One of the most enlightening things I learned from your videos is to let the tree dictate it’s design, rather than try to make it into your idea of what you want it to look like. That was a game changer for me.

      @@peterchan3100 Hello!
I just discovered your videos tonight---after hearing on the Bonsai FB website that I am a member of, that all bonsai videos on CZcams are garbage. I have learned more from your videos, after just one evening of viewing, than I have learned from ANY advice on that website. I am a complete NEWBIE. I have purchased some small spruce, dwarf Japanese maple, and boxwood from a local nursery, plus I have probably 30 red maple sprouts in my vegetable garden, and to my delight, 5 Norway spruce have sprouted in my old garden, all thanks to my neighbor's generous trees. I have also sprouted 10 pin oaks from acorns that I collected from the ground at work, in the refrigerator over the winter. I look forward to your video advice along the way. ( A beautiful, already styled Juniper bonsai arrived on my porch today--just so I'd have ONE tree that was already well on it's way, to inspire me). Your videos will do the same! Thank you so much!!

I just styled this kind of Juniper and without any wiring it looks beautiful. It had a “Y” trunk and I cut the smaller part of the Y trunk and made a Jin. The larger part of the Y trunk had a wonder kind of jagged bend in it, as though it had been wired into that position, and it leans dramatically, again as though it was wired to do so. It’s one of my best bonsai to date. And I followed your directions and it looks so nice. Thank you for what you do.
