      That is correct, and people are better off omitting the apostrophe if they don't know where it's correctly placed, as I've seen people make the mistake far too often.
      Seems to be one of those things where virtually everyone does it without being aware that they've been doing it wrong the whole time; just merely copying everyone else.

      @dx1450 Před 4 lety +6

      Yep, I've read all about how they invented the entire thing. Lutz's business was going under and he likely found himself unable to keep making the payments on the house, so they cooked up this scheme about it being haunted by evil spirits. Which would explain the part about the brother-in-law's wedding money coming up missing. In the book it talked about that, and later it said that some of the money showed up, but not all of it. I'm guessing George Lutz stole it all, felt guilty about taking it all after the groom was panicking, and put some of it back later.

Not like their is any legal requirement to claim that like the Blair Witch movie's whole gimmick, and I love that movie BTW. Despite knowing NONE of it is real I can still really get into it and creped out. But it doesn't change the fact the Lutzes were completely full of shit, no surprise. They were going bankrupt at the time they "fled" the house BTW, gee wonder why they would do that at the same time they didn't have the money to keep making payments on it. Gee wonder why no one that's lived their since has had a problem with the place. Guess because ghosts aren't real. Shocking. It's actually a really really nice house. 1:25 Hey now, taking liberties with horror films and "true" stories isn't only bad when new movies do it... It's bad that new movies STILL to do it knowing their audiences want a more straight forward version of a story.
    I get that telling a true story note for factual note would be boring in most cases, but you would think with today's endless technology, it wouldn't be impossible to tell an intriguing true story without having to straight up lie, like most do.
    Then there's stories like Titanic where you can do whatever you want as long as the tragedy happens. Even if you end the story right when they hit the iceberg, you KNOW what follows is horrible. Hell, I don't care if it's about a striving circus clown in training who longs to walk again, or cartoon mice or whatever. As long as that ship is going down, the impact from the factual part of the story will hit you a little bit

      4Legacy Yes, absolutely. I completely agree. With movies like Titanic and Pearl Harbor, if they were going to make them at all, historical accuracy would've been nice. One major mistake, regarding Pearl Harbor, was having Michael Bay direct. Roger Ebert wrote a hilarious review of that film in which he called it "a movie about a love triangle set against the backdrop of the bombing of Pearl Harbor" which is a completely accurate description.

    The Lutz family were workshopping ideas about how to monetize their month-long stay in Amityville:
    "Can't we just write a book about how the bank was about to foreclose on us, since an out-of-work contractor and a stay-at-home mom couldn't possibly afford the mortgage on a house worth close to $150,000 in 1976 dollars ($1.2 million in 2020 dollars)?"
    "Nah, we're gonna have to spice it up a bit with ghosts."

They paint the whole bathroom black to match! Tons of flies, they fill the room with Venus flytraps, etc.

    Coming out right? Gotta watch that and then release it the day before the movie comes out.
    And then you can watch Godzilla in the theaters the day its released.
    Then do a comparison video between the 2 movies and give a final verdict.
