    Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania is 10 minutes from me. They used to take any broken Rose trowel and give you a new one. They make great striking irons, slickers, and sled runners too.
    W. Rose started out making swords back in the day. Thanks for making this video.

    Switched from a Marshalltown to a rose 12 months ago and it’s helped my wrists beyond belief. Carpal tunnel rarely comes and goes now compared to using the Marshalltown. Only downside is. 12 months in and the handle snapped so had to reorder a new handle. Great trowel in my opinion. Good video pal

    Andrew . I think all the w.rose trowels you have shown in the video are standard shank trowels not specific low lift trowels .I think most of the rose trowels on sale in the uk are standard shank trowels .What you are seeing I believe is the wide variation of the handle angle of what’s known as the w.rose standard shank trowel . The tang angle and the tang height as well as the handle angle varies an unbelievable amount in the w.rose standard shank trowel. I’ll change my profile picture and put up a picture of 2 w.rose standard shank trowels and you’ll see exactly what I mean . I had a w.rose so called standard shank trowel and the handle was parallel with the blade of the trowel.

    Got 1 from speedcrete to try out plastic trowel but not keen on it prefer the proform handle. But the plastic handle did have W Rose written on it. Speedcrete deals direct with Kraft in America a got a proform wide heel from Kraft with proform handle. There digital catalog only had it in other handles but they sent 1 via speedcrete did have to weight about 2 months good for the block on flat.

    Low lift is better because your head joints become more full
    It takes more skill to use a lower lift properly

      Me and my brother snapped a w. Rose each in under a year. Ours we're both 12s, so quite long. The marshaltowns seem so much stronger. I've got a smaller rose now but the blade thickness and strength is second to marshaltowns. Maybe they mass produce now, I don't know. But I was surprised at how flimsy there are, after hearing all the great stories

  • @brickbybric
    @brickbybric Před 3 lety

    There you go Andrew . Both of those w.rose trowels in my profile picture are w.rose standard shank trowels ( high lift ) ro 116 10 is the manufactures part number on the handles which marks them down as standard shank trowels. But they have totally different handle angles . I’ve been saying this for ages the w.rose standard shank trowels are anything but standard . They come with a wide variation in handle angle .

    • @brickbybric
      @brickbybric Před 3 lety +1

      @@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 the only way you’ll know for certain you have or are getting a low lift trowel w.rose is through the mpn which are different from the standard shank mpn and even then , taking into account the wide variation of the standard shank w.rose trowels you couldn’t be sure if you order a low lift shank trowel you ll receive one you’ll get on with . I’ve seen a decent number of these rose trowels for sale on eBay uk from guys who have them a short time and most of then Who give a reason for selling say they bought it but couldn’t get on with them and if you private msg them they’ll Tell you the handle angle is the problem either way to high or way to low. You should always if you can buy your trowel in person but of all the trowel brands your trusting to luck if you buy a rose on line . Other trowel brands like Marshalltown will vary slightly in the handle angle but not as much as the rose . Iv never picked up a m.t trowel that I couldn’t get on with apart from one wooden handle one that I took the handle of and made adjustments to . But iv picked up plenty of roses that I couldn’t use.

    • @brickbybric
      @brickbybric Před 3 lety

      @@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 that’s always a good idea , when a private seller is selling a specific trowel. But if your buying from a tool supplier you have no way of knowing what you’ll get sent regarding w.rose . As for asking any of the tool suppliers about anything we have discussed you’d be wasting your time they wouldn’t have a clue, one m.t or w.rose would be the same as the next with them apart from knowing the difference between a wide London narrow London Philadelphia . The most uniform of all the trowel brands iv come across is the Whs / tyzack, Handle angle on them is excellent. Certainly proclaiming a w.rose to be a standard shank or low lift shank trowel based on visual appearance is bring yourself down the wrong road . If buying a new rose it’s best to start with the manufactures part number to know which type your dealing with and then pick one base on how good it looks and feels in the hand. Iv had hundreds of w.rose trowels through my hands and all of them have been standard shank trowels based on the m.p.n. . Iv never come across a low lift one by m.p.n .

    Is it Shawnee ks or shawneeks . Ks is the abbreviation for Kansas . Shawnee kansas is the headquarters of kraft tools who own w.rose . That’s interesting because I recently came across a real estate ad that had the w.rose factory unit listed for sale in sharon hill . So who knows if w.rose has been moved to Kansas and they are selling the factory or maybe w.rose never owned the sharon hill factory and third party owners are putting it up for sale with w.rose as sitting tenants .
