    Good video bro. Wanted to ask if where u place the new hinge near the back right tail light of the jeep leaves any gaps from the outside letting in water and such?

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching! The hinge doesn’t contact the light at all, no drainage or range of motion restrictions. I’ve had it on for over a year and it’s been great, hope this helps.

      Fritz thanks! Yes it has eliminated 99% of the noises I was getting before the install!

    How does it work off road? I have the rugged ridge adapter for my 35 inch spare and my tail gate doesn’t sound too good on wash board roads, would this change that do you think? Thanks for your video!

      Aaron Chandler that’s what mine was doing before the HD hinge. It’s definitely a lot better but it’s still there if you listen closely. I would recommend doing it before the metal is permanently weakened.

    The main issue for me is no cb mount. Well built carrier and that’s my only issue. I’m going to drill and tap some holes in the carrier for a Teraflex cb bracket.

      Rubi Fourxfour I thought about doing that for a hi-lift mount on the hinge section. Besides the carrier not telescoping I’m pretty happy with it.

      Frostbite JL I only purchased the hinge reinforcement part. I got the Teraflex Alpha HD tire mount. It has nice adjustability and snugs the tire into the Rugged Ridge reinforcement.

      Rubi Fourxfour that looks like a cool setup, I was actually considering that combo as well. I do like how the Alpha repositions the third brake light and camera.

    Will those bump stops fit a 2020 JL? Cause Amazon says it won't fit. Thanks! Good video.

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Před 4 lety +1

      Joe Davis yes they will fit, it’s more of a universal part, I had them on my JK as well and worked great. Hope this helps!

    After installing this rugged ridge spartacus hd tire carrier, did you hear any rattling or vibration or any sounds like can't handle a 35 size tires? Also when you open the door does it feels like stock cause is heavy tires. Is it easy to open the door or no?

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Před 4 lety

      Jay Hernandez there is a lot less noise if any now with the HD carrier. My old setup with the same tires clunked and made the rear glass rattle off-road. It is a new hinge so at first it will have more resistance but nothing crazy, after a week it’s nice to open. I definitely recommend it if you’re on the stock carrier with larger tires!

      @@FROSTBITEOFFROAD So your saying there still little sounds like rattling or clunking right? The rattling and clunking did not go away just less right?

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Před 4 lety

      Jay Hernandez the noise is 98% gone. I still hear some slight glass noise but I think I waited too long to upgrade. With the rear glass up or top off there is zero noise. The clunking is gone, it was pretty bad before, I had several passengers ask what the clunking was. I’d recommend this upgrade if you need it!

    I really appreciate your videos, thanks! Can you provide a link for the bumpstop you used here? I’m having trouble finding one, also if the bearing in the hinges are good quality sealed bearings you’ll want the sealed no lube type in my opinion. They last longer then the lubed type. Thanks again!

      Aaron Chandler No problem Aaron! Thanks for watching, yeah the hinges have been holding up great through winter. Here is a link for the bump stops amzn.to/38oGQLz I’ll add it to the video description as well. Happy trails!

      @@FROSTBITEOFFROAD I see the bump stop on amazon, about how much did you cut off the bump stop? I'm buying the rugged ridge tire carrier right now, i'd like to have that bump stop too but do you think it helps? Thanks for the link!

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Před 4 lety

      Aaron Chandler I would get them, it’s an extra contact point to help with tire movement. They have a step design to them, where you can cut at each ridge to desired length. The size you need to cut will be determined by tire width and wheel offset. You can mount your tire and measure the size you need, then cut to the size that works best.

    Glad I didn't watch this before I bought it. I LOVE having an extra 6" of my rear window unnecessarily obstructed....

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Před 3 lety

      Yeah it does sit high, I have tapped it on ledges before so I’m glad it’s not any lower for wheeling. For daily driving it is a little inconvenient. Thanks for watching!
