My 17 year old daughter watched it and hated it. She said “they make men looked stupid in Barbie world and chauvinistic losers in the real world”. I was so proud that she was able to pick up on the underlying tones all on her own!

100% with Shakira. Well said. I was actually a huge fan of Barbie prior to the release of the movie and I was disgusted by how man-hating and even pregnant woman hating (!) that movie was. This idea that the only way to empower women is to step on men needs to go away. Beyond being hurtful to men, it's also hurtful to women and extremely narcissistic.

I'm glad Megyn Kelly was able to understand the fact she is Latino! Our culture is still very much pro family, pro marriage, pro men. We love our sons and want them to thrive and we love men that are masculine and we want our sons to be treated well by their wives.

Thank you for saying it!! I am Mexican and left my country years ago because I did not agree with the role assigned to me as a woman. Putting up with men's insecurities.. it doesn't have to be cheating, there is being treated as inferior, condescending, shamed for not fitting "your role" .. I could not have raised by son in México and him following that pattern. Shakira still promotes that pattern and I think she is a bit confused at times. There is no place on earth for supporting masculine lack of emotional responsibility. And a healthy masculine ego, would laugh at the Barbie movie, not be offended by it.

No. Indigenous Americans and mestizo Americans etc. of south Central American and Méxican origins are Not Latino as they are Not people of Mediterranean Latin origin. Hence the term LATIN_O. Real Latino/Latin people at the prominent Mediterranean descendants of Latin Europe, specifically the Mediterranean Italian descendants. Hence how the place Latina Italy got the historical Latin name Latina. Hence how Latin Europe became Latin Europe. It makes absolutely zero sense for people who have Nothing to do with being of Actual Latin origin to call themselves the misappropriated/ linguistically mutilated Latin European term Latino. The people of these colonized places they are Not Latin people as they are Not the prominent descendants from the indigenous Latin tribes/ ethnicity of Italy and Roman derived Latin Europe. You can Not be part of an origin, history and ethnicity which your ancestors factually are Not historically responsible for. Without Italy there would Not be the term Latino. So to claim “Latino” when you have No true prominent cultural inheritance from the Mediterranean Latin ancestors of Italy is an abhorrent form of cultural negation, cultural erasure and cultural theft. And true ethnically Latin Mediterranean people we share much of our DNA with the Middle East, North Africa and other Mediterranean descendants such as Albania and Greece. This is Nothing new in history. Us culturally rooted True Latin descendants specifically us Mediterranean Italian descendants only use the term Latino/ Latin in reference to those of Latin European origins specifically of Mediterranean descent with typical brown Mediterranean features with typical olive Mediterranean skin types. To claim you are “Latino” because of the similarities you have simply because of the forced influences due to colonialism is true ignorance and even more willingly stupid. And the people you mentioned with so called “Latin European” ancestry of south Central American and Méxican origins are MESTIZO AMERICANS and it ends there. Mestizo They are a completely different group of people and their own ethnic group and it is Not the same as Latino. the same way there are Filipinos who are MESTIZO ASIANS NOT LATINO. The same way there are similarities due to colonialism in the Spanish East Indies, the same influences that are in the United States of Latin Africa due to colonialism. And yes I will agree that there are many people whose origins come from southern Europe that immigrated to all of the Americas, and the southern Europeans of prominent Mediterranean descent they are Latin. And we have typical Mediterranean features and look like Mediterranean people. Again if you can Not confidently call yourself Mediterranean then you have No cultural right to call yourself the Mediterranean term Latino/Latin. And you are right, as people who’s ancestors are solely historically responsible for the Latin culture we decide how the Latin terms which we are solely historically responsible for are used, and we use to only for actual Latin Mediterranean people, Not for indigenous Americans who were colonized by Latin European countries. The same way the Anglo Saxon English people in England are Not going to ever call all the people of the USA despite of their origins the false term Anglo Saxons simply because they were conquered and forcefully influenced by them. And also there is absolutely zero validity in how the USA or any other country that has adopted the Anglo languages misuse of the Italian/ Latin European term Latino/Latin as it is a misappropriation, mutilation and cultural R@p3 of Latin Terms in the Anglo language! As the mother of three son, and a husband of more than fifty years.... I take great exception to all the criticism thrown on men for no reason than that they are males, not females. I agree with Shakira, and about time someone is beginning to speak out, and speak up. I have one daughter, as well, who is beyond amazing and successful, and best ever friends with, and respectful of her brothers.😇
It’s funny that people are surprised Shakira has traditional values, she’s subtle about it but the clues have always been there.. she’s never been overly vocal supporting BLM or LGBTQ.. (she’s not against it either but clearly not far left), she’s always referencing the juxtaposition between men and woman (all her partners/boyfriends/crushes are always very masculine men and she’s also insinuated that a man’s sex drive is very different to a woman’s which is why she likes keeping them on their toes, and doesn’t want to be seen as the wife), she’s very feminine herself and embraces her femininity instead of resenting it and trying to be masculine like most of the radical feminists nowadays, and her parents are Latina-Middle-eastern (her Mum’s Colombian and her Dad’s Lebanese and raised her catholic) so it’s fairly obvious that Shakira shares some traditional values. Right on, Shakira! I am so glad that you made a very clever observation about the Barbie movie, which we can all agree that it lacks so much on logic arguments. All the discourses and narratives that have been going around for the last two decades are atrocious and have severe consequences. This Barbie movie, like many others, empowers nothing but emptiness and a lack of respect for life and human dignity. In addition, this movie has only made it to the "top" and become so controversial because it voices out one of the most significant problems that the Anglo-Saxon society holds at its core: their capacity to detach themselves from reality and live a life of mere science fiction, which by far the excels at it. Last but not least, this movie and the Oscar night have proven that Hollywood is nothing but the most dangerous political weapon that the United States of America has. Any good mom tends to calm down on the feminism when she has sons. That says something about modern feminism. Once they generate some empathy for men they are able to say "wait, this is going too far."
The problem with young women today is that they are awkward and have a control complex. I told my daughter when she was in college that you never want to marry a man who is weaker in will than you. The reason for this is that if you can run all over them you will get tired of it. I advised her to find one that is equal to her in their way of thinking. You need to blend together well and you will have a great life together. I feel that lot of girls and boys today are being raised by people who did not choose their partner very well. They are unhappy and they pass on negative thinking to their children. The result of this is what we see today.

Since the separation with his partner, he has been the target of criticism from many groups. They believed that because she dedicated several songs to him, she was a feminist and no, that was her way of channeling all her pain and anger over the way the breakup occurred, but some media outlets have dedicated themselves to discrediting her career. and make her look like a toxic person who can't get over her ex-partner. She has always sung about her heartbreaks and loves, but fake news about her is every day. I admire her for her resilience and how she raised her children.
She is NOW, rasing her children to hate the men in their families. She made MILLIONS out of her love stories in the past. Now her children are watchimg what she does, and this is the price of money and fame. Her songs will never be forgotten.

So his own children felt their father's abandonment, and then bringing his lover home, arguing that she was an employee, ended up hurting his children. When Shakira prohibits him from entering her house, he decides to invite his new girlfriend to his parents' pool, where his children could hear and see them through the window. The damage was caused by the father due to his immaturity, narcissism and by wanting to harm his ex-wife, he did it to his children. If you add to that, that in the midst of his father's convalescence, Piqué's family made him leave the house, without caring about the emotional stability of his grandchildren and the health of Shakira's father. Shakira left them all their common property in exchange for custody of their children. So be better informed next time, because everything is documented and argued.
Singing about your ex in songs and using your creativity for your healing is very different to how Shakira is likely going to talk about their father to her boys. One is art and the other is empathy, which she has.

I couldn’t believe Barbie, was even nominated. That was the stupidest movie I’ve ever watched, and the message was just horrible.

Barbie was the worst movie I’ve ever seen. There was some type of sexual reference in the movie where Barbie told Ken that he had no genitals and Ken looked shocked and said yes I do.
What’s that got to do with being a bad movie? Barbie and Ken dolls both do not have any genitalia down there. But it’s always been a comedic trope to point out Ken’s lack of anything down there. That fact doesn’t make the movie bad though

Yes, that is a ridiculous comment. She was dressed perfectly, not showing anything. I guess it is the fact that people in their little world do not know anything about other cultures. I work at an airline around international pilots. They tell the young guys "if at all possible find a Latino, or Asian woman if you marry. Not an American" for several reasons. In general it sounds like they better compliment, and don't try to compete.

Roads will still have to be built, dams and hydro plants constructed, machines built to mine minerals,. There will a hierarchy and women won't get to choose their ''rightful'' place in it, their individual worth will choose that for them in exactly the same way as it does today. The only difference will be no men to blame for these irresponsibly perceived inequities and no man to call when the toilet wont flush, or the car wont run .

I actually agree with you Magyn Kelly and I like what Shakira said, she made a very good point , I'm NOT a fan of Barbie, and 'm a liberal, and I think Barbie demeans men and I believe it's anti-men, although I do support the enpowerment of women to the certain extent, but no one should belittled men, especially if he's a good man whohas nothing to do with making women second class citizens, there must be a certain balance between men and women, we all have a part to play and should work as a team, not turn against each with mosgyny and feminism , I don't support mosgyny nor feminism, but I do support women's rights to be treated equally and should have the same amount of respect as men, we should respect one another and acknowledged one another's purpose and existence, and belittled one another, because all men and women have a part to play in each others lives i believe.

Watch the movie and left thinking exactly the same she said, I remember my first comment about was, " well Ken was another accessory for the doll", not related to real life the way we wanted.

I felt like Barbie was calling out being ‘anti-boy’. Ken was the most sympathetic character, you couldn’t help rooting for him. In real life, in the toy box, Ken is an accessory and Barbie is the main character. There was more to it than men bad, women good.

I am Mexican-American, and the biggest mistake I made in my life was marrying a woman that isn't Latin. I was blamed for "trapping" my wife in a cow town, where she was not living an excellent metropolitan life in a big city where she saw her friends on social media living. I bought my wife and baby a newly built house with solar panels,, in a California Central Valley city of 150,000 people, and I offered to pay for my ex-wife to return to school. I was still portrayed as a macho misogynist. I should have listened to my parents and married a Mexican woman.

The Barbie movie won 1 Oscar, and 191 international awards. Also the Barbie movie was mainly about dolls, so not many human women, men, or boys in the movie. As far as how the Kens were treated in the movie, in the real Barbie world of Mattel, Kens were always an afterthought. Most girls ( my three sisters included ) did not want any Ken dolls, they wanted only Barbies. So Ken was always a tough sell for Mattel, which is why there are so few Ken dolls in Mattel"s Barbie doll line-up.
I turned Barbie off after 15 minutes because it was so angry. I was on an airplane. I just had to turn it off
