Stevie Ray Vaughan making people who don’t play guitar wish they could , and those that playing guitar feel like they can’t .
:D Nicely written. Very true.
Or The late GREAT Jeff Healy.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is the king 🤴
Stevie used the thickest strings out there and he still breaks em like uncooked spaghetti!!!
The strength of his hands, no doubt a result of the hundreds of thousands of hours spent with a guitar in them, had a lot to do with the musical acrobatics he was capable of.
I actually think he used bridge cables on his guitar...
@@ffjsb 🤣
My brother in law plays the same kind of guitar and said Stevie must have freakishly strong fingers to break those 12 gauge strings he uses, my brother in law only uses 9 gauge and they hurt his fingers.
Stevie actually Made a sorta Frankenstein set of strings, he basically made his own custom set but the lowest strings were always really thick
The reason it works so well is because Stevie was so good, he could finish the solo with only five strings, look over at his tech René Martinez as if to summon him, and while the song goes into stop time (where the drums and rhythm section plays short accented hits usually on beat 1 and then rests for the rest of the bar), René and Stevie have exactly four bars to do a little dance where Stevie yanks the cable out of his guitar, pops the strap off to hand it to René, René straps the second guitar onto him, and Stevie plugs the second guitar in and comes in EXACTLY on beat for the groove to continue where the stop time goes back into the regular groove. It's basically the equivalent of a frame-perfect game speedrun. There was an instantaneous window for that cable to lock into place and for Stevie's hands to get right into position to keep playing. Then, René sneaks away to put a new string on the guitar Stevie was just shredding on.
Favorite SRV quote, "I use heavy strings, tune low, play hard, and floor it. Floor it. That's technical talk." Thing is though, he was also a great showman and had a great guitar tech to back him up.
That’s Reese Wynans on the keyboard. He plays with Joe Bonamassa now. He’s amazing.
Yep....Reese doesn't get the recognition he ought to.
Was a different band we he joined double trouble.
He fit in so well, made their sound more full and complete than the traditional 3 piece.
And his runs were awesome as well!
Mr. Wynans was "late" addition to the "Double Trouble" lineup of Tommy Shannon (bass) and Chris Layton on drums. Tommy Shannon spent his "youthful days" with Johnny Winter, so you know he's got "heritage."
Reese is Phenominal....And Joe is simply Brilliant
ONE of the reasons he's the GOAT ! Changes guitars WITHOUT missing a beat !!
❤THE MAN WAS THE BEST THERE EVER WAS!!!❤ GOD WAS SHOWING OFF WHEN HE MADE STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN!!!🎸🎸🎸
exactly!
💯
Nope.
@@1perfectpitch ok so who is your pick?
Randy Rhodes
he smooth so smooth
This is one of my favorite blues jams because it's got that honky tonk piano in the back lighting the way for Stevie's guitar to cryyyyy.
Lil Sister is drawing attention...It think the keyboard guys fingers were dancing like Lil Sis. Props to the guitar tech.
I've said it a million times....
The only Man on the planet who plays Hendrix better than Hendrix!!!
you need to see Robert Randolph do it on a steele guitar
SRV - The Greatest! THIS is why you must always watch live!
Now, switch it up and react to one of his rock-radio hits “Crossfire”
I love Stevie Ray Vaughan
Your reaction was priceless. I am 68 years old, love watching the younger generation getting to see some great musicians that are no longer with us. Thank you!
He's not one of He is the King of the guitar. He is the Guitar. ❤❤
He did that all the time.❤❤ Nothin' bothered Stevie just kept on goin' ❤❤That's my Stevie Ray.❤❤
No doubt that guitar tech earned his money there.
Simply...The GOAT OF GOATS! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Smoothest guitar swap ive ever seen, saw stevie play live twice never forget it.
Your reaction is priceless...Stevie would have approved 👉👍The G.O.A.T
Stevie was born with that guitar! They are one.
"Life Without You", live at Capitol theater.
All the crazy antics, a guitar switch AND a message in the middle.
It's just special.
The GOAT.
Respect kiddo he could destroy the heaviest gage strings and pick up another guitar 🎸 and not miss a beat I seen it ❤🤙
Yah SRV doesn't need all 6 strings, he plays the notes he needs on the remaining 5! That roadie gets kudos for the smooth guitar swap.
He was the GOAT! 🐐
Stevie said I don’t play with finesse I play like I’m breaking out of jail. He was a beast and played with up to 13 gauge strings at times especially in his younger years but he primarily stuck with 11 gauge which is still huge and he snapped them like twigs.
Respect old rock and roll...it was the best music ever
The guitar change got applause.
This is my favorite video of Stevie playing like he did. A lot of musicians can handle having a broken string but he doesn't miss a note or a lyric, looks back at his tech guy, does a swap and keeps going as cool as you please. I don't remember the song it was done on but there's at least one video out there with him playing behind his back part way through the song.
From a 60s baby, SRV was the GO TO! Out in the back yard, "playing like this" is what is hard to hear in the video! 😉 Continued Blessings! ❤
Actually that is shaking like this, not playing.
LOVE SRV!!!! I’m so glad you’re back to him❤️
One of my favorite by SRV. Wow Reese fastest fingers ever. After seeing this version check his duet with Jeff Healey. Line is Out In The Backyard Playing Like This. Approx 5:22 see broken string. Smooth guitar 🎸 change. You're one of the few reactors that notices the broken string.
Yes!! JEFF HEALEY and SRV together needs to be his next reaction vid.
Love love this song 💕 love srv
You should be reading the lyrics along with what he's singing that way you know what he's saying, it don't matter what he sings he did it with style, the man had an impeccable voice
SRV videos are what your guitar watches when you are not home.
Stevie dont need 6 strings to play like 🔥. Stevie had been playing guitar 26-ish years at this point. He practiced 5 hours a day, his ex wife said he would be playing in his sleep. Stevie WAS the guitar.
Yes you saw one of his strings break and now you're fixing to see the greatest transition of one guitar out of his hands and another one put in his hands and never misses a Beat ..... Spot On !
I love your expression when they do the guitar switch.
Love listeming to Reese too.
SRV is my guitar hero. There was and is no one like him. How much he is missed.😢
Thank you for playing I love Stevie Ray
❤SRV. RIP🌹
SRV-Legend, IMO the best ever, no disrespect to the other greats, but man no one did it as smooth as him
Every performance he does has something....try...life without you...has a beautiful message
Loved the reaction Greg as always. Dude you should check out Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life Without You (live at the Capitol Theatre). Imo this is the best performance ever. Thanks for the awesome reaction.
SRV is a legend! Great stuff man
YUP, YOU SAW IT HERE!
Little sister was getting down in front of the neighbors...;p Hey, it's hot here in Texas :)
One of the most tragic losses to music. Stevie
Ray
It was like a NASCAR pit stop
SRV… rest in paradise King ❤
I've watched a bunch of reaction videos of this performance and it amazes me how many people don't catch the string pop. At least you noticed it a little after it popped, but many never catch it and then when the smoothest guitar swap ever was done they wonder why Stevie Ray switched guitars.
You were smiling through the whole video! Love your reaction! ❤
Im so glad i got to see him live and in person. There aren't words to describe that kind of talent
Welcome to the music of SRV. Enjoy .
Love your reaction to the broken string and the guitar change. So many miss it
A king drummer, a king bass player - what do they need - kings on keyboards and guitar.
I remember seeing Jeff Beck on the "There & Back" tour, in 1980 (in Washington D.C.) and -- take into account of how aggressively Jeff plays his guitar, now -- he broke a string on his guitar during a song. Well, apparently the Tech/stage crew did not get him his replacement guitar quickly enough because Jeff started banging his guitar on the stage, while it was still plugged in, and he was sending fire-bolts out of his eyes off stage waiting for that sorry eff-er to get his new guitar to him! The blunt, brutal sound of the guitar hitting the stage and the whole audience picking up the "tension" in the moment was very cool to watch. When Jeff's in his groove you do not want to make him wait for a new guitar, when he breaks a string! Do not throw off Jeff's groove, y'all!
What I find most impressive about the guitar switch is that the tech had the white Strat already selected to the right pickup, and the tone and volume knobs in the right place.
The G.O.A.T ❤
here's the real kicker the strings that Stevie used were 13's which is one of the biggest thickest strings you can have on a guitar so to be able to break one of them that is amazing oh that being said Stevie Ray Vaughan had some big ass hands and fingers
SRV 🐐 🐐🐐🐐
The GOAT at work. Hold my beer.
I love the keys in this song.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey mama, look at little sister
Out in the back yard, playing like this
Greg need to react to Stevie ray, Vaughan and Johnny Copeland Tin Pan Alley live
SRV was the GOAT. He was taken way too early.🥺
That handoff reminded me of when I ran track, and all the time we spent practicing our baton handoff for relay races. lol
Sure you saw him play with the guitar behind his back the man was impeccable
He uses a NASCAR pit crew for his guitar changes.
G.O.A.T. Nuff said
The greatest there ever was
The GOAT to me…..
That's my man SRV the best
He's the goat
What is also even more amazing is he is completely self taught! Also I don't remember any more what gauge of string he used but they were thick!
SRV ~ The goatiest goat in all of goatness
Do yourself a HUGE favor:
**Texas Flood at El Macambo**
GOAT
Stevie was one of a kind
Nobody only he can do it plus he had great Roadies's. They did it in less than a minute.
SRV = GOAT 🔥
This version is the best of this song! ;) and breaks a string hehe
Straight up…near the end of his life, they started maki g his guitar strings out of piano wire. It was the only way he could play and not break strings all the time. And when he’d rip off the callouses on his fingers from playing, he’d superglue them back on and keep going. That is truth.
When anyone argues who is the best guitar player ever, which is subject, Stevie Ray Vaughan has to be in the top tier. If anyone says he isn’t then they just don’t know anything about guitar playing. Even if you don’t like his style you still have to admit he is still great.
Formula One team changing the tires right there... if you just listen to it, you'd never know. Formula One team right there
Not only a bad mamma jamma...
but my mothers cousin, too!
You need to react to Jeff Healey and SRV do this song, little sister, together!! Now that is absolute fire!!!
My homeboy.
Texas swing.
That's they way I am. I still am a Wild Child. ❤❤
Stevie's strings were 13 gauge, most use 7 to 9. Jim
It's a coming of age for the girl
Stevie was and is amazing. Take a listen to Couldn't stop the rain. I think that's the right name of the song lol.
That's called Couldn't Stand The Weather.
Stevie Ray Vaughan ... nothin' else to say.
SRV 'Tin Pan Alley' ft. Johnny Copeland live at Montreaux
Thanks, kid! Love your reaction.. and checkin' out Reese Wynans on those keyboards... as well as SRV with the smoothest guitar switch evah! when he breaks that string... hope you react to more...
Love your reactions
So glad I found ya!
Lil sister is dancing.
I AM ❤️ i Anit calmin' down.
Hey Mr. Greg, That was as smooth as jar of Skippy.. ♠W.G.
