Dylan was conceived under unfortunate circumstances and he managed to be the most sane in his family. No matter how hard he tried, he could not save his little brother. Love this show.
I don't regret having the name Dylan especially when this argument comes up

Dylan saying he wanted Norma to be alive again and wanted Norman and Norma to meet Katie and have Christmases together was the saddest part.
Yeah I agree. It really hit home. Compare that with his character’s attitude in season one. He wasn’t really the hard ass he was pretending to be. He was just as emotionally injured as the other family members and putting on his best front.
And he called Norma “mom”
Dylan was always a sympathetic character, from the very beginning of the show Dylan tried to help norman and he could see norman's bond with norma was unhealthy but unfortunately norman was too far gone by the end of the show so Dylan couldn't save his little brother!

Can we get a round of applause to Max Theriot for killing his role as Dylan. He went in on that one and tore me up.
That’s not all he killed
Both Dylan and Alex were my favorite characters.
Vera and Freddie too!
The saddest scene in the whole series. Especially Dylan grieving over having to shoot his brother and then having to watch him die. It broke my heart when Norman tells Dylan "Thank you." Their was no other way he could help Norman. At least Norman got to be with his mother in the end and at least Dylan gets to live a normal life. Occasionally I go back and watch the scene again and again.

"I just want to be with her, Dylan."
"Don't ask me to do this..."
That exchange. They knew what was about to happen. It's what Norman wanted.
This is the best argument for “Norman wanted to die”. He really wanted to be w her safely and he knew that his version of her was dangerous. He wanted his real mom
Good observation, Captain Obvious.
@Ar D especially since he'd tried commiting before. If it wasn't for his messed up mind, he would be dead. Somewhere in him did want to die, but deep inside his mind he didn't want to, he wanted to create a fake world, think of him like Wanda from Marvel except without powers. He wanted to die, but his will wouldn't let him, so at this scene it was his realisation that this was the solution and it was what he had been searching for so desperately
Sim, Norman queria morrer pq não direcionou a faca para Dylan e sim, para a parede para que no reflexo Dylan atirasse nele e assim o fez.

It's just that Vera and Freddie stole the show. Max got a lot better in time, though.
At 5:40 you can see the pain on Norman’s face. I don’t believe it’s from physical strain, but rather emotional strain. He knows what he’s about to do, and he doesn’t like it. But he knows he has to do it. I can’t tell if it’s pain for himself as he prepares himself to give up his life, or if it’s pain for Dylan, since he’s putting a terrible burden on Dylan for asking him to do this deed.
As another commented pointed out, Norman’s intent wasn’t to kill Dylan. It was to trick Dylan into killing him. You can tell because Norman raised the knife and slashed down in a certain way. The knife also landed in the wall. If Norman was going to kill Dylan, he would’ve slashed at his throat or gone for the gut. He wouldn’t have swung down at his face. I don’t think Dylan was oblivious to this either since he didn’t really flinch.
Freddie Highmore fucking nailed this scene, as did Max Thieriot. You can feel the emotions through the screen, and that’s what makes them great actors. Tremendous respect for both of them.
You r damn right...I cried every time i saw the scene
@@user-zc5lx7xy6d This hit differently
I cried at this scene here ehere Dylan hold Norman in his arms and sobs
I agree with everything accept how he swung the knife. I think that was a direct call back to the film on how he killed the woman in the shower. It’s the classic murder scene. I do agree with everything else it’s just the way he did that I think was homage to how Anthony Perkins wielded the same weapon
Excellent observation ♥️♥️♥️
I would like add one thing: you mentioned that you were not sure if Norman was in pain because he was getting ready to end his life, or for putting the burden on Dylan for killing him. Norman definately was lamenting his decision to trick Dylan into killing him, and because of it, putting such a burden and pain on Dylan. Norman was feeling painfully sad because of that, but he just knew that there was no other option for him to continue living and/or continue struggling in this world without his mother as they had such a strong bond between them. He was suffering beyond any repair; therefore, he knew that this was the moment to escape the reality and end his pain. Definately one of the saddest scenes regarding tv shoes.

Anybody else start sobbing like a child when Norman was dying and he ran to norma and turned back into a child? I mean, the imagery mixed with the soft rendition of "dream a little dream of me" really solidly destroyed me when I first watched this.
I got sort of sad... then I remembered he is a viscous serial killer
Norman wasn't, his Norma personality was and Norman was just an innocent victim of extreme mental health problems.
Second time watching this and im crying like a baby
Just finished the show.. I'm fucking sobbing ridiculously.
@SeeMèGol & Friends Norman didn't need to be "put down". He needed to be in a hospital for the criminally insane.
This was the best ending Norman could have had, at least this way he is not suffering by battling with himself anymore. Mother finally left Norman alone for good at the beginning of the finale and stopped causing him to black out, but Norman's dependence on Norma remained and he couldn't function without semblance of her, and it was painful to watch him "reset" and pretend it was the first day they'd moved to White Pine Bay.
I was happy Dylan "set him free" but when he looked up and said Thank You, it still made me cry. And then Dylan just sitting there, sobbing and distraught over what he had done...😭 I had to remind myself several times Norman was at peace now.
Si,estoy de acuerdo, qué opinas de la dependencia de Norma cuando vivía con Norman?
The shot of Dylan holding Norman in his arms and crying as his little brother faded away beside their dead mother... god. That got me messed up.
So he killed him?
There's so much about this scene that just destroys me. The shock on Dylan's face when he shoots Norman. How immediately cradles him in his arms and apologizes, stroking his hair and comforting him in his last moments. It's so tragic that the first time they had this genuine and tender of a brotherly moment had to be their last. This show was phenomenal, the actors and writers really put their heart and soul into it. Really does the source material justice while being uniquely it's own. Criminally underrated, as many true forms of art are unfortunately. Thank you for this amazing story ❤️ I'll never forget it
It wasn’t though. If Dylan hadn’t rang that doorbell Norman would be done in season 1. Also the scene where Norman is riding on Dylan’s motorcycle with him, the time on the couch when he’s genuinely giving good big brother advice telling him to get out more, it goes on. Dylan isn’t a touchy feely guy in this show, but he shows how much he loves them with his actions consistently, which is the same thing.

You missed the whole point of this scene. He didn’t want to kill Dylan, he did that because he wanted to be with his mother. He even said this is how it has to end. And if you look he stabs the door. He wasn’t aiming for Dylan. He did that because it was the only way he knew Dylan would shoot him. That’s why he says “Thank you” when he’s in his arms.
he wasn't trying to kill him lol
Norman wasn't trying to kill Dylan. He wanted to be with Norma. He was trying to get Dylan into killing him (and running toward him with a knife was the only way Dylan would do it) because that's the only way Norman could be with Norma again. That's why he aimed at the door instead of at Dyl, and why he said 'thank you' at the end

I AGREE!!!
from the first season, i just love Dylan...
BryBry Nandez id say Max was amazing but Freddy and vera were more consistent with throughout.
BryBry Nandez that’s because his character is different than Norman and Norma
This is very touchful. For most of the serie I was wondering why Norma didn't manage to bring Norman to a doctor instead of hiding him and trying to protect him by the worst way. Well... their relationship isn't supposed to be understood. This would be certaily an Oscar serie, if that was possible. It's incredible how Greene and the others took something from the 60s and decided to make something like that nowadays with that kindness and perfection. All respect.
I cried my eyes out on several occasions throughout the five seasons. Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore were incredible and they both carried me along with them until the very end. I don't think I've ever been so absorbed and involved in anything as much. A triumph.
Max is such an under-rated actor. He is giving his A-game all throughout
This is how you make an ending. Beautiful show. Great writing, great directors.
Dylan was one of my favorite characters in this show. I felt so bad for Dylan in this scene; he had such a completely screwed up life! I love how they did the scene of Norman as a young boy. Sad.
This was one of the best series I’ve ever watched. Norman, Dylan and Norma great characters. Really sad when it was over.
Yes :,( Very troubled but none of them actually evil...it's sad...
This show was a wild ride
Plus a great one
Wow I just finished this show today. This show is so underrated and it is just wonderful... the photography, the 60's atmosphere in 2017, the clothes chosen for Norma and Norman (and the detail that they wore the same in the latest episodes) and of course, the great and scary interpretation by Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga. Wow, I just loved it and cried so much with the last episode seeing the little Norman hugging at last his beloved mother. Bravissimo, they did a magnificent work.
60s atmosphere ? with Rhianna, smartphones and Modern cars everywhere except Norma’s. That’s a really good 60s atmosphere there lmao
There were Doris Day songs, lol.@@reaperrushy4126
This was definitely the hardest thing he had to do. The whole season Dylan's emotions could be felt through the screen and this scene was no different. He wanted to help Norman but deep down I think he knew his brother was beyond help and that's why he went to the house prepared. The conversation with his wife before he goes into the house was probably what broke my heart the most. He was prepared to die as long as he got to help his brother in whatever form that help came.
I just finished up the series today. This ending made me burst into tears. What an acting by the lead male role. He was a child from inside who wanted to save his mother. The way he used to adore , hug and call Mother. Omg. Such an innocent child in a grown body. M already missing the show. I have been binge watching it and feeling like a loss . Money heist was my 1st favourite till now but now I think this is my 1st favorite.
Watching Freddie play this character and seeing how he unraveled from seasons 1 to 5. this scene was heartbreaking to watch!
Freddie is so brilliant I'm proud of his acting career
When Norman has a smile on his face and says "thank you"...😭😭😭
This scene is absolutely incredible. Brilliant acting !
Love this series ! ♡
Was I the only one who, until this episode, didn't lose hope that Norman would have a good ending, after all? Ever knowing he didn't deserve it, I wanted him to... You know, go to Pineview or something. But in the end, there wasn't any other option. His death was a happy ending, in a way. But if you think enough, this show has no happy ending.
Romero is dead, Norma and Norman are dead. No one ever found Bradley body. Emma lost his mother. Everything leads to a Depressive end, and even if Dylan and Emma are together, he lost his brother. He lost his mother, and he lost Caleb. He's still married to Emma, but he lost everyone. Everyone he loved or cared, and in the end, all due to his psycho brother.
And it becomes even sadder if you think that Norman didn't want to do any of this...
Bradley didn't die
That simple " *Thank You* " actually made me cry ffs ...
This show was so amazing and the ending was perfect , Norman got to be with the one he loved most in the end 😢😭
One of the best final episodes of a series. Bravo. Sad and unnerving
This reveal was so much better than the actual movies. We really get to see the tragedy of Norman's illness and how Norman was as much a victim of his illness as anyone he killed. Twenty times better than what Hitchcock came up with.
Every time I watch this scene, I burst into tears! Both actors were phenomenal on it!
"Well if you believe hard enough then you can make it that way!".
Man.
Gets me so hard.
I'm tearing up...
Gets you so hard?
Ben Rose lmao i read it that way tooo xDD
Lmao wtf
@@aaronaguilar9172 Lol, mind out of gutter! 🤦🏽♀️😂 Didn't read it like that at first, but then I was like 🤔
Knowing this was all filmed in Universal Studios in Hollywood just blows my mind this show was crazy good had me hooked every episode well made great actors!
How good was this series??? The performances alone should have been awarded with far more respect and attention.
