- Is XTOOL D7 the best tablet car #scanner now? Looked for pros & cons, ups & down in VW, BMW, and Fiat. Made full fault scans, tried guided procedures for EPB and service reset, checked live data like ATF temperature, DPF state, fuel pressure, injector corrections, forced output tests of instrument cluster, fixed missing basic settings of sunroof. Great device for vehicle diagnostics and repairs. One thing that I noticed missing over here is VAG coding option, which is one of the essential things required for working with VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda vehicles, for example when replacing modules or when enabling & tweaking new features.

For as costly as it is, the "No VAG coding" would stop some of us. I shall keep my VCDS. Great content/ video, as usual.
They added ECU coding for VAG cars or atleast they claim in the store page.

Very good long review ! I have one question : what is the différence between spécial function from main page (list of 31 icon of spécial function) and spécial function in ECU menu ? Is it same, and just a short cut or différent feature ??

The D7S is available for a little more. Same device but wireless.
Maybe some things are missing, but ill bet they have them on higher end models. That kind of thing is why there are higher end models.
Speaking of transmission fluid change, some manufacturers require performing "transmission relearn". Can the D7 do that as well?
Yes. Not use if the 100% of brands/models/transmissions are covered, but the A/T relearn option is there.
Does it do stabilitrak on gm
Well... in my short time with it, I found it cannot reset the Inspection Due alarm on an Audi. Function not supported according to the D7.

Very interesting scan tool but it would appear not to be capable of coding new fuel injectors after replacement.
Very disappointed by this lack of ability in this area

It appears unless you keep this scanner updated it will not connect with your car it says must update so i guess when the free updates stop they can shut it down
I have D8 and when using and updates are available I am still able to use it.

I was told the unit in the black case are fake, and the unit in red case are original!
So someone made a fake diagnostic interface and then failed to pick the right color for the box?

I have a D7 and D8. (Recently received). I find that neither does much with my early Dodge minivans (up to 2006). Either Dodge has locked all the functionality or XToool is geared more toward foreign vehicles. Really disappointed because I had high expectations. With these vehicles it's little more than an OBD2 scanner.
i found out today it shuts down unless you keep downloading the newest updates so when free updates stop so does the scanner

Maybe the software for the function you perform has not been downloaded completely. After 3 years, you can still use the downloaded software to work, but you cannot download the latest software.@@johnmitchell2741

Are you sure about that? Went to use my extool today and it said on the screen it must download the latest updates before you can use it . Thats not gonna be good when the free updates stop , looks like they can shut down the scanner somehow

I do not recommend it, the support is weak or non-existent. I contacted them via support emails and there was no response!!
I bought it four months ago, for the first two months it sent data via mail and currently it is not working
I also tried to program the keys and it did not work. Even though it has the code, it fails. It also often does not work when resetting the kilometer, nor does the PCM.

I'm disappointed. It's the worst scan tool I've ever used. First it came with completely empty battery. This was a sign for me that the battery will not hold well and I was right it's holding only 3 days in standby from 100% to 0% Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try and what a disappointment. This peace of shity software sometimes work sometimes not. I've tried it with several vehicles. Autoscan some times find the vehicle sometime not (the same vehicle) and want from me to input manually the VIN number. My vehicles option is not working at all! I need to put the VIN for my own vehicle every time like a creazy! After that sometimes it is very fast and communicate with the ECU very fast seconds later start to be very slow and laggy and loading for minutes. Deleting of the error codes is not working most of the time, just show error message "communication fail" or something else. Sometimes when I scann a vehicle it shows that there is 4000 errors (*_*) I scann it again and it shows 0. Live data is not working most of the time it shows 5000+ data sources which obviously is not true and if you scroll them you see that they repeat itself endless. The live data search function show also a lot of repeting rows. Back button is also not working most of the time you click it and nothing happens and after 30-40 seconds it sart working from itself. I need to restart the whole device several times each time to start working properly. Restart ... test ... restart ... test until it start working property. What a nightmare I can't trust this device at all. Stay away!
Das Gerät ist einfach nur Müll. Der Support wollte mir zwar bei manchen Problemen helfen, hatte aber Englischkenntnisse wie mein Rasierer. Ernsthafte Probleme wurden konstant ignoriert ( Softwarebugs, Übersetzungsfehler die das Arbeiten unmöglich machen etc. ) Lasst die Finger von dieser Firma
