SERIES SYNOPSIS: Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: WTF Happened To This Horror Movie?

#Amityville 2 #wtf #joblohorror - Krátké a kreslené filmy
This is actually my preferred "Amityville" movie because it really just jumps right in and goes for it.
agree.
It’s so good.
I agree!!!
it sure does
I agree and also Diane Franklin
I'm a huge horror geek and this is one of the few horror movies that still genuinely scares me. From the aesthetic, to the tone, to the music, to the fact that this movie went way farther and way darker than most do
This was the ONE movie that freaked me out as a kid. The scene where the Walkman starts talking to him made me stop listening to mine at night for months 😂 I have such a soft spot for this movie
~ "WHY DIDN'T YOU PULL THE TRIGGER?...WHY DIDN'T YOU SHOOT THAT PIG?....
My mother told me to watch this movie as it scared the heck out of her (I was only familiar with the first one) and she said the exact same thing, stopped using headphones for months 😂
Samething for me
Same.
Lol me too. I had to sleep in my brother's bed with him for about a week 🤣
Dreadful and disturbing and genuinely frightening, like easily one of the most underrated horror movies of the 1980s.
I saw this in The Bronx movie theater, Lowes Paradise. When it was done, everyone was silent and didnt move. To this day, i dont think ive ever experienced that from a horror film.
Better than the original. This one is so damn good! The pace is perfect.
I'm agree
I remember trying to watch this as a kid, but being too scared. I finally watched it later as a teenager and I just remember how disturbing I thought it was. That family was a mess, but the thought of a demon possessing the boy and causing him to do those terrible things was just so jarring.
@@buddrossi6451 scary for sure.
Amityville 2 the possession and the Amityville murders are the only 2 Amityville movies I like
Yeah, the original didn't go far enough.
The creepy hand in the crawlspace scene always freaked me out. Whose hand is that? What is going on that room? Why odes no one care about all that mess?
I’m glad people are beginning to notice this film again. I saw this when I was a kid and I thought it was better than the first movie because it scared the crap out of me. Really this movie still holds up pretty well it’s still creepy AF.
The actor who played Sonny, he looked a lot like a young Malcolm McDowell!
Uncle Paulie jumped from Rocky to Amityville flawlessly I'm sure it's the same universe 🤣
U should check out the movie the Amityville murders cuz Burt young and Diane Franklin are both in it.
@@melissawinn996 I've seen it a hundred times hence me commenting 🤣👀
Omg. This movie terrified me I had nightmares for YEARS about him coming down the stairs with that gun.
One of my favourite scenes in this is when the camera / demon exits from the dripping room in the basement and makes its way through the house , covering the crucifix in the dining room with a tablecloth . Great video , didn't know about the deleted scenes .
YESSSsss! Love the sound decisions in that scene too
The incest angle wasn’t made up, though it wasn’t rooted in fact. Some, though I don’t know who, had commented after the Lutzes moved out that Ronnie and his sister Dawn had had an incestuous relationship. I have no idea who could’ve been privy to that and I doubt the family’s relatives would’ve circulated or confirmed something of that nature. I’m not sure where it came from, but that is the reason it’s in the movie. Personally, I found it revolting.
That was such a good ghost scene. Top notch! Creeps galore.
@@dzanier doesn't phase me, it is horror genre, it belongs in that genre to go dark, just like with the themes that movies like Silence of the Lambs and Se7en features. I'd say the scene in Se7en with the sin "lust" is what disturbs me more. Brutal.
The incest in Amittyville 2 however, yes I have heard of the rumors about Ronnie and Dawn, but considering a demonic possession would massacre an entire family, I wouldnt put it past it to seduce a family member when that family member is religious. The demon enjoyed that in more ways than one. Storywise it fits theme and genre.
From the moment we hear the demon growl, I was scared. The book scared me, and first movie actually didn't, nor did any of the 30 sequels.
Amityville Vibrator was pretty scary
Just seeing Diane Franklin in her birthday suit is enough to enjoy this movie😁
would love to see what ended up on cutting room floor too....
That scene really jump started my puberty when I first saw this movie at age of 5 and I immediately had a crush on her 😂
She’s the only reason why I even watched Better Off Dead and Last American Virgin. Lol
This is absolutely the best in the entire series. It is so underrated it’s ridiculous. Ever since I was a kid this movie is so unsettling.
This one hits you right in the face. For early 1980s and a mainstream picture, this has some disturbing content. I was only a little kid in ‘82, but I can imagine this being talked about as a movie to go see if you were a teen or just wanted to have the hell scared out of you. I can only imagine how intense this was seeing it on the big screen back then.
@@buddrossi6451 Totally hear you. DEFINIETLY has disturbing content and subject matter. So many scary visuals too - like when the demon sees the crucifix and growls and covers it with the table cover. Or the hellish looking secret room in the basement with demons walking toward the door. OMG as a kid it scared me to the core.
It is still unsettling to watch as an old middle aged adult lol
@@buddrossi6451 Yup, hits u in the face like a shotgun blast or demon vomit.
This is by far the best one in the series.
💯
In my opinion, hands-down the best Amityville movie out there. Not only is the pace and effects on point, but the actors do a great job of accurately conveying one of the most antagonistically emotional situations, domestic abuse, in itself a playground for brute evil.
The pace is perfect, something that is not very well handled nowadays.
The cinematography for this film was phenomenal. I love the part where we have pov of being the entity following Sonny around the house and eventually pinning him down against the bed and possessing him. The music, lightning, set pieces, acting (mostly) and the house itself contributes so much to the eerie atmosphere this film has.
It’s easily my favorite Amityville film!
My top 3 is Amityville II: The Possession, The Amityville Horror 1979 and Amityville 1992: It’s About Time. 🤘🏻👻🤘🏻
saw this opening night and till this day it still scares the crap out of me! the music and the amazing choreographed murder scene is just CHILLING!
I actually like this one more than the original...I used to rent it all the time when I was a young teenager.nicely done!
The original left out a lotta stuff that was in the book. The book was way scarier.
When the father & son reconcile at the son’s birthday party… that hits hard when you consider what happens later in the movie.
Yeah, when he gives each member of his family a hug in that scene, it’s extremely sad because it’s like he’s saying goodbye to them, not even realizing what will soon happen.
@@ricardorivera5854 I never really thought about it as a goodbye hug, but you’re totally on point with that observation. Thanks for the response. Kinda changes the dynamic of that scene for me. Really awesome movie. 🔥🔥🔥
You’re welcome. And yes, it is a great movie!
This is what happens when Paulie is put in the Amityville house.
Nothing wrong with this movie other then it was ahead of it's time. When I saw it in the movie theatre I remember how uncomfortable I was with the incest rap@, and the child abuse scenes, and back then I was not familiar with the Defeo case so when Sonny killed his entire family including the children I was shocked, I've never seen that before in a horror movie, and this was in the early 80's.
I do think is the best in the series.
Incest rap? This movie IS ahead of it's time.
@@dr.loomis4221 _Oh Dr. Loomis do behave yourself!_ 🤣
This movie was slated by critics at the time as a mess which simply jumped on the Exorcist bandwagon, taking advantage of that movie’s popularity by ripping it off.
But as a young horror fan I really liked it. When i had seen the Exorcist I remember thinking “I wish there were more horror movies like this”, and Amityville II delivered on that wish. 😆
But seriously, I thought the movie did have a genuinely unsettling and disturbing atmosphere, the acting was great, and the special effects were above average for that time. Lamberto Bava’s “Demons” copied some of the special effects pioneered in this film.
Overall, I think it’s a solid horror classic, and agree with Ebert that it was better than the first movie.
Easily my favorite Amityville film.
The worst thing you can say about a horror movie is that it’s not scary enough. When I watch horror, I wanna be horrified. I actually saw Amityville 2 before Amityville 1, and I was genuinely disturbed by it. Normally I’m not affected by creature design and people in prosthetics. Whenever I see those things it’s ”ok that person looks abnormal, and is supposed to be the scary part of the movie, got it.” But I don’t really get scared. In Amityville 2, when Sonny goes through the final transformation after room spin-around, I was actually startled by what his face turned into. The actor also has the most sadistic, twisted grin, and that helped a lot.
Amityville 1 had none of those things. It was tame in comparison, which I guess means that less is not always more as they say. There is also the trope of ”what you don’t see is scarier than what you do see”. Amityville 2 disproves that too. It proves that you can get scared out of your wits by visuals, if they’re done right.
Yeah when he grins and widens his eyes he looks rather terrifying. Other than that he is a nice chap.
Hands down the creepiest of the Amityville series.
This movie is awesome, scared the crap out of me even more than the 1st one did, I think it's one of the most underrated sequels in horror. I will also say, the Lutz' are total hoax scammers imo.
It's a prequel
💯!
So r the Warrens.
This one is really underrated Genuinely creepy and disturbing with some great scenes and imagery.
One of the best despite being very dark. Very well made. The fact they all have to die including the children to tie in with the awful reality is the hardest part upon reflection as a film.
Actually as a kid this movie absolutely terrified me and that music STILL gets me at nearly 50!!
I remember this movie. I saw this after I had just finished reading The Amityville Horror and about the original murders. I remember seeing Diane Franklin in later movies and TV shows.
This is one of the early uncomfortable horror movies that dealt with some dark, human issues as opposed to the more flashy horror of the first film. That incest scene really creeped me out.
On a side note, everywhere in the US is a Native American burial ground. Rituals varied from nation to nation and from tribe to tribe, from tossing the body into a ravine to putting the body in a tree to building a funerary cabin to the famous mounds.
Michael Waller , yeah that That incest scene was strange but since this movie was based on the Real life Defeo Murders at the Real Aimityville house.......one of the rumors of that murder was Ronny Defeo not only killing his family but supposeably had an affair with his oldest sister Dawn...who also was rumored to help him kill the family..........it was all rumors and never proven.
This film scared the shit out of me as a young lad.
I ain't gonna lie...I wasn't ready for all the possessed shots of Sonny popping up randomly through this video hahah
I tell anyone, the sequence with the eldest son being POSSESSED and then stalking around killing his siblings is creepy as F.
I feel like Part 2 is actually better than the OG
it is. not bigger names, but better movie. I'm not Catholic so scary movies have never worked on me.
I agree. This one really creeped me out as a kid. Plus Diane Franklin 😍😍😍
Very true I totally agree, much darker than the first
@@harrypothead42024 were the names James brolin and Margot kidder really that big? Seriously?
@@Cazz8203 compared to anybody in the second movie?
Man, both The Amityville Horror I and II are definitely films that can put people on edge. Even the fly room in my opinion is one of those scenes that I still feel fear whenever flying insects like Flies and Bees would live in someone's house.
This is the best Amityville movie. Hands down. This used to come on HBO back in 83 and it scared the crap out of my friends and I yet we would watch it again the next time it dropped
Out of all of em...1982's "Amityville 2: The Possession" was the one that kept you thinking about that creepy piano theme as the camera wandered through that cold dark house...And of course the stunning "Diane Franklin" whom that same year did "The Last American Virgin" alongside "Lawrence Monoson" aka "Teddy" from "Friday The 13th Pt.4"....The Walkman bit...and the bit where Father Adamski was stood in the cold late one night...[days after the killings] and "that piano music creeped in"...and the bloody door creaks open and Trish was stood there staring at him in her white nightie with the ethereal mist behind her. You're left thinking it's either:
1) Trish's Soul Trapped In The House...or
2) It's The House Projecting An Image In his Mind To Screw With Him....
The set for the house was spot-on...I reckon they went back to where the first one was and used that again, as it looked identical, as does the inside....New TUBI documentary called: Famously Haunted: Amityville (2021) It blows the lid on what "actually" happened. Ronnie DeFeo recently died in prison...but in an interview from around 8/10 yrs ago...he admitted his bent lawyer got him to plead insanity by possession, and that he'd make a shit-ton of money from in prison. He went for it [knowing full what he'd really done] which was to try and merely get away with murder. Then...the same bent-lawyer got the Lutz's to play along, and then the author's and movie directors came, and the rest is history....
Your right. The first three movies were filmed at the same location in Toms River, New Jersey. A facade was added to an existing house to make it look like the actual house in Amityville. Long Island.
I remember watching this when I was nine and it frightened the shit out of me. Its the first Amityyvile I saw, and I had no idea what is was - a very nice scary surprise indeed. What a great horror movie, highly underated and better than the first - the first is still very good though. I would love to see an uncut version, that would be amazing and have such an unbelievable impact.
I've watched so many horror movies but this one managed to scare the shit out of me
Great video!
This was my favorite of the original three films . Thanks for posting👍
Very dark and creepy film. That’s how I like my horror movies. Love it
This is my favorite one in the franchise because of how it gets straight to the kills
I first saw this movie as a kid and it genuinely terrified me.
As a horror fan, this was up there among my favorites!
A prequel before prequel was an everyday word.
Interesting fact is that Amityville 2 takes place between Rocky 2 and Rocky 3, and details Paulie’s descent into alcoholism 😮
This was the only Amityville movie that I couldn't simply shrug off, and kept thinking about it days after. That makes it the best in the long running, occasionally decent series for me..
Took me 30 years to stop thinking something was going to come out of my closet and go through my belly button, I've been mentally scared by this film my whole life and by zombies but that's a whole different story.😱🤢👹👺, my parents have a lot to answer for.
Wow! Apparently there's an "un-edited" version of this movie out there? They should release a "director's cut" of this film!
You guys are killing it with ALL your content!! Love the WTF stuff the most tho!
Thanks for the continued support!
I always preferred this over the first one!! 🍿
One of the few films to scare the shit out of me. The others being Demons and the end scene in Slaughter High.
To me it really is my favourite Amityville movie 👍
This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time, and best Amityville movie ever. By a long shot.
So much is on-point with this movie: the camera work, the atmosphere, the music, the house, and even the makeup…the demon scenes toward the end. This Italian director knew what he was doing for sure. My main critique is that I wish we’d have had a little more backstory and character development of the Montelli family. However, the movie would have been much longer.
This movie still creeps me out,the children singing in the background and that creepy music made it terrifying to me. Yeah this movie still holds up today good flick but creepy/ scary!👍
This one didn't get aired much when I was growing up. Parts 1 & 3 got run frequently on TV through the 80s & 90s. Part 2 is so hardcore they mostly skipped it for TV airing 👎.
Was all kinds of excited to see this title on this show. LOVE this flick.
The daughters chest are two very good reasons to watch this movie Dudes...................
One of the best horror films of 80,s is a perfect adult horror film fantastic acting brilliant special effects and the music is very creepy 9 out 10 for me PJ👍
A truly horrifying movie. The acting and the sets and especially the music are top notch. It's genuinely creepy. The scene in the prison cell sent shivers down my spine when I was young teenager
I actually like this movie way more than the original
it would have been nice to find out what happened to the priest eventually , like was he saved or did he remain possessed in some institution
Saw it on cable but the "love scene" and his face coming apart towards the end is all I somewhat remember.
HUGELY UNDERRATED 👏🏾🎬🍿
"Hey, Dad. The new car is fantastic. You should have seen it at the red light. A guy was stepping on the accelerator. So I put the pedal to the metal." lol, I always crack up at that scene
This scared the shit out of me as a kid. It's a movie that I then bought in 1995 but still haven't re-watched it! I'm sure it's not as scary as I remember but I just can't bring myself to rewatch 😂
I just rewatched after watching a new interview here in CZcams of Diane Franklin. It’s still very uncomfortable, unnerving and scary. This film is terribly underrated.
The 1st person view of his head spinning with his neck breakin sounds to his possessed face...Scared tha bejezzuz out of me as a kid OMG holy shyt that worked...😂😂😂
Thanks to the Joblo Horror Originals comment section here, I went and watched the movie. I had only seen the OG film and the remake. I was always fascinated by the case so since I am always looking for more hidden gems from previous years, I got to watch this movie and yep it is amazing requel, or it can just stand on the strength of its own merit. Very ballsy movie to go so dark. Bravo to all involved with it.
Cheers to the comment section here too 🍻
The best possession movie, and one of the best horror movies ever made, and terribly overlooked. Fact
THE SLOW MOTION OPENING with the fall leaves and that HAUUUUUUUUUUUNTING HAUNTING SINGING!!! CHILLLLLLS PEOPLE!!! CHILLLLS!!!!!
I think I was about 8 years old when I saw this. My mum had let us watch the first one on TV and this came on the next weekend. As we hadn't gotten too scared with the first she let us watch this one. It scared the crap out of me 😅 I remember feeling quite ill after it and the fear lingered for a long time. I haven't seen it since 😬😅
I remember yelling at the TV...."He Shot Paulie! Rocky's gonna beat the crap out of this demon!"
Even tho i was born a decade later, this movie.. F*CKED. ME. UP. as a kid. I was about 9, my bro who was 5 yrs younger was watching this with my mom. After watching this, I remember locking our basement door, had the radios unplugged, EVERY night for 2 months
🙋🏾♀️🤧😂
100 times scarier than the first. I saw them both when they first came out as a kid.
It was waaaay better than the original. Scared the heck out of me as a kid.
this was actually my favorite one out of all of them
The best Amityville of the entire franchise!
This one is the best of the series. Burt young with a shot gun his children putting plastic bags over there heads plus brother and sister sleeping together........what's not to love. Oh and it still holds up today as a solid horror film.
I personally have a love/hate relationship with this video. I think that this was one of the first horror movies that I watched and loved as a real young kid, then when I got a little bit older, I watched the original and ended up loving that one as well and sorta forgot about watching the sequel years earlier. Once I found out that the original had a sequel, we ended up watching them back to back where I ended up hating it because of the continuity.
I need to rewatch all of the Amityvilles and see how I feel about them now!
Have you seen I think its the 4th movie about the haunted lamp? It's honestly a complete hoot 😂
The best of the saga, for me. It Is solid in every aspect, and the effect Aren t a Mere show off, but they are functional to the story
This is definitely my favorite of the series.
I'm not saying twenty-year-olds should be pressured by movie Producers. What I am saying is 20 year olds should not have a parent or a chaperone making decision for them. she was twenty. And she handled herself very well. she's also the only actual actor in this movie.
I was thinking the same thing. She's 20, a legal adult she obviously handled it herself.
Awesome!
As a kid this movie scared the hell out of me. I’m still bothered now 😂
Actress diane Franklin later came back to the franchise in 2018 of the amityville murders where she was now mrs defeo
Great analysis! Amityville The Possession is a much better movie than the much-ballyhooed first one. I personally thought "Amityville Horror" was a rather bland movie, relying too much on the "boo!" factor. And really all you got in that movie is Margot Kidder looking scared all the time, and James Brolin freaking out. And just a shot or two of some glowing eyes through a window. "Possession" on the other hand, is deeply disturbing on a psychological level. As you have what at first appears to be an outwardly normal family, that hides some dark secrets. And isn't it those factors that MAKE a good horror movie?
yes 👍
A truley erie disturbing movie . Fab casting especially with the father. A fab movie.
In Sweden they named part 1 ''The House God Forgot'' ..in Swedish ''Huset Som Gud Glömde''
Great isn't it? ...Much better than the Original Title.
Whatever critics say, "Amityville II" is still the best and most terrifying episode of the whole serie. And it's soundtrack, wow, terrifying.
R.I.P. Burt Young!
I saw it a few times and it's so enjoyable I wanna see it again!
This is why I don’t listen to movie critics this movie was creepy and entertaining. I watched it in the theater and rented from Blockbuster when it came out on VHS.
Movie critics are harsh on horror movies. They were likely snobbing them because the horror movies won over the audiences than the drama social commentary films did back in the day haha
I believe the Amityville movie 1 or 2 breathtaking and very scariest movies of all time
Yeah this is actually better than the first one. I remember it really freaked me out the first time I ever saw it
This movie was traumatic for me as a kid
I love this film! We would get stoned and watch it back in the day. Good times!
When I first saw this film, in my early 20s, it scared me pretty bad, to where I couldn't finish it, & didn't, for many years afterwards. I remember I was incredibly puzzled as to why there was an incest scene, in there. Overall, it's definitely the best of the Amityville films. Even though the Lutzes are full of shit, I would, one day, love to see a movie adaptation of the novel version of Amityville: Part 2.
Brandon Page, That incest scene was added not just for shock value but based on rumors that Ronny Defeo had an affair with his oldest sister Dawn........rumors only... and was rumors she helped him kill the family before He killed her... The Lutz story tends to overshadow the Real life Defeo Murders that happen the year before the Lutz's moved into the home.
I wondered why that had to be included as well and then I read up on the DeFeo family this is loosely based on. Apparently there were rumblings about that possibly happening but no one knew for sure.
And then someone pointed out that it was actually the demon that had possessed Sonny that was doing the act with Trish, using Sonny’s body. Either way it’s just so uncomfortable to watch. Such a scary movie. That entire killing spree was absolutely horrific! They did just a phenomenal job with it.
@@oldhollywoodfan8009 why are people confused about the incest subplot? The demonic possession wipes out his entire family, so seducing his sister is just a side conquest and the demon delights in it all the more because the family is religious. It fits theme and genre. Horror is meant to make the audience uncomfortable, I find it weird that people have no problem watching horror for characters die is brutal ways, but some incest is what gets them to clutch their pearls? Horror is the genre to go dark, or those social commentary arty indie movies. I rather watch the horror movies than those arty indie movies - unless it arty indie horror 😂 I dont condone incest but it fits genre and theme of demonic possession.
