    In the most recent FAQ the Knights Super Heavy Walker ability was changed to: "This model is eligible to declare a charge in a turn in which
    it Fell Back. Each time this model makes a Normal Move, Advances or Falls Back, it can be moved across other models (excluding Monster and Vehicle models) as if they were not there, and when it does it can be moved within Engagement Range of such models, but cannot finish its move within Engagement Range of any of them." Which may help getting around screening a bit.

    • @Feralhyena
      @Feralhyena Před 4 lety

      True, but you'd still have to make a looping charge in order not to end up in Engagement Range of the models screening your target. You basically need to charge past your target in order to tag it and only it.

    Great video as always guys! I know this video was probably made before the new faq, but knights can now normal move, advance, and fall back over models (excluding monsters and vehicles). So it's harder to move block knights. This is a subtle but great little buff to the army.

    I run a list of 12 armigers and an inquisitor.
    6 armiger warglaives with melta guns
    6 moirax with double lightning locks
    Lord Hector Rex with inquisitorial mandate and the malleus warlord trait Psychic Mastery.
    Lord Hector can be teleported into battle from reserve if the enemy has snipers. He has 3 psyker casts and 4 denies with +1 to deny within 12" of enemy psykers. He is also a beast and hard to kill with his terminator armor and storm shield.
    The moirax with lightning locks are there to scour the board of all objective secured infantry. On average these 6 will wipe out 60 guardsmen a turn, or 12 primaris. Once they scour the board of objecrive secured infantry these moirax take objectives and focus on heavier targets. The 6 will pop a leman russ each turn.
    The warglaives are antitank, a screening force, and with the latest strategem from engine war theyre lawnmowers which dont discriminate between infantry or tanks in melee. I keep them in groups of 3 to make use of the strategem.
    I run them as mechanicus aligned for the +1w healing a turn. I try to keep my warglaives locked in melee so the wounds get spread out between them instead of focused all on one. This makes better use of my healing per turn.
    House is best as Krast or Taranis. Krast for extra lawnmower power or taranis for extra survivability. I mostly go taranis. That extra 16% survivability helps tremendously.
    I forgot to add: First turn use prepared positions for the cover save on your whole army.
    Also, in the tactics department, the moirax are used to clear screens so that the warglaives can charge into armor and rip them apart with their melee. Moirax are no pushovers in close combat themselves. If they get stuck in melee theyll still be firing their lightning locks point blank. The damage output is not something to scoff at.
    Also, custom households have a bit of interesting things. My recommendation is Defiant Fury, and Hounds of War. Defiant Fury keeps your Warglaives dangerous even once theyre bracketed. Hounds of War gives you maneuverability. If your warglaives get bogged down you can just fall back and charge another more appropriate target. Or fall back and let the moirax liquidate the infantry that caught you, and then charge through the resulting hole into something juicy. Moirax can also fall back and shoot at something far more important, say infantry securing an objective.

    • @secretnewmeta1981
      @secretnewmeta1981 Před 4 lety

      @Denzohd Just a single Superheavy detachment Armigers are vehicle squadrons. One LoW choice gives you 3 Armigers of the same chassis (Three chassis are warglaive, helverin, and moirax)
      Note: Vehicle squadrons only count as 1 model for the purpose of the rule of 3. So you could technically have up to 3 LoW choices, or 9 Armigers of all the same chassis.
      So my list is 4 Lord of War choices in a single superheavy detachment. The choices are 1:3 warglaives with meltas 2:3warglaives with meltas 3:3 moirax with dual lightning locks 4:3 moirax with dual lightning locks
      Finally, every Imperial detachment gets to include an inquisitor in a "No force organization" slot. Essentially, you can include one inquisitor for free in every detachment you have without needing to take up an HQ slot. You still have to pay the points for the model though. I have one detachment, and so Lord Rex is a part of that.
      When I said I group them together, what I mean is I keep them close on the battlefield. I want to take advantage of the strategem that gives you bonus attacks based on how many allied armigers are in melee with the same unit.

    Small question, what do you guys think about the Armiger Moirax? I've seen them used a couple times (Also they're pretty cheap around here you pay almost as much for two Moirax as for two Warglaives), but I'm not sure whether it's just better to get more bodies on the board.
    Also I'm soooooo glad they implemented the vertical aspect of engagement range. It always felt so stupid to stomp around in front of what is basically a two-story shack about to fall apart with a bunch of Guardsmen or something similar on top, cackling and throwing pebbles at you.

      There are really only 2 types of models you'll need, the Questoris and the Armiger. They mainly have different weapon loadouts that if you magnetize the arms and weapons can remove the need to get a complete different extra model for a specific weapon.

My understanding was (which stands to be corrected) that 1) many of Knights’ weapons now feature the blast keyword, and 2) blast weapons garnered tiered guaranteed hits against units depending upon whether the targeted unit contained 5+ or 11+ models - wouldn’t that discourage an opponent from blobbing together larger units and help Knights clear screening/chaff from the board?

      I'm gonna take a SHD with a castigator and 2 warglaves. castigator is gonna be my WL, which will refund me the 6 CP for the SHD (technically this is a Knight army now, but who cares). Now I only need to pay 2-3 CP for an additional AdMech detatchment (traits can be bought in thanks to engine war). This also has the benefit, that my castigator can have a relic and a trait, which he normally wouldn't be able to since the stratagems dont apply to cerastus pattern :(
      in additon I scapped the syd. dragoons (to support my castigator storming up the board) from my list because of the heavy nerf they got and switched them for Ironstriders. since ironstriders and helverins basically fill the same role, I then switched the helverins for warglaives to fill the gap the dragoons left.
      hope this helps :) C&C welcome

      What you need, what you can squeeze in. knights didn’t get as harsh a points bump as other factions. That being said, knights most common allies guard and Admech did.
      A lot of the older cool tricks require you to make your warlord either guard/Admech. You then are paying for the super heavy detachment which is 6 CP.

    I hope someone hear can help, I played my first game of 9th with my Knights a few days ago, I came across a problem where I was unable to get to objectives as my Knights couldn't cross walls blocking them that were just over an inch high as they had the scalable keyword so only infantry can climb up and down them, is this a legitimate rule as it seemed a little odd as the walls were just over the height of the foot of the model.

    • @TwilightsCall
      @TwilightsCall Před 4 lety +2

      Scaleable only stops your Knights from standing on top of it, not moving over it. You can still go through scaleable obstacles as long as you don't stop on top of them, and you can occupy the bottom floor of scaleable areas (like ruins). You will just have to take into account the extra movement up and down if the walls are more than an inch high.

    • @diggoryx
      @diggoryx Před 4 lety

      Sounds to me like a bad assignment of the "scalable" keyword. I think the scalable keyword is meant for terrain features where models can sit on a higher level such as ruins or a solid container, that type of thing. If I am reading your situation correctly, it sounds like it was applied to a short wall or barricade terrain feature? If so, I think the scalable word shouldn't have been applied which means your knights could have crossed it (deducting a couple inches of movement perhaps to get up and down?).

    Your heroic intervention example with the plaguebearers is illegal in 9th edition rules. A model cannot heroically intervene if it is already in engagement range with another unit. So you cannot rotate your knight base to drag another unit that's more than 1" away into combat (they can't be any closer unless they already declared you in a charge).
    There just is no way to prevent the second unit behind your knight from contesting the point.

    • @Shlomo15
      @Shlomo15 Před 4 lety

      To clarify, heroic interventions are declared at the END of the charge phase. So they can move the unit behind just over 1" away from the knight, and charge the knight with the front unit, turning off your ability to intervene. You're now locked in combat with only the front unit, and the rear unit remains just over 1" away and not in combat as it never was declared in the charge.

    • @Shlomo15
      @Shlomo15 Před 4 lety

      And I guess to further clarify, your example works if neither unit charged the knight and just sits 1.01" away but nobody is going to do that. One units gonna charge and the other is going to hang out nearby contesting the objective but remaining out of combat
