He continues the solo with a broken string and if you weren't watching, you wouldn't know. He waits till the break in the song, nods his head, and like a NASCAR pit crew his tech runs out and he's playing again before its even strapped up ❤
NASCAR pit crew 😂😂
Rene Martinez.
Real musicians ! no takes, no do overs, no dubbing, ......just raw pure powerful beautiful music !
What a massive, massive talent, gone way too soon. RIP SRV.
👏🙌‼️ how impressive was that switch out? Stevie gave his guitar techs so much experience with changing out guitars that they performed like a race car pit crew. Guys the only time I "listen" to Stevie Ray is in my car with cd's. His studio recordings are excellent, but with the exception of Riveria Paradise on the In Step album, you won't have a better experience than when you watch. His passion for performing for people is where most of the energy and magic lies. Keep going with the live performances✌️💙💙🎶
YES! And please, SOMEBODY do his live Capitol theater performance of "Couldn't Stand the Weather"! from 1985!..Phenomenal!..Also, Reese' solo is even WAY better on that one, if you can believe it..Trust me on this one!
@@sjd5750 yes plus this features Chris on the drums and Tommy on the bass and then Reece who just kills it💯‼️🎶
Its a bit like Elvis...u just HAVE to see the performance...albums are good but live is on another level...its the sheer channelling of the music/song that is almost a religious experience!!
🎸Wonder no more why Stevie's legacy keeps growing. If anyone has has earned and deserves his place as a true Legend in music history, it is SRV. In an interview he quietly and simply said that his talent was as gift from God that he tried hard to repay.
Paid in full, Stevie. Paid in full. 🙏🔥
Saw SRV all over Austin and San Marcos Texas for years and years. Only once did I see him off stage. He was dating a younger Lou Ann Barton, arm in arm walking across 6th Street. I was so star struck all I could say was "Hey what's up Stevie?" Hey looks over and beams a smile I suppose a wink and whatever he said I honestly am not sure but he was really happy and Lou Ann had this huge smile looking at him when he glances at me and said something friendly. I had seen or heard him outside of Cheatham St Warehouse so many times I shouldn't have been awestruck and tongue tied. Anyway. He was as nice as his reputation. Almost angelic in his aura. You'll read that elsewhere. He was truly the nicest guy in show business of the era I'll bet. Especially considering he was the most talented person of his era, he stayed kind and humble and down to Earth.
@@Greg-io1ip that’s a great memory. Thanks for sharing it with us!
@midnitesunblues
Dang, your comment brought a tear to my eye. Lovely.💙🌿
@@Greg-io1ip
I just replied to @midnitesunblues that his (or her) comment brought a tear to my eye. Then I read your reply that instantly brought a tear to my other eye. Heck, more than one, to both eyes.
I've read 3 books about Stevie & you're right, so many people have commented on that almost angelic aura. He had such a beautiful heart & soul.
Thank you so much for sharing that memory with us.
💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙
One of the smoothest guitar swaps ever. Props to the guitar tech.
Buddy Guy gave him the biggest compliment ever after he passed.
"As a Bluesman , he was as good as anybody .... ever ."
RIP Stevie Ray you are sooooo missed!!!!!!
The one and only SRV.
Do you feel as fortunate as I to have experienced this very special artist. He just makes me smile everytime I hear him play.
I love the respect you two show towards SRV and all of the other greats. I absolutely adore SRV and will not pass by any reaction to his music. He is much better live, but I do have a few of his studio albums. Strange thing, until about 4 years ago, I had never listened to blues. My husband had been after me to check out SRV. I am ashamed to say that I never wanted to listen to him before because I am a hard rocker. I finally watched one of his performances, Texas Flood/live, and was hooked on SRV. I missed out on so much great music because I was just stubborn. RIP SRV 🎸🎶
It takes a hell of a woman to admit that and I admire you for it😁👏👏
Now what a tune for 11 am yes Mr stevie Ray Vaughan.........little sister cheers
With the great Buddy Guy at 87 on his Damn Right Farewell Tour, it would be great of y'all could react to his music. His powerful voice, incredible guitar playing is worth it.
Another legend.
Damn Right I Got the Blues, 5 Long Years, Feels Like Rain would be good ones to start with. Buddy Guy has played with everyone.
Thanks for this great reaction to beloved Stevie Ray Vaughn ❤
Let's talk about the cat on the keys............LOL
Best ACL ever my favorite by far.
They definitely had those guitar switches down real smooth and fast.
By the end of his career Stevie had about 5 or 6 guitars used in a single show, not counting backups. Different guitars for different songs.
Most guitarists usually have at least a half dozen back stage. Most quite a few more than that. You should see Billy Gibbons guitar collection just for the shows alone. He is rumored to have hundreds, the biggest collection in the world. EVH probably had the most amps and Billy had the most guitars.
Can't go wrong with SRV!!!
I’d recommend, In Step, for the studio album. He’s clean and sober and playing his ass off
Can't click fast enough when you guys react to SRV! The one I'm waiting for is "Third stone from the Sun" live at The El Macombo...you'll be speechless💯👈
GOD took him early because he did it all here, established himself as the GOAT and gave us plenty of tunes. Plays up there now for sure. RIP STEVIE
That's one of the first things I'll do when I get there. I'm going to a SRV concert!
What you guy's were saying about it being a keyboard song and then Stevie takes it back and breaks a string, The whole group ,Stevie, Double trouble and the guitar tec and support guys were so in tune with each other there's only one thing to call them, professionals. Love your review's.
Stevie Ray didn't even need guitar strings to play. 👌💯
"He is the blues". Such a great comment.
Stevie never disappoints.
Y'all have got to do the SRV video for Cold Shot. Many of your questions will be answered about his guitars. Plus it's filmed in Austin and has a ton of humor to it. Thanks for all your reviews....great job!
He had those tall musician flight cases that hold 20 guitars...probably had a couple of them
Well if you want some serious blues check out SRV & Albert King, In Session recorded in studio for a TV special. It’s freaking amazing! Also for early classic SRV swag, check out his live at Montreux 1982 performance where he hadn’t even received a recording contract yet. The first song is Hide Away & continue with a more blues Dirty Pool, my personal favorite.
The goat! Guys I keep telling y’all to play “leave my girl alone” and “tightrope” from that same live show from Austin city limits.
Smooth as butter. 🙃👍
Seen these performances many times and I’m constantly in awe. An amazing talent and a GOAT for sure. Love your SRV reactions.
His studio albums are great! His last album was so good! Wish we could’ve heard more from his career and see where his music would’ve gone.
Look at the song "Riviera Paradise". That was jazzy more than bluesy. He was growing still. Damn shame he's gone.
An absolute master of his instrument.
SRV is one of music's GOATS. You should see the video of B.B. King changing a string in the middle of a song, these OG Bluesmen were the shit!
Great reaction. 👍 SRV is the best guitar player in music history. 🎶
Always lets other people shine. That always impressed me as much as his playing and singn
You were mentioning liking the live videos so you can see him play and check out his fit. Legend has it that Stevie dressed like that ALL the time, not just for shows. If he went to the grocery store on a Sunday morning he’d sport the same style. He owned it!!!!!
Guitarist like SRV have full time guitar techs, that’s their whole job to tune and maintain his guitars.
Studio version you have to check out, tight rope , incredible song
Stevie Ray was the Truth
His band is awesome also
This was the first song I ever heard from SRV. I was in downtown Atl. and I stopped at a liquor store to get some beer and when I got back in my truck and the radio came on, this is what I heard. I've been hooked ever since.
Do the studio version of "Rivera Paradise" pleaseeeee 😊
SO MUCH THIS!!!!!!
@@TheRagratus right? Probably the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard.......... that's just my opinion though ✌️
The studio version of, cold shot,
His guitar was plugged into a Leslie organ speaker, that's what I heard and that's why he gets that sound out of his guitar
As Clapton once said, "
Stevie doesn't make a mistake"
This man saved the blues He was one of a kind and I miss this man so much I was turned on to the blues when I was 14 years old in 1984 at a party Someone put a Muddy Waters album on and the rest is history Because I like all kinds of music but the blues is by far my favorite If you want to know more about SRV Watch VH1 The legends Its so good They tell the whole story of SRV’s life When Eric Clapton and BB King talk about SRV They said it will be a long time before you see someone with the talent he had Eric said most people have to think about the next note or cord to play But not Stevie He said that music just flows through him like an open channel and BB King said that that you will probably never see someone with this much talent again Coming from those two musicians That should tell everyone what they need to know about SRV RIP TO A LEGEND
Check out the bluesy rocker "Couldn't Stand the Weather" for some great studio fire from SRV.
Y'all need to react to Stevie Ray Vaughan sound check❤ from Texas
He was primarily a Fender Stratocaster player. He always played them in live performances, and rarely used other models. His most famous Stratocaster was nicknamed “Number One”. He named his guitars, One, Red, Lenny, Yellow, Charley, Main , and Scotch.
SRV live performance on any given performance. In live venues it felt even better. But we took it for granted seeing him so often. His warm up mic checks were the best. He'd slip in and out of Zeppelin, Sabbath, Deep Purple etc whatever he heard on the ride over or background. Just fiddling around. Jeff Beck riffs like in his sleep.
Check out their first album for sure. Every song on it is a banger and you guys would love it.
You should check out: couldn't stand the weather live at the capitol theatre. One of my absolute favourites. It has such a cool groove!!
Stevie Ray Vaughan owned 34 guitar's, Guitar Center bought Stevie Ray's guitar that he named #1 for $625,000 and they take it to their stores around the USA for display, it has the 13gage strings, they let people try to play it. Jimmie inherited Stevie Ray's estate, alot of his thing are at a music museum in Texas. Jimmie plays on alot of Stevie Ray's albums, whenever you hear 2 guitar's playing it's Jimmie Vaughan. Stevie Ray also plays the drums and Saxophone, Stevie Ray is playing drums on The Sky Is Crying album on the song The Sky Is Crying. Stevie Ray and Jimmie were working on an album called Family Style but Stevie Ray passed away before the could finish it, I still say Tic-Tock is sooo worth a listen, Stevie Ray has a powerful message and Jimmie has old home movies of Jimmie and Stevie when they were very little.
Great reaction!!! I love your channel. I love Ain’t Gone And Give Up On Love live from the Capitol Theater. And yes yes yes if you want a studio check out Rivera Paradise. It is beautiful ❤️
Oh yeah
SRV..'COLD SHOT'.....IS A COLD SHOT.
WOW LIVE PERFORMANCE.
One of the rare artists where studio and live performances are T.O.P.!
This dude was scarring the crap out of most guitarists at the time 😢
In Step & Couldn't Stand the Weather are his go to Studio albums. What is often overlooked is that it was Stevie and his Band (Double Trouble). Those three guys were his brothers. They backed Stevie all the way, wherever he went musically, and NEVER missed a beat or a cue. Fabulous musicians.
Yep.
I always imagine Stevie with the Allman Brothers Band, that would be sick!!
Rip SRV….gone too soon. Thank the rock gods he left us some 💎 gems.❤️
My favorite Stevie song is Pride and Joy.
Reese's fingers are made of gold
Fun fact about Stevie Ray Vaughan most people don't know that he does the guitar on David Bowie's Let's Dance
Love, love, love SRV!
I know I'm over 8 months late to this reaction, but, BY FAR, the best version of this song on CZcams is with Johnny Copeland right after they finished Tin Pan Alley.....Absolutely amazing!!! Those two had that stage shaking!!! MUST SEE!!!
That piano though! Thank y'all for reacting to this. "Pride and Joy" is another banger, if you haven't reacted to it. Anything by SRV is worth a listen. RIP Stevie.
I was privileged to see SRV live numerous times in the 80’s in Austin & Corpus Christi. (The drummer, Chris Layton is a native of CC). There is an actual statue of SRV in Austin. He was the GOAT as far as I’m concerned. RIP Stevie Ray. 💔🙏🏻
Gosh you guys gotta check out Pride and Joy! My old man has played it for for me since 83..... Most of his guitars have war wounds, probably born with one😊 Gotta let that guitar sing like no other......
Bring back juke joints!!!! Real piano and moonshine...❤
SRV is a Must Live!
I would recommend his CD - Couldn’t Stand The Weather …. And review the song.
Stevie brings 3 guitars to every show.
his guitar strings are the stromgest made-imagine his grip strength
Breaks a string and doesn't miss a beat. That's what The G.O.A.T. does!!
Studio? “The Sky Is Crying”, “Life By The Drop”, and with his brother Jimmie as The Vaughan Brothers “Telephone Song” he does his Hendrix tricks, “Tick Tock” is a modern soul classic written and introduced by Jimmie and sung by Stevie, and my favorite is “Long Way from Home”. Jimmie plays his world-class Fabulous Thunderbirds-style rhythm guitar and Stevie plays lead and sings. It’s fast but so hot that it actually speeds up while they’re playing.
stevie was a true bluesman
I swear, I can hear the audience cheer when the guitar gets switched.
Stevie Ray Vaugh - Dirty Pool (Live at Carnegie Hall, New York, NY - October 1984), and for a studio song Stevie Ray Vaughn - Come On, Pt. III (1984 Version)
Check out Stevie's brother in the Fabulous Thunderbirds ~ "TUFF ENOUGH".....!
BUMP
THIS is what brings in the fans. There is no better blues guitarist in my opinion.
Stevie was notorious for keep superglue on hand, because he would ply his callouses off, and he’d glue them back. He was a generational talent.
Get it Reese! Srv does so much ,first it's hard to not want to watch his live performance and second it's so good you just want to close your eyes and feel it . I think that just another reason I have to replay him over and over .
Massive shout out to René Martinez his guitar tech. I saw an interview with Tab Benoit where he reached out to René asking him what kind of string lubricant he used on SRV's guitars (because Tab was breaking a ton of strings too). René told him he made up a lube using a lubricant mixed with graphite and it helped reduce (somewhat) the amount of strings that he broke. Tab then proceeded to make his own lubricant by mixing half and half 'Slick 50' and gear oil. Tab Benoit would be another great artist to check out, his live version of 'These Arms of Mine' is incredible.
Watching your reactions gave goose bumps. Your musical reactions and your appreciation good music is priceless! As always keep up the great work fellas. Much appreciated. 🙏
My friends,,,you must react to Jeff Healy singing "See the Light "..a bling guitarist that shreds it...seriously
I had the pleasure to see him twice once in Orlando and I had 4th row Center seats the other time in Tampa with Jeff Beck opening up and then they both came out and jammed at the end I'm still in shock!!
Song was originally written and recorded by Hank Ballard (and the Midnighters) in the 60s.
Not Reese's. He was was just given the nod to Reese to solo. He often recognizes all the players in Double Trouble.
Stevie Ray never failed to amaze me. He took a Larry Davis tune, "Texas Flood", and covered it so well that it defied description. Then, he took "Look at Little Sister", first recorded by Henry "Hank" Ballard and the Midnighters, and made it into this masterpiece. If you would care to hear Hank's original recording, here 'tis: czcams.com/video/7d7Yn2pe1HE/video.html. I'm 82 years old and Stevie Ray's talent still blows what little mind I have left.
Watch for the string... and then the switch
If you have listened to these yet - you would really like the songs Couldn't Stand the Weather and The Sky is Crying. Its all good with Stevie...
Yall need to watch Stevie and Buddy Guy playing Champagne and Reefer
The GOAT...........Plain AND Simple. Switches guitars WITHOUT missing a beat !!
You should do SVR and Jeff Healy. Won't disappoint.
If you look at his soundchecks, he's usually playing 2. He breaks a string, then replaces it with #2. Then breaks #2's strings, and #1 is redone.
Hats off to his guitar tech for being there.
"the sky is crying " would be a great studio listen
Live at Austin City Limits - you should check out the entire performance.
SRV played huge strings. He was used to popping 'em. He was only 5 foot 5 inches tall.
But...he had HUGE hands.
🎸💯 Hell yeah‼That Texas boogie y'all‼🔥
🤯 SRV called his guitar "The One "‼🐐
RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan ❤ 🕊 🙏
I came across y'all's channel, saw who & what you were reacting to & had to subscribe‼☮ ❤ 🎶
SRV ... I click
Thank you for reacting to SRV songs deeper in the catalog than just Texas Flood and Voodoo Chili (Slight Return). He's absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough to see him live in 1989 in Columbus OH when eh split the ticket with Jeff Beck!
A couple other blues requests for reactions- Jeff Healey-I Think I Love You Too Much he actually plays guitar and has a silky smooth blues voice. On this song he splits guitar work with Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. If you want a straight up BANGER-check out See The Light!
Lesser known but considered one of the world's best blues guitarists is Eric Gales. He put out his first album in 1991 when he was only 17! I would recommend Resurrection, or High Anxiety(instrumental) or Sign of the Storm. The entire album rocks! He's had many great releases since then!
Please oh please check out The Telephone Song. Quite funky.
Very respectful reaction gents
He has those big paws and stretches those strings …
I was lucky to see him three in Chicago…you got a follower …nice conversation after as well
