+70 yrs old here. Have made berry pie for most of my life. Put down one crust ; fill the dish full up with fresh clean berries (don't wash em you loose taste); sprinkle sugar over the top generously depending on tart test; seal in berries with top crust; cook 45+;cool; eat.
Cant wait to try this, sounds beautifully simple and delicious!
@@girlinthemountains If the berries are fresh be prepared for a real juicy pie. We usually serve fresh berry pie in a bowl. , (one crust berry pie we call cobbler)

Your backyard is a very interesting one. Here it is just dry dry dry. We survive on 8" of rain a year, so it is a refreshing relief watching your adventures. Good luck and keep em coming.
Lot of greenery, and fruit berries, beautiful surroundings
The gooseberries I have had my whole life and made pies from, have always been very tart… not sweet. You add the sugar and it is the best pie ever! My grandmother from the Ozarks taught me about many wild berries and herbs when I was young. She had wild gooseberries all over her land. I actually got my first gooseberries just a few weeks ago from a plant I planted a couple years ago. Not enough for a pie yet. Your green gooseberries are ready to make some pie! Yummy!!!

Congrats on the pie Nicole, I was concerned about crust not being cold enough to be flaky, but when you cut the pie I could see it turned out great. Jake I can smell and almost taste your cooking. Much easier way of picking your berries is to tie the baskets or bucket to your waist so you can use both hands to pick. You can pick faster while keeping from damaging the plants. Spent many summers at my grandparents berry far.. love love love that you have so much berries available. I enjoy watching you both forage for food

The pic of the whale made me ask for prayers for our baby Orca, Toa. He was left stranded on rocks. His mother and the pod, all left. The efforts to find his pod have not been successful. He may have to be euthanased as he is too young to fend for mimself. If his mother is found I am sure an attemp to reunite the two will go ahead but after 10 days it may be un successful. He is being cared for in a pool at Wellington, New Zealand.

Jake, you should design a foot pedal for your water pump, I was looking at the pump and I’m a retired welder! Seems like something could be fabricated like a foot pedal to make it so both of your hands are free to hold whatever you’re filling! I’ll keep thinking about it and see what I could come up with my brother! It has to be spring loaded for the return action !
