I am a prog tech-metal drummer and Broadcast is probably made my favorite records of this century. They were wholly unique, they evoked feelings and moods and atmospheres in me that nothing else has even come close to. Truly are rare masterpiece to have the privilege of hearing. I also have very distinct and vivid memories of doing hard opiates while it was snowing outside, coming back inside lighting a candle and laying in bed while Broadcast played through my surround sound stereo. I wouldn’t recommend it, but if you find yourself there, listen to tunes like “Echoes Answer” “Small Song” and especially “Accidentals”, those moments are precious to me. I’m not sure a human has ever felt as warm as I was those nights. Alone in the dark hearing Trishs’ ghost. Anytime I lose faith in music as an art form, I can always return to Broadcast and my faith is beyond restored.
"Echo's Answer" and "Accidentals" are among my favorite Broadcast songs. I understand what you mean by the way the music makes you feel. Both are hauntingly beautiful. It's strange how comfortable I feel when listening to both.
Trish was, as a singer, songwriter and human bieing, in the very top tier. Especially, given what I know about her, as a person. She was simply fantastic.
Great band, R.I.P. Trish. "The Noise Made By People" is one of my favorite albums of any genre. I would recommend it to anyone. It has such a wide range of sonic bliss, fans of music in general will like it. Thanks for posting this...great version.
They had a fantastic drummer at this point. I was told by someone who knew the band that he had to leave because the band didn't generate enough money.
Trish harmonising it simply and rather beautifully, via synth - she was so much more than "just" a songwriter and vocalist, she was hugely active in the live shows too, be it by synth or guitar. Trish did everything, no offense, James. You were as important as her in the band but she was incredible.
a band with far more depth is the more probable reason for an oversight by the stale music media, but yes, Trish seems less interested in being a sex symbol though I'm sure if she wanted it could have been manufactured as is usually the case.
You can also see Roj Stevens own mixing board and equipment to his left. He probably mixed all the keyboards on his own and had some sort of keyboard interface to take care of his and Trish's soft-synth midi stuff.
seems you nailed it. delta's sound so good. i always wondered what software they used, no way they were lugging all that vintage equipment all over the world.
Sexing it up wouldn't have worked with her persona. She was an oracle, not a temple prostitute. EDIT 2020: scroll down to dirkbogarde44 to see the comment I was replying to. There was some kind of glitch in the comments and it looks like I'm bringing up her "sex appeal" out of nowhere.
who asked? what compelled you to even bring up sex appeal? a woman can sing on stage in a turtle neck and some man won't resist the urge to mention something about her looks
Look how unassuming they are. No-one is acting nor dressed provocatively, yet that unadorned voice is utterly bewitching, as is the music itself entirely convincing.
I imagine they didn't break into the mainstream as much as say St Etienne or Goldfrapp because Trish lacked either Sarah or Alison's sex appeal, even though she prob had a better voice than either.

thinking of you today on yr birthday, trish. chord simple forever!
Imagine going to see Godspeed You! Black Emperor-and these guys hit the stage as opener. Unforgettable show!
That must have been a good show. Sigur Ros were supporting one time when I saw GYBE.
@@soulbrotherjimmy incredible show, nice!
Wow!- 2 of the best bands ever in their prime!
That drum kit sounds so beautifully classic! Works perfectly with such a haunting song
What a fantastic band. Trish Keenan had such a beautiful and unassuming voice and presence. Very much missed.

Same. I adore that album
“fans of music in general will like it “ , wot fckn insight , ever been tae glasto
Gutted that I never got to see them live. They were due to play in Singapore but then Trish was taken ill and passed. Such a loss.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN HAIR
Trish Keenan l Never Forget You and your voice is every night at sleeping time
I still loving you Trish
how I love the drumming in the instrumental half !!
They had a fantastic drummer at this point. I was told by someone who knew the band that he had to leave because the band didn't generate enough money.
This is such a good song and performance
Broadcast at their very very best! Love how one song blends into the next...
If I were a song, it would be probably this one
Album of the Day:
Noise Made By People

Musical perfection. That's all.
RIP Trish Keenan ♥️

❤
RIP Trish. I get chills hearing her sing this song. Drums sound great but keys are mixed a bit too loud. Still great performance.
what a loss.......5 years today.....
Yes...such a loss. Such greatness,
Still can't believe it. They were destined for greatness
10 years ago now RIP
I think it was the last thing she cared about - the music was always first.
can someone tell me what synths are being used
Trish is using a Roland Pc-180 midi synth and so is Roj stevens. I believe Roj is also using a Jen Synthetone and Korg Delta.
You can also see Roj Stevens own mixing board and equipment to his left. He probably mixed all the keyboards on his own and had some sort of keyboard interface to take care of his and Trish's soft-synth midi stuff.

..anyone know who the drummer is?
Keith York. Awesome drumming.
Sexing it up wouldn't have worked with her persona. She was an oracle, not a temple prostitute.

+Johnny Catsup That is the most PERFECT analogy.
who asked? what compelled you to even bring up sex appeal? a woman can sing on stage in a turtle neck and some man won't resist the urge to mention something about her looks
she was unique, as in one of a kind
Look how unassuming they are. No-one is acting nor dressed provocatively, yet that unadorned voice is utterly bewitching, as is the music itself entirely convincing.
Pay attention kids, now THAT is musical genius. Not that Pop crap from the Grammys.
I love the late rise on this. J Holland apart from Knarls Barkley and Nathanneil Rateliff is a waste of broadcasting space
I imagine they didn't break into the mainstream as much as say St Etienne or Goldfrapp because Trish lacked either Sarah or Alison's sex appeal, even though she prob had a better voice than either.
