    He was a great guitarist and singer, popular doesn't mean good. Musicians understand.

    The slide solo is George and then Alvin takes the second solo, an absolute stunner.

    10 Years After!!! Check out “I’m goin’home” from Woodstock.
    It will blow your mind! And George? OMG. Never heard this.
    I’m here for it!!

      I'm Going Home by Ten Years After at Woodstock was pure rock & roll history!

      I was going to recommend that but you got here first. Unbelievable energy. Alvin was a reluctant rock star, hating the limelight but deserving it nonetheless.

    5:32 I love this song. You should listen to another friend of George's, Gary Moore, a great blues guitarist was notably with Thin Lizzy. The song is Still Got The Blues.

    The original guitar wizard. He played with such speed and precision, without all the tricks the shredders use, and his mastery of the instrument was incredible. On top of that he had a feel for rock and blues like no other.

    @johndef5075 Pƙed 16 dny +9

    You need to check his set in the Woodstock movie. One of the highlights imo.

    Depeche Mode got three times the views and five times the 👍’s. Love DM but it’s a crying shame that this is so little known. Lee criminally underrated as guitarist, imo.

    During the 70's and 80's I attended a lot of concerts, almost all of the big groups. Alvin Lee and Ten Years After was one of the best Blues/Rock bands ever. It was a tough time for bands when you look at the competition during the 70's, and not everyone can continue writing big hits.

    I confess that I haven't heard much of Alvin Lee's solo stuff. I mostly know him from his stint with 10 Years After. As others have mentioned, his performance of "Goin' Home" at Woodstock is absolute FIRE!

    I was in my early twenties when Ten Years After appeared on the scene. Although Clapton, Beck, and Page got all the attention, I always thought Alvin Lee was as good as any of 'em. And I believe he was the first shredder. I saw TYA at the Rose Palace in Pasadena with The Moody Blues and Spirit, all for $5. OMG, those were the days.

    • @w.geoffreyspaulding6588

      Well,for SURE in this particular solo, I would say he’s every bit as good as the triumvirate you mentioned. None of the three could have done it any better for sheer emotive power, IMO. I would LOVE to hear what David Gilmour would have done with it in his heyday.

    George Harrison on slide guitar is probably the best slide solo of all time and then Alvin Lee second lead on guitar is masterful. 2 of the greatest guitar players of all time. RIP my fellow guitar players!

    • @helenespaulding7562
      @helenespaulding7562 Pƙed 16 dny

      Well, I’d have to put in a plug for Jimmy Page’s slide solo on In Ny Time of Dying and some of David Gilmour’s slide work, but no question this is superb.
