#NeverBeenToSpain #ThreeDogNight #Reaction - Zábava
The phrase “Three Dog Night” used to mean that it was a REALLY cold night, and you needed three dogs to keep you warm.
That's so funny because it is a Very cold night here in Wisconsin (currently -5°) and I am burrowed under the covers with my three dogs with me, my German Shepherd, Bullitt, my Long haired Chihuahua/Pappion mix, Pippin, and my Tibetan Spaniel, Agnes, and my tablet & headphones, spending the cold evening watching CZcams videos. It is a Three Dog Night and all's right with the world.
@@CuzKatieSaysSo How perfect! sounds like a very cozy evening! 😁 stay warm!
@@CuzKatieSaysSo LOVE IT!!! It's colder than that here (in the farthest NE corner of South Dakota). We don't have any dogs, and don't think I'd like having three of my son-in-law's chickens in the house--especially in bed--with me! We do have cats, but they all sleep outside and guard the chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and whatever other birds my s-i-l happens to have at the moment. Really they DO guard them! Strange, huh?
What we DO have inside to help keep everyone warm, is 12 people! My husband and I are Grandma and Grandpa, then there's our youngest daughter (of six children), her husband, and their eight children (ranging from 19 down to the littlest, who will be four in just two weeks). 😀
Whoa… had no idea. Good to know
Three Dog Night are a great American-Irish rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Some other great songs are "One", "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", Eli's Coming", Shambala", "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Joy To The World", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
Oh, yeah, Dagmar! I especially love "Joy" and also "Mama told me not to come" (written by the inimitable Randy Newman... lol)
All of those are great songs!
YES!!! All some of my very favorite songs of all time. 😀
Hey, Dagmar!! "Try A Little Tenderness" & "Joy To The World" are my favorites with "One" & "Black & White" as well-loved tunes, too.
Joy to the World has one of the best first lines in rock history. Definitely need a reaction to that. And I love Old Fashioned Love Song, one of my favorites. Also: One, Shambala, Easy to be Hard, Black and White, Mama Told Me Not to Come, Eli's Coming, Liar... just so many good ones!
All 3 dog night songs are equally good. Very top notch story songs. You haven't heard 3 dog night until you hear Joy to the World.
Yes, n their Live shows r excellent. They really rock the stage. Thx ✌🏻
@dennish3032 -- YES!!! Another one of my favorites...but then...as you mentioned, all their songs are equally good! I used to play them (and a few other bands, but especially them) all day long, when my kids were little. 😀
Personal favorites "Eli's Coming" "Shambala" "Liar"
Yes, n Mama Told Me Not to Come is awesome live
Everyone is saying Joy to the World, and they don't mean the Christmas song. You really need to hear that one.
Agreed...all the boys and girls...!!! 😀
...and the fishes... 😀
You can hardly go wrong with 3 dog night. Hope you do more and they have some entertaining live clips out I know you will enjoy
definitely a rabbit hole worth going down.
Awww... Three Dog Night. So much fun. Mama Told Me Not to Come, Joy to the World, An Old Fashioned Love Song... lots more. They're all gems in their own way.
One of them has passed away, the other two still tour but separately, only one is using the name “Three Dog Night”.
Love this song! Glad you reacted to it. 😊 Gotta do “Eli’s Coming” and “Momma Told Me”!
Three Dog Night has so many great songs.
I grew up listening to Three Dog Night due to my oldest brothers. You need to listen to "Joy to the World".
Probably the greatest cover band ever, turning decent songs into monster hits over and over.
Three great lead singers, Chuck Negron, Cory Wells, and Danny Hutton, plus their backup musicians made for fantastic arrangements and harmonies.
There is no such thing as a bad song by this group. “Joy To The World,” “Shambala,” “Brickyard Blues,” “In The Country,” etc, etc. Fun Fact: Hoyt Axton was the dad in “Gremlins.”
Try a little Tenderness (68) , Liar (70), Celebrate (69), Eli's Coming (69), Easy to be hard (69 from musical HAIR), Mama told me (70), Joy to the world ((70), Out in the country (70), Pieces of, April (72), Shambala (73), imho are far better than Old Fashioned love song. Had a lot of their albums a long, long time ago....
Hoyt Axton was a somewhat prolific song writer for other people, wrote The Pusher and Snowblind Friend for Steppenwolf, Joy To The World and Never Been To Spain for Three Dog Night, his mother co-wrote Heartbreak Hotel
I don't think you can miss with Three Dog Night. It's ALL good, and they offer many flavors. ❤
IDK that "Old-Fashioned Love Song" was BETTER, I think that it just appealed to a wider age group and broader range of musical tastes. It's an excellent song regardless.
"One" is a great song, too.
"Eli's Coming" is fantastic, you really should check it out. Much harder, darker, edgier style from TDN.
Best “cover band” ever. (Linda Ronstadt being the best cover artist).
Also, you absolutely need to see a live performance by these guys - I’d suggest “Eli’s Coming “ (especially given your comment about their swag).
Joe Cocker would get my vote.
Yup Joe Cocker is another but Linda does only covers and like Pentatonix she usually does them better
Saw Three Dog Night in 1973. Great concert. The opening act was the Doobie Brothers, who nobody had ever heard of. They were also amazing and about a week later Listen to The Music hit the radio.
three Dog Night were HUGE! The only band I know with three full time lead singers who didn't play instruments except tambourines. They covered tons of songs best: The Band's Chest Fever, Otis Reddings' Try a Little Tenderness, Joy to the World, Mama Told Me Not to Come, One... among so many others. Definitely worth a deep dive!
My favorite Three Dog Night songs, "One," and "Mama Told Me Not To Come."
Another classic from my youth. Thanks, again, for triggering fond memories of listening to this band with my older brother. He's smiling down from Heaven (not Oklahoma), and smiling. Oh, and jamming. 🙂
Ive seen them twice. So many hits that they cant do them all in 1 concert. Three brilliant lead singers. Ive been meaning to request Elis Coming live my favorite song by them. Youve barely scrastched the surface on these guys and yes they still tour
Saw them in a bar in Oklahoma in ‘83!! Awesome show! “One” is still my favorite!!🤘🔥
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Also I live in Alaska and have three dogs….
2 Alaska (mushing type mutts) husky mixes and an Australian Shepherd.
Hey there! I grew up in Alaska, which is where I was still living until 1978. I grew up in Valdez, and it was shortly after the quake and we had started moving everyone over to the new town, when my friends and I started our little folk band.
How long have you lived in Alaska?
I haven't heard this for a LONG time! It used to be one of my very, very, very favorite songs, from one of very, very, very favorite bands. In the late 60s, I (and three of my friends) had a folk band, and in 1969, when we were all going our separate ways after high school graduation, we had JUST started listening to Three Dog Night. We actually sang this one, which is kind of funny, since we were four young women. We just changed the one line from "Say the ladies are insane there," to "Say the men they are insane there." It worked for us! 😀
It's such a fun song. I still find myself singing it now and then...and just sang it all the way through with you. THANK YOU! That was fantastic! 😀
Eli’s Coming is an amazing song, the harmonies are stellar
Agreed! 😀
Their 1975 live concert video really showcases each man’s talent as well as the campy fun they had performing! I grew up loving this band, 61 now and still rocking out to them!
Three Dog Night was the first concert I ever saw, in 1970. They were pretty close to their peak then. 7 great talents.
One thing that you can say about Three Dog Night, they did Fun Music.
Gonna be odd coming from me, but watch the stage performance/official vid of Old Fashioned... (these guys were real characters on stage.)
To me, 3 Dog Night was one of the major sounds of the 70's it's a, 3 dog Night, Carpenters, Helen Ready, Ann Murray kind of vibe. The thing that connects them all is Singer, writer, actor, writer, Paul Williams
Do you remember Phantom of the Paradise? He kinda fell of the radar, but I always liked Paul Williams' songs.
Best covers band ever.
Black and White is one of my favorite Three Dog Night songs! Shambala, Joy to the World (I still don'tknow why they brought old Jeremiah into it), Old Fashioned Love Song . . . I love them all!
🎉🎉🎉up to you to decide. Old Fashion Love Song, by Three Dog Night is a great song.....Three Dog Night's songs were played EVERY WHERE on the airwaves back in the late 60's and 70's....I mean EVERYWHERE!!! They are one of my all-time favorite Rock bands. 😊😊😊😊
I grew up with 3DN! One of my favorite groups of all time. My future (and current) husband took me to Blossom Music Center at least three times during the early '70s before we got married. Kickin' back on the lawn, being swamped by second-hand weed smoke... Those were the days! So happy to revisit such a fantastic group, 50+ years later!
Back when they really cared about making great music....
Omg it's still amazes me when I find out you've never heard of a band or seen them or you're starting a journey. I can't wait to go with you further. These guys got some serious gems. I'm very happy for you
So WISH You'd do live versions of the older groups. There were 7 members with 3 lead singers. They took turns depending on who's voice best suited the song. The only original member left is Danny Hutton, Corey Wells passed away and Chuck Negron officially left in 1985. Saw 3 Dog Night last year. Corey took the lead on this song. Check out Try A Little Tenderness early version. THE 3 IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE ARE THE SINGERS DANNY, CHUCK, COREY.
Most of their songs are rock, and you really should use one of the videos that is a LIVE performance. All 3 long singers are fantastic. They switch off lead, too, so you never know who's singing by the title. ALL songs are great. Check out "Shambala" live 1975.
Love your reactions! I love so many 3DN songs, but “Mama Told Me Not To Come” has to be one of my favorites. You might check out their live performance of this one!
I love Joy to the world!! Great band, so glad you reacted to them, there are a lot of really good songs so enjoy!!😊
My favorite song of theirs thank you ❤❤❤ My 2nd favorite is Mama told me not to come😊
F-ing great band! You can't go wrong exploring their catalog.
Three Dog Night _owned_ the airwaves in the 70s and were the sing-along in many a party and beer tent; I'm sure many of us remember all the lyrics to most TDN songs. "Shambala," "Eli's Coming," and "Joy to the World" are the tip of a great iceberg.
There really isn’t bad song from this group.
As a teenager I didn’t appreciate them. I do now. They were terrific.
I have always adored this song !! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Greatest cover band ever!
It was nice having older siblings who played these albums non-stop! I was only 7 or 8 years old, but know them all by heart.
Of their many hits, this is my favorite. love the country vibe.
Hoyt Axton was from Oklahoma. He was the Dad in Gremlins. Love his songs he wrote.
The most successful cover band ever!
Love me some 3 Dog Night. Whoever takes the lead is absolutely spectacular.
Thanks, Salvo! (yes, Randy Newman!... "Mama Told me not to Come") - you probably have heard quite a few by 3-dog.. maybe "Joy to the World"? appreciate your reaction and hope you do more...
I have not heard this in so long! Brings back memories of high school, they were a staple of my mom and dads. Thanks for the reaction and the memories.
My daughter bought a shirt at a consignment shop that said "Never been to Heaven, But I've been to Oklahoma". We thought it was hysterical. Thought it was a homemade "old-lady" shirt. Then I heard a cover band play this song, and I laughed so hard. Such a groovy song. I love it!
Oh yeah. Born in Oklahoma, raised in Arizona. Been to Spain and England. Had three dog nights for several days. Only got above zero this afternoon.
I've been having five dog and two cat nights! Cold!
@@sharmullins3894 Same here, but all we have is chickens and other birds out in the barn and the breeding coop. Ah well...
@@GrandmasGotGraceLW Yeah, I'm not a fan of sleeping with the poultry! LOL
Shambala is my favorite Three Dog Night song. But this is probably tied for my second favorite along with "Just an old fashioned love song". You will just really enjoy "Mama told me not to come".
Mama told me
Easy to Be Hard is another great song from them!!!
One of the best things to come out of the 60s and 70s
One of my very favorite bands from my teenage years. Their drummer from 1993 to recently, Pat Bautz, went to my high school and was in band with my sister. I'm sure he was a big fan of theirs when he was a teenager too, and I imagine it was very exciting to join the band later. He retired just recently.
Hoyt Axton wrote it, three dog night made it a hit
Ohhh yessss!!
3 Dog Night. 💃
One of my favorites of theirs.❤
KILLER BASE LINE!!!
Many, many gems you will find this band...Shambala is a fav but there are so many!
Great choice!!
These guys were great. Three wonderful lead singers (but not the origin of their name). Short 2.5 to 3.5 minute songs is what the recording industry pushed, because of AM radio play pushed the buttons of listeners to buy records, and singles record sales is what drove the ratings. JOY TO THE WORLD by 3DN will put a smile on any human's face.
Agreed! Now you have me whistling it. 😀
The whole album is great
Shambala, Eli's Coming, Joy to the World, & this song - classic!
Great reaction, my man. You've stumbled upon another great group.
For your next sampling, I suggest "Joy to the World." 👍✌️🎸
This song is just a good time from start to finish! Eli's Coming, One, Easy to Be Hard, and Mama Told Me Not to Come ( a big hit) are my favorites along with this song. Shambala and Liar are good too. Old Fashioned Love Song was a hit although it wasn't one I responded to. But they're always excellent artists!
Definitely check out some live performances. There's a live version of Eli's Coming from a 1975 Sound Stage performance I think you'd really enjoy. If you hear the studio version first, it's impressive to see how well they pull it off live.
Curiously I just saw a video advertised over on the Professor of Rock YT channel that explains that while Three Dog Night were amazing artists, singers and musicians, who put on really fun shows, not one of their 21 hits was written by anyone in the band. Greatest cover artists of all time, arguably! If you want more I would suggest "Liar"!
Eli’s coming, Black and White, One, Mama told me not to come, so many songs by them you should check out
3 Dog Night is one of my favorite of all time. I recommend Mama Told me not to Come. I got to see them live in a small club in the late 80s. ❤❤❤
I was fortunate enough to have seen Three Dog Night three times, early in their career (early 70s). They put on amazing shows--very entertaining. All three times, they were at the San Diego Sports Arena (basketball arena and hockey palace) in the days before Jumbo-trons and other high tech stuff. They sounded great, even in that huge venue.
Black and White is revelent today by them.
This is definitely the on the soundtrack of my childhood, I remember clearly being at the pool with their songs blaring over the terrible speakers.
TDN and The Grass Roots were my go to's as a young young kid... still are!
Whenever oldsters complain about 'kid's music these days' my go-to joke is that they probably are still listening to Three Dog Night.
Check out their live version of "Eli's Coming"....it's fire!!🔥🔥
Out In The Country.
YES! 😀
saw them live back in the day, great performers
A favorite band of my childhood. Eli's Coming being my fave song.
Three Dog Night can be a 2-3 week rabbit hole if you choose to go down it.... time well invested indeed... you will enjoy their range and sound
It still amazes me that Hoyt Axton wrote this. He is best known for playing the dad in the movie Gremlins but he was a singer/songwriter too. Doesn't seem like something he would write if you've ever seen him singing or in one of his many acting roles.
My list of fav 3 dog night songs: EASY TO BE HARD; JOY TO THE WORLD; BLACK AND WHITE
Rabbit Hole time! Many good songs and hits, lots of them were covers played by other bands. But 3 Dog Night's versions were done so good that they stood on their own. I suggest "Mama Told Me Not To Come" next. Enjoy!
If it helps, pick anything; there are no bad 3DN songs.
Got to do “Joy To the World” next , the other Hoyr Axton cover. It’s a classic one
You have to look at their live videos, fantastic!
Luv ur site..ur explanations a reviews..plus ur calm and collected..very enjoyable 😅
One
Listen to One and out in the country two of my favorites first concert I ever went to and it was totally awesome I was 12 years old and standing in my chair
I'm not too familiar with their albums but they had a ton of hits in their time. Please check out some more for reactions. I bet you'll enjoy them.
Old Fashion Love Song is my fav from them. But they have many good songs
This inspired me to pull out my copy of this album and listen to it again.
I love them. I got my grandparents into them. However, upon reflection, they may have been humoring me.
Been awhile since I heard this song. Interesting
More 3DN please!!! Eli's Coming Live!
