- In this video I do an overview of my 1997 Ford Ranger. It has completely stock suspension, but I threw on some 31's for the heck of it. Surprisingly it doesn't rub as much as I thought it would!

My 03 Ranger 4x2 came with 15 inch wheels but i stepped up to 16inch and put a set of Toyo Open Country A/T 3 245x75x16 10ply tires on, and they run super quiet and look super cool with no rub,if that can help anyone 212 per tire👍
$112 at Walmart too
Yo can I ask you bro I have a 09 stock ranger with stock rims but I want to get new ones
@@cameronjones2882did you get them
Truck sits just right. Those rims are perfectly understated. What brand are they? Thanks
I like your light set up.
Thanks man I appreciate it. Your video was so helpful
Good looking truck .in my opinion you should put like a one inche spacer in the front so it looks super perfect
it's called adjusting the torsion bars
@@autobotavengerfireballxl5339 it might have coil spring’s smart guy. No torsion bars
What a fantastic video👌
Nice looking truck, i have the same one and i wanted to ask you, i have the original ford meddle caps but i lost one in the front and i feel like the bering cap could came off while im driving, has that happen to you? Or is it possible?
Can I have the info on the light bar / and the mounts you ordered. I been looking everywhere
So these will for sure fit my 97 4x4 with a leveling kit
Get a rough Country leveling kit it’s only like $70 badass truck btw
Link
@@jhovanylopez1897google it rough country
will it work with 2WD thought? I think that one is only for 4x4s
FWIW: My 2003 Ranger FX4 Level II came from the factory with 31 X 10.50 tires (15). I do not see any different hardware between it and my 2002 Edge 4WD. Both look to have the same OEM lift blocks in the rear. I have not compared rear springs or checked part numbers, maybe the FX4 Level II had a higher arch rear spring, but I sort of doubt it.
Post more on this truck!!!
What size of motor do u have in your ranger
If I get 265s on my ford ranger with a 3 inch lift would it look good?
Thanks ....I am Honduras
Will this be the same for my 93 xlt ?
hi did you put hub centric rings on your hubs so the rims sit on them snug like stock ones?
It’s hard finding some that go down to 70.5 tbh. I’m currently Having issues finding some
Iv had people talk me into selling em 10s for rangers i try to talk em out of it they come back lyin sayin theres something wrong with em trying to get me to change em again
Where did you get the light bar mounts? And what size is that led bar
Got the mounts on eBay. It's a 50 inch light bar
I have the same truck bro .. thanks for the vid
My 2003 Edge model Ranger is the same height as the 4 wheel drive Ranger . I bet I could fit 33s with out any lift . I don't think I will ever try to though .
Don't think they would fit. My 2003 Edge 4WD has 33's on it, but it has a 2" over stock lift. If they did fit inside the wheel wells you would most likely rub the front tires when turning.
Is it two or four wheel drive? I've got a 99 model 4x4 and I'm wanting to do the same thing. Trying to get an idea of the fitment on them.
gonna say 4x4, the 2wd Rangers are a lot less tall.
@@huemid3974 2wd to me. My buddy has 31’s on his 94 2.3l and it looks exactly like this with the stock suspension. I’d recommend installing front 1.5” springs and shocks from rough country tho because it does rub especially with speed bumps.
So you can't fit 32s or 33s, right?
I like steel wheels on my 97 rangers. I drive my 2wd truck off-road. Always hated aluminum mags.
What light bar is that??
If you don’t mind me asking what percent tint is on your ranger?
I believe it was 20%
Wheel spacers??)
Is your truck 2wd or 4wd?
Also, what size led bar??? Thank you
50 inch
Did U regear your diff?
Are they 10 ply
Sweet. How’s the engine holding up to date with the larger tires? Thinking about jumping up to 31’s myself with the 2.3 engine but can’t afford the regearing as they want anywhere from $1500-$2000 over here in CA for that alone.. so would be stock gearing with them. Thanks in advance!
I have a 2006 ranger 2.3 5 speed manual 2wd stock suspension it handles 31x10.50 mud tires just fine you will notice a loss in gas mileage depending on how I shift and drive I get any where from 15 to 20 a miles a gallon
Forgot to mention that the low gears 1st to 4th go fine but 5th will have some loss of power I usually don’t shift into 5th until 55 60 5th gear isn’t really a powerful gear any way
How is your roof bar mounted?
I just bought brackets from eBay to mount it
Nice
How do they affect the speedometer reading?
Reduce it by 5 is what my buddy said. He has a 94 2.3l manual with 31’s and he just drove past a lot of speed radars with no cameras to test it out. We did mine which is a 93 3.0 v6 and it was about the same.
@@uzileopard6199 can you still do highway speeds pretty well? Ive got the 3.0 manual and I wanna get bigger tires
@@braxtongreen2292 yea it did, but i got rid of it, didnt overheat but was slow but you never expect power out of a ranger.
A minor lift and taller gearing for restored performance. It would help.
Yes this is what I wanted to hear! What gears would you suggest? 4.10?
@@brandoncurry9387 good ole 8.8 axle
is that 2wd or 4x4?
2wd
You should lift your ford ranger a little to clear the fender
You need a 4 inch lift all around ,or else you’re going to mass up your front fender’s .like the tires.
265/75/15 are actually a tad smaller than the 31x 10.5’s if you have the 265’s and they are that close I would say 31’s will rub
They are a hair smaller than 30 x 10 tires they are 29.6 tall and believe me I have them in a 1996 Geo tracker no lift at all but I have lexani tires more sporty look in my 15x10 wheels on older little tracker they look gd and made the tracker look tuff with flares on lexani tires are gd tires for streets and trails I have them the noise is hardly nothing
They are 31.7x10.4 and that is actually closer in size to a 32x10.5 not a 31
Where did u get the rims bud?

Hi guys I have a ranger 2005 xlt 2wd and I'm thinking to put 235/75/R15?any advices
Go with 30x9.5r15 it has half inch more ground clearance than the 235s and looks better, gas and power wise won’t notice the difference.
I have a 1999 Ranger 2WD and I put 255/70/16's from an Explorer on it. Seem to fit fine.
i got a roughcountry lift with 35 inch tires i had to cut the front fender for them to fit lol
Got Insta?
Any rubbing when turning??
Only slightly when turning hard or hitting a bump while turning.
Any rubbing with that setup? I’m looking to get 31/10.50 which is almost the same... just wondering if there was any rub
It rubbed a little if I was turning and hit a bump, as well as backing up at full lock. Besides that it didn't rub at all while doing regular driving. I actually sold the truck recently.
FoxTailWhipz did u have any sort of lift on it or did u crank the t bar
Looks like my Ranger
Putting 33 on my stock ranger within the next week
I have a 93' looking into some 33' maxxis razr's
They not gon fit
How much is a 2007 Ford Ranger with 105,000 miles?
pricey
Just got 01 with 112k for 5k.
Torsion bar lift my dude
What size in dept is that rim?
I think you would need at least a 7" wide rim.
@@nofortunatesonII I would like 2 upgrade the rear end axle since I want to raise my 2002 ranger.. it's got a 4 cylinder
@@gordo1230 Find an 8.8" rearend. Yours is most likely a 7.5". Ypu should be able to find an 8.8" in a 4WD Ranger. Most Ranger 8.8's have 28 spline axles. The 2002 FX4 Off Road, 2003 FX4 Level II both came with 8.8" rearends and 31 spline axles. The factory 4WD Rangers came with 2" lift blocks in the rear. The blocks just bolt in with longer U bolts.
They look like 32s
2wd? Or 4x4?
2wd
Thanks dude mine is 4x4 should fit mint then
What was the offset on the wheels?
Sorry for the late response! The wheels I had on it are in the description of the video. I believe it was 3.75" of backspacing.
FoxTailWhipz so 0 offset?
@@joshuaallender2986 i have a 1997 ranger 4x4 so it sits a bit higher from factory than a 2wd and i just got some Vision wheels 15x10 -39 offset with 32x11.5 tires. it looks crazy doesnt rub at full lock but does rub on my right side bumper sometimes cause the bumper was pushed back on that side from a accident before i had the truck. if i had to do it again to eliminate any rubbing just get 15x10 -29 with 32x11.5 tires. tires will stick out about 2 inches outside the fender and wont rub at all.
Someone want to sell me 235/70/16 will they rub?. 99 ranger
How it goes?
Copied our first vlog?
Wut engine
2.3
@@FoxTailWhipz did it have a hard time moving the tires ? wut gearing ratio u had on it ?
Yeah it definitely struggled! Not sure about the gear ratio though
It's a 2.3l with 2wd. Ah yes, I remember the days of 80hp, the struggle is real. I have had 3 rangers: 1986 2.9L v6 5 speed 2wd, 1998 2.4L 4 cylinder 5 speed 2wd, and 2005 4.0L v6 4x4 auto transmission. The 4 cylinder rangers have aluminum blocks that are prone to crack in cold climates and they lack the power to safely merge onto the freeway these days. The 4.0L V6 had a cast iron block and was by far best engine the rangers have, much more acceleration and ability to actually pass someone on the freeway. Eventually I got tired of the cramped cab, lack of cargo space, and no room for the dog to ride along. I have since moved up to chevy tahoe 4 door 5.7L V8 4x4. Since it appears that you like trucks, I think one day you're going to move on up like I did. The rangers are neat when you're young and poor, but really the gas mileage is about the same as a full size truck but minus the capability and power. It gets annoying when everyone is flying past you on the interstate. In the snow, they're pretty lame, and require sand bags for a bit of traction. Rangers are more like a car than a truck with the 4 cylinder.
Yup that’s what I’m struggling right now hahaha
I made through VT winter with a 2wd 1996 Ranger. Super proud commuting daily with it. These trucks are tough in 2nd gear. Exhaust disagrees sometimes but made it through.
@@natechoge6948 nice, yeah that's where they take off! Makes me miss 5 speed. I'm in minnesota, we had the St Paul ranger plant. I have to be honest that I put those trucks through a lot! And they're dependable, daily drivers. Sometimes Ford is weird to work on, with specialty tools.
1998 4 cly was a 2.5 liter Lima not 2.4 and its cast iron with timing belt non-interference. Solid engines.
My dads old car
They have to scrub bruh
