    Might recommend shutting off power at the breaker since the light fixture isn't necessarily dead with the switch off depending on how it's wired. I realize you probably installed this yourself years ago and know how it's wired but the average homeowner may not know this. Nice work as usual.

  • @LouisianaTractorworks

    You are right Martin, that is much brighter. You picks up a wide area too. Have a good week! See ya!

    "Don't try this at home, it can only be done on CZcams." You win the internet today Martin! Also, love the "motion sensor dance"...you've got some groovy moves there! Kidding aside, the light outside my garage has recently begun exhibiting signs of it's impending demise...I like the look of this so more than likely you've cost me money yet again! 👍😉😎

      Hi Chris! Really? I won the whole Internet?? Where the heck am I going to put it? Guess I’ll have to build a bigger shop. Glad you like my groovy moves. No need to thank me. I’m always happy to help you spend your money! 😄 Thanks for watching!

    My solution is your solution, right down to the brand. I have the exact same light over my shop door. It works very well. My only complaint is raccoons and deer at night. Great video Martin.

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem +1

      Hi Marty! No surprise there. As they say, great minds…. Yep, same here. The raccoons kept triggering mine and it would shine into to our dining room while we were eating supper so I installed a home automation switch on it to keep it off during supper hours. Thanks for watching!

  • @tractortalkwithgary1271

    I have not been a big fan of motion sensing lights, but I think you have a winner here Martin.

    I spent a good percentage of my career either climbing a ladder to get to a roof or working off of a ladder making repairs....So I know what ya mean. I liked you doing the lamp on/off two step !! I just have a dusk to dawn and I really need to upgrade to something like these if for no other reason energy savings. Ya did the typical excellent job my friend.

    I can't count how many times I've done that dance!
    I can't wait to see the "light went out cause I didn't move enough dance" when your working on something.
    I put a big 50w flat led panel with motion detector on the barn about 3 years back. have already replaced it once, but love the "stadium lighting" especially when I have a project that won't fit through the door (or 'cause there is too much stuff in the way inside). I put a similar one to yours on the house, its been much more reliable and gives really good light...

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem

      Hi Bubba! And I won’t admit to how many times I’ve done that dance. Don’t hold your breath on the “lights went out” dance. That one isn’t like to make into a video. Stadium lighting! Now that’s how to do it! Thanks for watching!

    Well done Martin. I like that style of fixture.
    My shop is 34x60. I have 1 dual head flood light w/motion and 3 other dual heads. 1 on the front w/motion, one on the back and 1 on both side (midway). I wired them so once motion is detected all 4 fixtures turn on. I use LED bulbs. I went with RAB brand (STL200H). The motion sensor picks up 200 degrees. This has worked for me the past 10 years. I have a electrician friend recommend RAB fixtures. He told me they never have had a return call once they installed the RAB fixtures. If I had to change today I would stay w/ RAB. So much new stuff is coming on the market it's hard to stay on top of which to choose. We have been visited by bears so I like to see when I come out of the shop.

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem

      Thanks, Kenny! Sounds like you have a good set up! Should light up those bears really well. I haven’t heard of RAB, I’ll have to look into them. Thanks for watching!

    Interesting what can be done on CZcams! You've got me laughing at your motion sensor dance. Beyond movement, do you think it can sense attitude too? Lol! I have dusk to dawn light bulbs near the garage and hangar door. But nothing to provide light further than the few feet around the door. That flood light is a good option. Thanks!

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  Před rokem

      Yes indeed, Joe! On CZcams anything is possible. The “motion sensor” dance has proven more popular than I imagined. I may have to offers lessons. Oh it definitely senses attitude and I think it’s evident in the video. 😁 Thanks for watching!

    It's nice when a product exceeds your expectations, isn't it?
    I've gotten hooked on these solar charged motion detector LED lamps. Several have been working for a few years now, and they seem to work just fine in the cold winter.
    Being in a remote location without grid power, they do just fine illuminating my way as I walk around the shop. They also help a lot as scare lights - I've gotten trail cam photos of a couple of bear running away from my shop.

      Yes indeed it is. I know the type of of lights you’re talking about. It’s amazing how well some of them work. Thanks for watching!
