what kind of joystick are you using there ?
Thrustmaster Warthog .. A-10 replica. One of the best sticks out there
how do u make live streaming + copilot
Just crashed into Lowi exact plane lol
Shit that is a nice aircraft
Did u rig this or is there random problems
that guy sounds like a finn
Your "pan" call is wrong, Matt. It is done "Panpan, panpan, panpan!". And here "pan" is pronounced as pun in punish!
is the co-pilot Jouka Ahponen? :D

I'm afraid I don't use Facebook to discuss anything to do with my CZcams or Twitch channel, sorry bro.
Chewwy94 no problem. What's about skype or email? Would be beautiful.

No attempt to restart the engine?
how are you doing the shared cockpit
JNLN it's p3d I don't have but I know u can
francis mcginn I found out how I play on fsx
Like your videos, been watching for months. Come join us in 2016 on X-Plane :)
I’m late but what provider is this aircraft by
Majestic Software. Just search up Majestic Software Bombadier Q400. There are three different versions of it on the website.
Is the thing in your left hand a throttle lever
Yes
LB967 it's his penis :) what do you think it is lol
Lewis Ferry lol
who was your copilot?
but chewwy if you have all engines out after V1 you should atemot an abort
James Dunlop Planespotting v1 is the point of no return . Vspeeds are automatically calculated so when you hear v1 you have to fly the plane regardless of situation
Was it done on purpose or was it just chance?
David Wood Purpose
Ifly 777 thought so
FSX or Xplane 11?
Neither. P3D (as it says in the title) ;)
Chewwy94 Opps didn't see that, sorry buddy. Great video!

Overall good but less public announcement and more helping the other pilot... he did all the work

you watch too much Belenz lol
What plane?

when he said autothrottle of i was confused because doesnt the Q-400 not have an autothrottle system
was this a pre-programmed failure? You did not look surprised at all.
It was pre-programmed yes so a surprised reaction wouldn't have been legitimate. A lot of people on my stream have asked me to perform failures, so myself and a friend decided to create a scenario and rehearse the QRH to add some variety to a stream :)
Fair enough :)
If only you could stop constantly scraping your nose... :-P
Genuinely don't even realise I am doing it...sorry!
Chewwy94 nice vid
Zsolt Monostori well everyone does it
Who are you talking to lol
The co-pilot???.....
I mean is it a real person or
Yes?! It's not a robot hahaha
Chewwy94 how to talk with a real co pilote please
Get a friend to be your copilot
thats fake
Well I'm sat at home on my computer playing in a simulator, of course it's fake?...
This is not an emergency landing, an emergency landing has to be performed in a river, bridge, forest... not in a runway.
Do you mind sourcing your specific evidence to back this up? Please also remember this is a CZcams video of a Flight Simulator... I don't take myself that seriously to waste my day worrying about those types of things.
lol he lost one of two engines. How is that not an emergency?
Joan Pons Landing on not a runway would be a crash landing. This is 100% an emergency landing.

I’d check before you say anything an emergency landing is on a runway. A forest is a definite crash
