  • Hey Everyone,
    In todays episode we are finally fixing the plethora of leaks coming from our intake manifold. Since it is coming off, it is the perfect time to upgrade to something that flows a bit more air. A large turbo is in this car's future, so I think this will be the perfect upgrade. While the manifold is off, the car decides to surprise us with a completely destroyed PCV system. I can't believe the car ran so well with this many issues.

    Awesome upgrade! I was keeping up with you upgrading my TT but it looks like you're ascending to another level. Keep up the good work, I love using these videos as an excellent resource tool for when I'm working on mine.

    Wise idea to do manifold at same time as PCV! I remember a nightmare of hours removing the old PCV breather pipe and even more trying to seat the new 034 part enough to get the clip on properly, ALL via dipstick area underneath manifold 🤦 after watching this I wish I'd just removed everything lol. Great video; keep em coming

    Hey my man. May I make a suggestion?? Do what I did and yank out allllll that emissions crap you don’t need. Get rid of the entire PCV, N249, SAI and EVAP system. Rip it all out. The combi valve, all of it. This eliminates so much stuff / hoses that can crack and leave you screwed. 034 makes a block off plate in place of the combi valve, run resistors where you unplugged stuff, install a catch can and tune the rest out. My 02 225 loves love loves it without the 20 year old extra crap under the hood and yours will too! You’ll thank me later! Enjoy!

      Exactly, when I was 1.8t I ripped ALL of the vacuum/evap lines out, you literally only need 3 vacuum lines for the 1.8t to run and especially aince he is planning on going big turbo that is all you need. I been through it and thats that.

    That was a big job! Two things for you: #1 - Learn some new swear words for when you run into the oddities you experience from time to time on these old engines. #2 - Clean the damn thumb prints off that beautiful new intake for Lord's sake! Actually, it is an impressive job you are doing with both of these cars. Keep it up as you are inspiring a lot of folks.

    It looks so funny with the stock throttle body 😅. Without the larger (hemi) throttle body, I doubt there is much, if any, benefit to this with anything less than a GT30. The stock intake manifold is already really efficient. The problem with it is that the throttle body mounts on the side in transverse motors. If it were possible, the longitudinal intake manifold would yield better results overall. You need to ditch the PCV suction jet system all together and grab yourself a catch can that vents to atmosphere. You won't nessisarily notice a difference in performance, but it is a must-have. I have IE mk4 gti/jetta can. It's overpriced, but I'm very happy with the product.

    Damn nice I was looking for a manifold for my 180, I want to get a fmic but hate how the 180 piping is ran. I did a silacone pcv upgrade and my pcv hose was completely in half missing about 2 inches of hose haha

    • @HunterDirection
      @HunterDirection  Před rokem +1

      Dang that sounds like a really messy pcv job haha. It sounds like every one fails catastrophically. Also a manifold like this could definitely help you re-route the IC piping. You could mimic a 225 routing pretty easily I bet. Thank you for the support!

      @jungillestt02 Před rokem

      @@HunterDirection yeah that's what u was planning on doing, but this one here would alow me to put it on 180 style and then switch when I get the fmic. But yeah waiting for you to wrap the TT, I'm in the process of sanding, priming and making the some new bumpers off a 3.2 I found in a yard close to me surprisingly. I got the spoiler but not sure if ima put it on yet haha, it's cool but I do like carbon fiber 😅

    A shop vac would of helped so much with safely retracting all the debris from the injectors the manifold and the oil filter housing. Nothing can go down to the oil since the gasket has vents so it acts like a cage, but you would be introducing all the debris to your turbo and intake. Cheers

  • @PatrickAndrewsMacphee

  • @briane__
    @briane__ Před rokem

    Bro yea the pcv system is vital for all 1.8t engines. I think vw Audi group should have made it clear somehow that this piece is so importantl to change before 100k miles. Ideally 80k miles. I just did mine the other day, and was in the same condition as yours.. Also as a tip, if you need a hose going from the pcv into the manifold, I'm pretty sure it is a 10mm vacuum line. You might want to check your evap purge valve too, they can go bad over time.

    Hey hunter I have a question about the turbo inlet pipe on the s4 b5. Mine passenger side pipe for the turbo is coming lose, I can tell because of how much tighter the driver side one is, do you know if that could be what’s causing my car to be in limp mode, I’ve done spark plugs twice and done the oil change ever since I bought the car, but it seems like it was running better when I drove it for the first time after it was sitting for a year. My car wasn’t in limp mode when I got it, so what’s causing it for it to be in limp now? I have no throttle body boot leaks or lobster claw leaks. Things I haven’t checked off are pcv system, or maf, my car is very hesitant on full throttle in higher gears between 3k-5k rpm. I’m not sure why, if I’ve fixed a lot of issues I found, one of my coil springs being missing. Which I fixed when I done the plugs, so at this point I’m just losing my mind trying to figure out this problem. I would appreciate it so much if you gave me your opinion on what the problem could be! Thank you so much bro.
