Cheers, Thomas! 😎 Great review. Always appreciate a review, especially in these scary times. I have been waiting for this one since I first saw it. Really cool CLA Shooting Brake. Since there is no A-Class Estate, I call this an A-Class estate to keep myself sane, lol.
I agree with you on the colour as well. I love it, especially at night in the city. The digital display is very nice. I have seen the base screens, and they are really nice as a base version. They all come with MBUX, so you are not really losing anything not getting the other screens.
The Store you clicked there has Daimler's online service you get when buying the car. We can make payments for anything like parking, hotel rooms, meals, servicing, and many other digital banking possible through there. Really awesome.
My theory on why the fuel economy is not the best is because of the filters that Mercedes-Benz put in there to meet EU regulations. That is my theory, and I felt that with the new GLE (not the hybrid). But I do not mind it.
The brake intervention is something Mercedes-Benz has been doing for years. Even the GLK had it, and I am used to it. Their intervention system is the first I have experienced, so that is why I am okay with it and prefer it that way.
In the future, Mercedes-Benz did say they plan to standardize a lot of equipment in their cars on base trims. It has improved since 2011 when I bought the GLA, but they are getting there slowly. I am okay with how they price things now, but I can kind of see why others do not. Personally, I rather have the more individualization they have now rather than rolling things up into packages, so I am not forced to get things I do not want like some other brands do. Mercedes-Benz do offer packages, but they let me choose what in that package I want and do not want. I love that. I do not want them to lower the base price, but maybe lower the options price for more common stuff like heated and cooled seats, sensors, backup and front camera by a little...maybe. But their more exclusive features like the wood trim, AMG line, colour, or wheels for example I am fine with the price they give.
Cheers, Thomas! 😎 Those are my thoughts. Stay safe. Hopefully we survive this pandemic. ❤

Many thanks Thomas for this video. Excellent job Autogefuh.
l It’s basically an estate version of the A-Class, but it’s not as practical as a C-Class estate, nor as popular as an GLA.
Sounds by the comments made by Thomas that is better to drive than an A-Class sedan. It’s a very good looking state car.
Interior is not plush enough in the trim for a Mercedes Benz. BMW and Audi has superior interiors quality.

I have two questions - the important one first
    1. When will the 250e version arrive and will you be testing that ?
    2. How do you switch to km/l instead of L/100km in the consumption view. I have had the opportunity to try the try the 163hk/250nm, and I did not manage to find this part in the menus?
In general I am very much hooked on the CLA as my next car - preferably the 250e, as I will be driving around 50km every day, and that can be done entirely electric.

They'd be fine with a fog lamp but for some reason Mercedes doesn't seem to like putting fog lamps in their cars. On a sidenote, can somebody explain why modern Mercedes (And some VW models too) have the rear view camera popped out while driving forward like at 3:46? It looks very bad from behind.

    Dear Mr. Thomas,
I am writing as part of a school project focused on career selection and would deeply appreciate hearing your feelings and advice based on your work experience. Some might think you have an easy and "cushy" job, but I do not. I say so because I have to think it can become very difficult over time to talk at length about mundane, trivial, and, arguably meaningless details such as the curvature of the leading edge of a car's hood, how many pleats the seat upholstery has when this detail is obvious to anyone blessed with vision - we should hope most drivers can see at least this well, no? And just "how nice" can a radio volume knob possibly be? Sure, some controls are more pleasant to operate than others, but still, a volume knob is ultimately a simple potentiometer, yet you succeed at making these mundane details at least modestly interesting. This, of course, is a tribute to your innate skills, and perhaps your training. By the way, do you consider what you do more aligned automotive journalism, or is it more akin to commercial acting?
Since I think a career like your own would be interesting and rewarding, I'd appreciate actually knowing what your job title is and learning how one gets started along a path similar to your own. Are the pay an benefits attractive, and the work is steady? How much can one expect to earn in your field and are there schools that teach the skills you rely upon; if so, can you name several in the U.S.? Or is your job more of a self-developed skill set? In your experience, what personal traits does one need to succeed in doing the type work like you do?
Thus, without (further) belaboring the point, I'd like to learn how did you personally get started and how long have you been performing your service? Do you work you on a long-term contract, say a year or longer, or are you compensated on a "fee-for-service" basis? How many reports like the one above for the CLA 250 might you perform during an average year?
Finally, Are you compensated by Benz exclusively or by various automotive manufacturers, and do you do print journalism as well as video media, and, if so, where can I read some articles you have penned?
Thank you, in advance, for your much awaited responses; I'd like to get started as soon as possible.
    Steven

Suuuuuch a beatifull car but.... WTF is going on with that led screen they have just placed on top of the dashbord shelf like they only just made it balance?! why the F not make a beatifull design around it so its incorporated into the dashbord design and maybe even shade for the sun? That and the fake exhausts is a maaaajor issue for me, it would seriously make me think twice about buying the car. There is no reason what so ever to cut these corners, not technical, not design wise and deffinately not brand wise. I could see this be done on a dacia or some such, for heavens sake not on a merc.

To be honest, Mercedes has fallen behind in the design department compared to the other German brands. This looks outdated already.

the engine of the new cla e250 is from renault dacia. the same as the hybrid system, and that is not a positive thing, etc but the opposite and you also buy and pay for a mercedes benz and you get a renault ,, at a premium price , the cla 250 gasoline engine if it is authentic mercedes benz, I do not like that stupid fashion to save costs and quality of suppressing the front fog lamps by false cheap plastic air intakes and holes that are absolutely useless, better some precious Front fog lights and some daytime running led lights on the front skirt that have huge grille holes and ugly plastics etc and the same thing happens with the new Audi models and other premium brands. Very expensive and little standard equipment and also they are almost all the same photocopies With designers without character or personality, they should learn from the style of manufacturers from more than 20 years ago, with a very nice line and different from everything they do now, etc ,,.
