The Daemon Prince you show at 11:13 the one with like no face, is that a full model or was that modded from something else? I want to use something like that for a Daemon Prince for Nurgle, something that looks sinewy and strong as opposed to all the blobs.
tallyman tossing his +1 onto a combat kitted plague marine unit with double cleaver, double flail, and fist sounds delightful. All those spillover wounds if you need to from the 12 flail and 6 cleaver attacks, all that anti big things crunch, no suffering from the -1, etc.
just play admech or drukhari, you will be able to mash him up. I play DG too, the new admech will hurt us IMO as they have more damage. also the right drukhari list is proper nasty for us to deal with as well.
Easy combo is 6 Deathshrouds with extra plague gauntlet and Chimes of contagion (+3' contagion range) deepstriking with Sourcerer in terminator armor, having arch contaminator. Now you use Gift of plagues spell (+6' contagion aura) on deathshrouds for 12' aura in total + use that strat from Mortation's chosen sons plague company to give them 2 damage on gauntlets. It means 7d6 autohits with full to wound rerolls against -1T targets (thanks to your native contagion aura that also increases its range). Intercessors squad would take in average 12 wounds. You can also use Veterans for +1to wound, if you're fighting against t5 targets. With the smite you might cast from sourcerer, it can easily kill 7 intercessors without even engaging them. With a bit of luck or bad saving throws it might make the whole squad die or flee at the end of the turn. The beauty of this move is that it's almost guaranteed: you don't need to struggle with bringing your troops in range. And deathshrouds are not going anywhere easily: they stay there threatening you enemy next turn. Don't forget about Miasma of Pestilence you can cast on them to make them even more durable. Anti - horde option looks even scarier, and you don't need any strat for that one. It may include Flesh outbrake on Deathshrouds with another warlord having Ferric Blight trait (-1AP) if you need it for 2CP.
I feel like people are sleeping on the Plague Skull of Glothila relic. It's not technically a weapon so the only requirement is being within 6", doesn't mess with your shooting/fighting, can target things out of line of sight, can be used after advancing. Perfect target for the Champion of Disease strat to give it to a unit of PMs/termies so really only costs the 1 CP unless you're using that strat for something else. I could be totally off base here but 1 CP for ~4-5 MWs seems like a good deal.
I'm digging the ideal of a helbrute (core) with fist and using Haze of Corruption hanging back with pox walkers. 5 str 12 attacks with -3 ap at dmg 3 spilling over like old flail of corruption. With a heavy flamer it can spray in combat due to being a vehicle, two fists is 6 attacks or bring a tank busting melta. It's cheap and it hits hard.

I would like to run a rhino spam list again though, I just gotta work out how best to run the squads of PM's. I also use spawn squads a lot , they fast movement speeds always surprises the other player. If fact I have had good success with using 2 squads of Spawns acting as body guards to mortarion. combined with the 3 Rhinos you have a hell of a lot of models charging up the table 12 inches a turn plus advance. I’ve found a good list that has beat necrons every time. 2 twin volkite contemptors with a tallyman with tollkeeper destroys warrior blobs, and mortarion is extremely hard for necrons to deal with
Another combo you did not mention, Wrathful Dead + Mutant Strain in a Harbingers army. Hits of 6 deal mortal wounds, hits of 1 wound a poxwalker, but everything can be re rolled. I used this to kill a big slaanesh daemon (forgot the name) dealing 12 mortal wounds and only loosing 3 poxwalkers. About 15 in the unit.
Flash outbreak/the droning with a plague drone fella (the 40k ones, not the big fly's) this is supposed to be nasty. you can get into them super-fast, hit them with the movement debuff at a key juncture, then completely overrun them.
8:43 I feel like the grenades are pretty good, even with just S3, because you want to use this strat in meelee when the enemy already has the -1 toughness debuff, so they wound marines on 4+.
For "Viscous Death" I don't see where it adds 1 S to the weapon characteristic, just that it lets you re roll the amount of hits; am I missing something here?
So you said living plague would quell Objective Secured? how does that work, as far as I am aware Objective Secured is not an aura ability and would remain unaffected by Living Plague.
What are your thoughts on summoning daemons (example, poxbringer for herald strength aura and shriveling pox) to boost a daemon heavy list (possessed, DPs, daemon engines)? There's arguments back and forth on whether or not you lose the army wide rule of Contagions.
This is a really exciting codex for sure! I'm curious about mortarion's chosen sons, I don't think the stratagem for extra damage works on the twin plague spewer of the new Lord of Virulence but if it does that would be absolutely amazing!
There's so much to do with the Death Guard. Thanks for helping me parse it all. Also, one thing I really want to do is run a Lord of Contagion with the relic Reaper of Glorious Entropy and deadly pathogen Acidic Malady. 5 attacks at 2+ WS, Str 10 -4 AP 3 damage each. It truly seems like a mini-Mortation in terms of damage output.
You can give a model both a relic and a deadly pathogen, but you can only apply the deadly pathogen to non-relic plague weapons. So the Acidic Malady/Reaper of Glorious Entropy combo is illegal, but you could take a Fugaris Helm and still put Acidic Malady on a Plaguereaper.
Even on a plaguereaper it would only be strength 9, since the deadly pathogen increases the strength of the weapon (so it becomes x2+1) Now strength 6/8 manreapers on the other hand....
I used the Sup. Plate and Rot Con combo on a daemon prince thinking it would make him nigh impossible to kill. It didn't. My opponent just used strength and high ap Weapons making the relic and trait useless. The Prince died before he got into combat. I switched to hulking physique for 1 more wound and ignoring wounds of 1,2,3. Somehow that worked better.
Great video. Thanks guys. I feel the trap in this Codex is getting lost in combos. A really important thing when building lists and playing them will be to keep focus on the mission. :) What do you think?
with the termies making they're bolters plague weapons with the strat for +1 ap you can stick a lord of virulence witch arch contaminator warlord trait in deep strike with the termies because on a unmodified wound roll of 6 from the lord he improves plauge weapons ap by 1 as well. on top of the enternal hatred strat for +1 to wound you can use vermid whispers strat to add 1 to hit rolls for you terminators.
Can you string out poxwalkers you brought back like that? If they come back all at once they would need to be placed next to the existing ones as the other ones aren't in play yet, surely. Or am I missing something?
You can place models that come back anywhere within 2 inches of the parent unit. Stringing out the models like that is a legitimate tactic called daisy chaining. Necrons are infamous for that with their reanimation protocols.
I have been looking at Hel brutes and the combo of fat 3 damage attacks and the Haze of corruption to cleave the damage over to other modles and now that heavy bolters are also jucy im having a hard time not taking them
Foul Infusion grants "1" mortal wound on unmodified wound rolls of 6s, wouldn't that mean that if you roll 3 6's, wouldn't that be only 1 mortal wound? The "s" at the end of unmodified wound rolls implies that multiple 6s only get 1 MW... right?
"Until the start of your next Command phase, each time a model in that unit makes a melee attack with a Plague Weapon, an unmodified wound roll of 6 inflicts 1 mortal wound on the target in addition to any normal damage." The "each time a model makes a melee attack" is key here. Yes you get 1 MW but it is per model. So if you have 5 models doing 5 attacks and they all roll 6s then you get 6mw since each model made a melee attack on a 6.
No mention of volkite Contemptor dreadnoughts? It's 16 S6 D2 shots with mortals on 6s at 45" range. A marine within contagion range will be wounded on 2s. Shooty DG is legit and killing enemy units makes your already durable army last even longer.
two shooty helbrutes with a tallyman...all 6s to hit from core units makes and aditional hit, one of em with +1 from the tally the other with the strat, so, 4 lascanon shots on 2+, 6s add another hit, 2 of them with +1 to wound, and 2 missiles with the same...also i like to only put the lascannon and move em behind the tally and the unit he is acompanying :P
Thanks a lot ! It's very hard to wait when seeing such good videos, but I still haven't received my Codex because of the Covid, of the Brexit, and other delivery problems (I'm from France) Death Guard looks disgustingly vicious to play and I can't wait to test your tricks !
Hello! I want to ask about rules ignoring damage "just like that", i mean new disgustingly resilient or this stratagem for dreads... Duty eternal or something like that. Do they work on mortal wounds? I mean if one hit deals 2 mw's like Troupe Master from Harlequins or even more like big smite. Sorry for my english.
One of my absolute favorite combos was demonstrated recently in your very own tournament, the three model blight hauler squad with a buffing plague caster and the poxmongers ironclot furnace is a nigh unkillable brute force wall with surprising speed. Easy 5 points for too the last.
Not tried it yet, but looking at the maths and going for a good close combat unit, for just shy of 200pts you can get a unit of SEVEN plague marines, with the champion with a powerfist, then one of every close combat option plus a bloke with bolter and icon. They put out 23 attacks but more importantly, they can do 29 + 3d6 damage, this is what you want to combine with the strat Haze of Corruption and none of that excess damage is wasted. This unit puts out more attacks and a lot more wounds than five blightlords, and even four deathshroud which both come to slightly more points. Being such a cheap troop unit, they also may not be a big a target of the terminators, which you would still have
10 is not a very Nurgle number, why not 7 or 14? All joking aside this is a great video even for a Necron player like me as it highlights things I need to be aware of when I face the Death Guard.
2 double knife guys in a 10 man squad but the rest of them still have their 1 knife unless you take a flail, cleaver, or axe/mace combo (as far as I'm aware. My codex still hasn't arrived yet)
@@coletrain644 Even the cleaver flail and axe combo have knives. Book states they lose their bolter. Strat is still great. I think it's fun my 10 man will have a lot of different weapons. But it means lots of rolling...
My favourite one is to throw Inexorable Lord of Contagion from the deepstrike within 12" of enemy vehicles that I want to kill, cast the spell that increases his contagion by 6" and now he has a 12" aura of -1 toughness and I gain +1 ap against units in this area. So strength 8 weapons like Grav-flux on Leviathans or the Plagueburst Crawler all of a sudden wound on 3+. And the plagueburst has plague weapon, but what about those poor leviathans or mephitic blighthaulers? Well, shoot plagueburst into whatever you want to kill, use the Sickly Corrosion stratagem that allows all death guard units to reroll 1 to wound at the target plagueburst just shot, and now your leviathans and maphitics wound Tougness 8 targets on 3+ rerolling 1s and have an additional -1 AP. Nobody expects such heavy shooting from Death Guard, you can down Knights, tanks, whatever vehicles you want.
@@jcmsaucey6555 Huh, I guess Mephtics are totally dead then. All FW units got plague company, it's in the FAQ. Bubonic astartes and plague company, so dreadnoughts do have it.
@@viatka1966 Was going off of what battlescribe was saying, just got my codex today The only things that don't have the plague company keyword are Typhus (who has the Harbingers keyword), Mortarion, and Cultists. Myphitic Blighthaulers are, in fact, plague company. Plus they got some neat tanky strats. Still probably not worth 140 points though
It's not as strong in my opinion. I mean, if you do this it's great, but your helbrute is movement 6, and will die fairly easy, so I doubt you will be able to charge anything worthwhile
With the grenades you can use 4 from a unit. 3 of them bekomes pistol when using strategem and 1 trows grenade like normal. And stil can do range 12 on them with 6+ range on plague weapons with strategem. Sow trows grenade back field or a screan and then charge unit you want dead. No, whenever you roll 6s those rolls are mortal wounds. So 3 sixes are 3 mortal wounds.
"Until the start of your next Command phase, each time a model in that unit makes a melee attack with a Plague Weapon, an unmodified wound roll of 6 inflicts 1 mortal wound on the target in addition to any normal damage."
The "each time a model makes a melee attack" is key here. Yes you get 1 MW but it is per model. So if you have 5 models doing 5 attacks and they all roll 6s then you get 6mw since each model made a melee attack on a 6.
Nice video love the content!what are your rhoughts on the new HQ? Any thoughts about doing a deathguard weapons video?
Love this video.
No mention of volkite Contemptor dreadnoughts? It's 16 S6 D2 shots with mortals on 6s at 45" range. A marine within contagion range will be wounded on 2s. Shooty DG is legit and killing enemy units makes your already durable army last even longer.
Great video
Still super glad i stuck with Death Guard through 8th when they kinda sucked for most of the edition. I worry my buddies are gonna be mad though =/
That's an issu I am currently running into, they got used to an underpowered death guard and now they think it's op... I don't even play mortharion.
two shooty helbrutes with a tallyman...all 6s to hit from core units makes and aditional hit, one of em with +1 from the tally the other with the strat, so, 4 lascanon shots on 2+, 6s add another hit, 2 of them with +1 to wound, and 2 missiles with the same...also i like to only put the lascannon and move em behind the tally and the unit he is acompanying :P
Nice, are there plans to do this for the new Dark Angels too?
Thanks a lot !
It's very hard to wait when seeing such good videos, but I still haven't received my Codex because of the Covid, of the Brexit, and other delivery problems (I'm from France)
Death Guard looks disgustingly vicious to play and I can't wait to test your tricks !
with a VPN and yandex search engine it's not too hard to find a full PDF free
@@carbomb6210 Thanks. Already done what I had to do, but nicd of you 🙃
what model is your daemon-prince (the winged one with the scythe)? it looks amazing!
Look up creature caster 😉
where can I get that demon prince model
Mortal Wounds are dealt one at a time. So anything with damage reduction would not work
@@johndefrank1118 Thanks bro :)
One of my absolute favorite combos was demonstrated recently in your very own tournament, the three model blight hauler squad with a buffing plague caster and the poxmongers ironclot furnace is a nigh unkillable brute force wall with surprising speed. Easy 5 points for too the last.
Top stuff guys!
Guys where does it say Viscous death gives +1 strength to your flamer
Wait, Living Plague can turn off obsec for an enemy unit? Is that true? 1:53
Some character auras allow ObsSec around them
Why can you rez pox before scoring points? You score objectives at the start of the command phase I thought?
Its end of command phase. Maybi some missions have start of it
@@ChaosSwarm makes sense!
Being such a cheap troop unit, they also may not be a big a target of the terminators, which you would still have
Time for a Bridger's Easy as ABC Taktiks video
10 is not a very Nurgle number, why not 7 or 14? All joking aside this is a great video even for a Necron player like me as it highlights things I need to be aware of when I face the Death Guard.
In a ten man squad of melee marines I thought I could only bring 2 knives. Didn't they limit all weapons for what's in the box.
Solid video but the real question, are those demon princes forge world? Or no longer in production
Tall guy with the scythe is a Creature Caster mini, the other one looks like a kitbash/greenstuff build using some Sylvaneth tree dude parts
One of the DP is from Creature Caster, and the other one looks like he was heavily converted.
with what do you reroll 1 for hitting ?
New Lord if contagion has it now like a chaos lord
Tally man is amazing
Deadly paths don't work on relics
Unfortunately Myphitic Blighthaulers don't have the Plague Company keyword, so they won't get the extra -1 AP. Not sure on the FW stuff either
@@jcmsaucey6555 Huh, I guess Mephtics are totally dead then. All FW units got plague company, it's in the FAQ. Bubonic astartes and plague company, so dreadnoughts do have it.
@@viatka1966 Was going off of what battlescribe was saying, just got my codex today
The only things that don't have the plague company keyword are Typhus (who has the Harbingers keyword), Mortarion, and Cultists. Myphitic Blighthaulers are, in fact, plague company. Plus they got some neat tanky strats. Still probably not worth 140 points though
the viscous death pathogen does not give a +1 to str characteristic
All pathogens give +1S
@@illzcodes I had to reread the entire pathogen section but you are correct I didn't see that at first
Kind of surprised using Haze of corruption on helbrutes didn't get a honorable mention.
It's not as strong in my opinion. I mean, if you do this it's great, but your helbrute is movement 6, and will die fairly easy, so I doubt you will be able to charge anything worthwhile
Yeah it's a shame Brutes lost movement 8, but your not wrong you won't use very often.
And thx to make grenades pistol can make if Laky destroy unit they are Combat with and charge a unit close.
still waiting on a tau or knights update. just chillin in F tier
