- Even though its now 10 years old, LEGO Lord Of The Rings remains one of the greatest LEGO themes of all time. So today I wanted to look at one of the sets i got when it first released, Shelob Attacks (9740).

These were the best lego sets ever made, I’ve never gotten over the fact that the theme was cancelled so abruptly before really getting off the ground. I got every set and poly bag they released back then, Orthanc is my favorite set of all time
Same, Orthanc is to this day my favorite Set of all time.
Can you still get
It
This theme seriously slapped. It’s crazy how many molds were created for this theme that are still in use today. I so wish they would reboot it, although, if they did, I’d be willing to bet it wouldn’t have as much love put in, sadly(hopefully I’m wrong about that though!).
I hate to be THAT guy, but Frodo's alternate face looks like that because, in this scene, he's just been injected with Shelob's venom, and it paralyzes him. He isn't just scared.
The LEGO Lord of the Rings theme is the best LEGO theme ever created. Every single set had a great balance of play and display and included amazing minifigures
I remember getting this for $10 at Walmart on clearance 10 years ago, I miss it so much, it's an amazing set!
This brings so many memories from 2012 and all those lego sets. I miss them
This is such a good set, im glad i bought it. Ive attached it to my wall to look like a spider crawling and it looks great
yo that sounds sick
Unexpected video! And such coincidence as well, because I bought the Gimli minifigure few days ago and, now, you're talking about LOTR theme. I hope you bring another video about the dwarves 😁
I’m currently (slowly) trying to accumulate majority of the fellowship and the hobbit dwarves. Outside this sets figures, I now have Gandalf, Bifur and Fili
The Single Best outro EVER! Thanks. "WE ARE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISENGARD!! GARD!" The singel best cover ever!
you're so right about the colors. I'm going to go back and replace all these off colors with black/brown!
I hope Lego revives LOTR and The Hobbit themes. There's so many great sets to release.
I had this one as a kid, I never really had a use for it as someone who hadn’t seen LOTR (I *wanted* to get into it but my parents were super sheltering and I never asked), looking back on it this was a great set based on a great scene, I wish my Frodo minifig’s torso didn’t get destroyed.
My nephew was a Lego nut back then. And weirdly enough This Gollum was his all time favourite Minifigure. Even when he found a Mr Gold he still liked Gollum more.
I was fortunate enough to get this set before it retired. I was unfortunate enough to have some of the old reddish brown pieces break on the legs.
Great set, great review, and I loved the music at the end!
LEGO did an amazing job with the design of the LOTR figures.
My brothers had this set growing up, that was when they wouldn't let me play with their Lego. But I have fond memories of it.
I used to play with this set for hours when I was younger. One of my favorite sets
I built my set of it last month and I still enjoy the build as much as I did when I got it for Christmas in 2012 when 14 years old. I agree though that Harry Potter need to up their game and give us a revamp of Aragog. Like the size range of the Hedwig or Fawkes sets to really depict him from the films
This is the only set I got in the Lego Lord of the Rings line and it stands out as one of my favourite lego sets ever
The theme was such a solid wave overall, but I agree. This is one of my personal favourites
this one is good, the spider is more superior than recent one in a Harry Potter set. Back then I bought this just for Gollum.... PRECIOUS!
I looove the build for Shelob here. Always love when Lego does big spider builds. Which is ironic because I’m a little bit of an arachnophobe 😂
I don't have this set but I do have many other lotr and hobbit lego sets, some of my favorite franchises. Good video, keep up the good work
This was the first LOTR set that I ever got. At the time I had never watched any of the Lord Of The Rings movies. I just remember watching the designer video of this set and I was like; “I want it” (I believe the designer was Alec or something like that).
Anyways the main reason I wanted this set was for that awesome Gollum piece. In my opinion, this Gollum is the best one. The one from the Hobbit didn’t capture him all that well.
After buying this set I showed my dad and he said he loved the LOTR movies so he decided to show me them. Since then I fell in love with the IP buying the books (besides the Samirillion/ lost letters). While I wasn’t able to obtain all the LOTR sets (very expensive for a 8 year old) however I was able to get every single The Hobbit set, (all three movies) which is an accomplishment I like to boast about. Also having both a sealed Lonely Mountain set and built one, its pretty cool, Smaug is the best dragon Lego has ever made.
Great review, glad to see some LOTR love! Managed to pick this up for £40 sealed in 2020, so got pretty lucky!
I's actually 9470 🙂 Every time I see a review for an old set, I know I won't be disappointed when I go look up the current prices on BL 😀
It’s been 10 whole years already •____•
They're taking the Hobbits to Shelob's Shack - Shack - Sha-Sha-Sha-Shack 🎶
The Aragog that came with Hagrid's Hut (set 4738) is really similar to this Shelob. The main difference I see is that Aragog uses katana swords for the lower part of the legs instead of the pieces used on Shelob. Aragog also doesn't have that assembly in the back with the string.
Yess!! I watched the LEGO Lord of The Rings before the movie (since my parents made a mistake of letting some of us watching it too young. So I had to wait.) Great review! I am life time fan!
I’ve always wanted to buy this. Hope I’m able to someday…
I have this set and the ship and I REALLY want to find the parts again for those 2
I heard they’re taking the hobbits to Isengard
The only Lotr set I've ever owned. It's now teared apart and I regret it
This is a really cool set
Literally just bought this last week since my last one got destroyed over the years most (notably the figures) and since in Australia it sells for about $200 I had to settle for $140 that I eventually found. TLDR sets expensive my dude
im planning to buy helms deep for my birthday
Out of the figures Sam is my favourite
I have always wanted to scare my sister with Shelob. I did it with the small red lego spider. I wish I cought it on video
oh yes the theme that brought me back to Lego ... shame how Lego handled the license though
I have this set, minus Gollum's little cave and Frodo's special sword (I don't know what it's called I've never seen the movies)
OMG
I love this set, I wish I would have it... I really dream about reboot lEGO LOTR sets.... but I dont think it's gonna happen, but who knows, Lego Harre Potter has returned AFTER ALL THIS TIME, so will cross the fingers.
Thx for your video)
Well, so movie for today: Lord of the rings 💍 🙃 Have a great day 😀
LEGO LOTR/The Hobbit> LEGO HP
Controversial?? I mean, the films are the best films ever and the LEGO theme was sooo detailed. The best LEGO mini figures and sets ever!
Agreed. The detail, the consistency, the creativity, the moulds, it was fantastic
@@HollyOnFilm Yes!
👍 cool and creepy
Yeah, don't watch the new Amazon series, it's garbage compared to the LOTR movies
Wow! that is a weak set . Where is the actual cave tunnel? lol
The Rings of Power is a colossal piece of garbage. It's NOT Tolkien...it's not even a good generic fantasy show.
So I'm not surprised LEGO didn't bring LotR sets back. They wouldn't want to be associated with such an abortion as Rings of Prime.
