She’s one of my favorite singers and mostly because my 15 month old that passed away in 2007 Hips don’t lie was the song that made her dance. So every time “hips don’t lie” comes up on the radio for me it’s a sign that my daughter is saying hi mommy and that she’s always with me ❤😢

Im a metal fan but I loved her song “Whenever, Wherever”. I thought she was so beautiful and I loved her voice too. It’s kinda sad to me that she hates it so badly. I’ll be a fan though.
Just like with speaking voice many singers are very self conscious. I'll produce for other people but I had to stop producing my own music because I'd freak out adding overdub on top overdub adding autotune,adding melodyne,adding reverb,adding delay,passing my vocals through a vocader,doubleler,ultra pitch,h delay,mid range scoop etc etc
Making pop punk but the end result is on overproduction nightmare of a emo robot choir.
She didn't say she hates it, she said she probably overdid it cause isn't it what people used as a weapon to troll or mock her? Funny how people get surprised when others get conscious over things people mocked/trolled them for.

Her voice and technical choices about it is what gave her her trademark. I guess we tend to be very critical of ourselves in every way but her voice is just perfect in laundry service. I miss her old singing

"Whenever Wherever" is absolutely iconic and one of my favourite songs of all time. It was also my first intro to her music and left the deepest impression on me. It inspired me to learn Spanish, bleach my hair, play guitar, and take belly dance classes. Shaki, you have NOTHING to be ashamed of! You legend.

I think without Whenever Wherever Shakira would not have made a huge success even in Latin America. Her manager at that time advised her to release the song before Objection tango. Let me add sth, She toured the whole world just to perform Whenever Wherever and yet she admits that the song itches her lips. I am starting regretting being a fan for more than 23 years. 😠😡😠😡
