Honestly insane to me that Punisher hasn't been put in MvC yet. I'm a little worried that Disney would be reluctant to put Frank in a new game but with the inclusion of him in Rivals and his game being part of the MvC Collection, gives me some hope.
If I were to put a character in that Literally Who DLC slot, it would be Regina from Dino Crisis. Capcom did that poll recently and Regina made it surprisingly high on it, so she might not actually fit the category, but dang it I want Capcom to make a new Dino Crisis and I want the series to get some recognition.

I think Exoprimal unintentionally but singlehandedly boosted Dino Crisis outcry, because I wont lie, as someone raised on late 90s-early 00s Capcom i never heard of Dino Crisis myself until a couple years ago. miles and kamala are definitely making the next mvc roster, most of these videos are wishlists/realistic picks but actual realistic picks would have both on the base roster
I think a fun idea is to give every marvel character a capcom equivalent. Not necessarily clones, but thematic similarities. It would make reveal trailers fun to speculate before and even during.
Miles is a marketing god-sent now that he's been developed a bit because he essentially means you get to have Spider-Man on the base roster (Peter Parker) AND Spider-Man as DLC or a pre-order bonus (Miles Moralis). It's like how Granblue Fantasy Versus had Gran on the main roster and Djeeta as DLC only with a mainstream name.

It's always crazy to see how vastly different everyone's rosters are. My personal gripes with yours aside (no Vergil) I commend you for not just having 40+ returning faces with 2 freaks/newcomers on either side. As for the Capcom "Who?", I'd say Gene from Godhand. Clover's a very important era for Capcom and I like the idea of Gene having a special victory pose revealing his "Kick-Me" sign if you win the round with a perfect.

As for the topic, I've never played a Marvel VS Capcom game, but the collection announcement was definitely one of the highlights of the previous Nintendo Direct for me, and I'm interested in giving it a shot.
You still don't know how much rage it induces in me whenever I'm reminded that the one Vs game that has a mechanic called "power stone" made after the Power Stone series was created had the audacity to not include a Power Stone character. But yeah all around fun list. Only big omission to me is SonSon III, could technically have fit in the arcade classic category somewhere.
I would say change one of the clone characters be Akuma instead of Ken. Technically not much a clone of Ryu, but he has a similar history like The Punisher. Akuma was THE guy that started the crossover shenanigans in X-MEN: COTA. He is just as important to the Vs. series as a whole since he Technically started it all. The only game he was not in was MvC: Infinite. He was Technically in MvC 1 as an install for Ryu. Overall solid list, first few people that took some Marvel deep cuts from someone that actually reads the comics.
2 things 1) I really appreciate the gender balance, from being 50/50 when Devilotte was there to 1/3 with all DLC, it's cool 2) my biggest want from a new vs game (which would work for your "who" category pick for DLC) is Princess Tiara from Gaia Master. Yes she has her alternate form that she could have in some moves and maybe a finisher, but I want her to remain fighting in her big poofy ballgown, it's one of my favorite archetypes, someone in a dress kicking ass

Not enough Xmen, they have to include Rogue, Gambit, Juggernaut, Cable, Psylocke, Colossus, Marrow, Omega Red, Sabretooth, Sentinel, Silver Samurai, Spiral and Iceman (Nightcrawler was a based pick). Many of these were what made MvC2 so great. I can't believe we are talking that Magneto will be added as a DLC but Howard the ducks girlfriend is base roster (like wtf). Also need more Resident Evil. Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield or Ada Wong need to be in this list. Also why is Frank West base roster he is literally just a photographer. You can choose any otherworldly character but you choose a photographer? Might as well include cooking mama at that point. TBH, this game was originally Xmen vs. Streetfighter but the xmen and streetfighter representation is not there.
While I wish we got at least 1 FF member on this list, you got some pretty cool and out-there choices here. Green Goblin, Silver Surfer, Nightcrawler, Man-Thing, Edward Falcon, Punisher, Lyn, and Leon are all excellent picks for newcomers. A lot of people seem to make lists based on just who's popular (especially in the moment), but this list feels a lot more like you wanted to make something interesting and cool, regardless of how popular certain characters are.
I really like how you tried new things and added plenty of new characters. A lot of people tend to focus too much on the past and what they remember when making their character rosters. I hope that when MVC4 is announced, it includes a lot of new characters! I feel like classic/nostalgic characters should be DLC only.
it makes sense from a business standpoint too. classic characters returning as DLC would make them hella money. it’s way better to just have new characters as base and maybe one or two as dlc while the rest of the dlc are classic returners
I think Devolte would be fine along the Breath of Fire pick because she's more of a joke villain based on Duranbo from Tatsunoko. So personality wise they would be different enough

I don't think I've ever seen more obscure picks on a fanmade roster especially for MvC4. Very well done I would play this game immediately if it happened to be real!
I also happened to put Elsa Bloodstone on my roster. I imagine she'd be a gun kata character similar to Noel from Blazblue or Kaguya from Under Night. She could lock you down with pistol fire from a distance before rushing in with her dual shotguns for big mixups and damage. Her normals could have her wielding her shovel and guitar like in the comics as well. And of course for her level 3 she could do a combo involving her guns leading into a huge blast from her Bloodstone Hand. I'm glad Marvel is finally deciding to push her after so long and I can't wait to see where else she'll pop up.
Great video. I always thought Doc Ock would make a great addition. Like you could have him use hims arms to crawl around the map while using tech weapons. Gobby would be great though. Also, Daredevil. Somehow typing in his radar sense and acrobatic abilities.
I was laughing at the crazy choices and nonsensical exclusions in the main roster but you won me over with the DLC. Beast and Nightcrawler my 2 favorite X-Men, Rocket, Magneto, Zero and Tron Bonne returning, Leon finally being playable. Marvelous
As a huge Breath of Fire fan I can say your pick for a representative is immeasurably disappointing. I can’t help but wish you had done a little more research or asked fans about it. While the supporting cast of each game does indeed “swap around”, the heroes of each game are always Ryu and Nina, just different incarnations of them. Think Link and Zelda from the Legend of Zelda series. As such, either one of them would have been a much better pick. I think most fans of the series would probably agree. Besides that one extremely irritating pick, I think this roster is great.
Yeah. I guess you could argue since its never the same Ryu or Nina you gotta pick which iterations to go with, which might be too much busywork to ask from someone not already into the framchise admittedlt
It’s really not that hard to decide which one to go with. Since the abilities of Ryu and Nina are fairly similar from game to game, you could pick literally any iteration to be the “main” version and then have the other iterations as alternate costumes. I suppose someone who’s not a fan wouldn’t know that. In that case you still have a few easy options: pick the version from the latest outing like Smash Bros usually does with Link, or create a version unique to MvC which has been done with many other characters already.
But yeah lol. I was confused and a bit angry at that choice. 22 years of no games. And our big comeback is goddamn Myria? I don't think his research was that extensive if he somehow didn't notice that Ryu was the main character in every single game. If I was him I would just leave the spot as an [Insert Series Rep Here] slot or something if I didn't know the series. And then to make it worse we lost Deviolette. So two series got robbed.

I think the only character I outright disagree with is Marionette, she feels like such a coward's pick! Especially when fans have wanted real Darkstalkers 3/Vampire Savior characters to show up in more stuff. If you're going to include a random button just put in an actual random and don't try to use it as an excuse to go "Oh! Well there's TECHNICALLY a new Darkstalker on the roster! They just play like a random button!" Hell there's even a very obvious Darkstalkers clone that could have filled this role: Lilith. In Gem Fighter Morrigan had Lilith's Tatsumaki-like move so it's not unheard of for them to use each other's moves and in the original MvC there was even a secret character called "Lilith mode Morrigan" who was Morrigan but rebalanced to play more like Lilith so this'd be a fun nod to that.
I want MvC4 to have the art style that: ALL Marvel characters look hand drawn with shading from the Marvel 80s comics ALL Capcom character that orginally started in a 2d game have really nice pixel art sprites All capcom characters that started in 3d will have 3d models
My number one pick for a marvel rep is strong guy (in his 90s costume) his personality makes a ton of sense for a fighting game and seeing your list a few grapplers could be needed you could have a move where he hits himself losing health but buffing his next attack or using health in general to ex moves he could also call out multiple man for his supers to have some real fun (x-factor investigations alt costumes would be cool too) So many things to discuss about who add but never enough time to type I completely agree with you on nightcrawler best X-man
I want Dan Smith from Killer7 as a literally who. Actually, no, Kun Lan! I think that game is legendary enough and the moveset is cool enough to make it work.
Breath of Fire only swaps around the minor party members. But the main character is always a blue haired dude named Ryu that that turns into dragons and an angel named Nina. And 4 out of 5 times a snake lady name Bleu tags along. It's a Legend of Zelda situation. So while Myria (just like Ganon) is always the same..... Any of the 3 recurring Heroes could represent the overall feanchise themselves too............. Except for their Breath of Fire 5 incarnations. And lets not even touch "6"

The only vamilla thing about intangibility is the lack of imagination when the authors use that power. They are so uncreative it hurts. The only decent depiction I've seen ever was Nancy from Read or Die.
Thank GOD you made the base roster a feasible size, unlike most other MvC4 rosters. A lot of unique choices were in this to say the least, but some hit very close to my opinions as well. Scarlet Witch is overrated, Man-Thing is peak, and SOMEONE ACTUALLY TALKED ABOUT KITTY PRYDE! My only real critique would be Magneto & Doom being DLC but that's about it for now

I enjoy this Roster, tho the lack of Thanos and Virgil kinda sticks out. Man Thing especially is so based
I would say change one of the clone characters be Akuma instead of Ken. Technically not much a clone of Ryu, but he has a similar history like The Punisher. Akuma was THE guy that started the crossover shenanigans in X-MEN: COTA.
He is just as important to the Vs. series as a whole since he Technically started it all. The only game he was not in was MvC: Infinite. He was Technically in MvC 1 as an install for Ryu.
Overall solid list, first few people that took some Marvel deep cuts from someone that actually reads the comics.

1) I really appreciate the gender balance, from being 50/50 when Devilotte was there to 1/3 with all DLC, it's cool
2) my biggest want from a new vs game (which would work for your "who" category pick for DLC) is Princess Tiara from Gaia Master. Yes she has her alternate form that she could have in some moves and maybe a finisher, but I want her to remain fighting in her big poofy ballgown, it's one of my favorite archetypes, someone in a dress kicking ass

Resident Evil but you play as Iron Man
Not enough Xmen, they have to include Rogue, Gambit, Juggernaut, Cable, Psylocke, Colossus, Marrow, Omega Red, Sabretooth, Sentinel, Silver Samurai, Spiral and Iceman (Nightcrawler was a based pick). Many of these were what made MvC2 so great. I can't believe we are talking that Magneto will be added as a DLC but Howard the ducks girlfriend is base roster (like wtf). Also need more Resident Evil. Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield or Ada Wong need to be in this list. Also why is Frank West base roster he is literally just a photographer. You can choose any otherworldly character but you choose a photographer? Might as well include cooking mama at that point. TBH, this game was originally Xmen vs. Streetfighter but the xmen and streetfighter representation is not there.

While I wish we got at least 1 FF member on this list, you got some pretty cool and out-there choices here. Green Goblin, Silver Surfer, Nightcrawler, Man-Thing, Edward Falcon, Punisher, Lyn, and Leon are all excellent picks for newcomers. A lot of people seem to make lists based on just who's popular (especially in the moment), but this list feels a lot more like you wanted to make something interesting and cool, regardless of how popular certain characters are.
I really like how you tried new things and added plenty of new characters. A lot of people tend to focus too much on the past and what they remember when making their character rosters. I hope that when MVC4 is announced, it includes a lot of new characters! I feel like classic/nostalgic characters should be DLC only.
it makes sense from a business standpoint too. classic characters returning as DLC would make them hella money. it’s way better to just have new characters as base and maybe one or two as dlc while the rest of the dlc are classic returners

Spider-gwen wouldn't necessarily be a clone. She does have a symbiote and that could be incorporated into her moveset.
I think Devolte would be fine along the Breath of Fire pick because she's more of a joke villain based on Duranbo from Tatsunoko. So personality wise they would be different enough

I don't think I've ever seen more obscure picks on a fanmade roster especially for MvC4. Very well done I would play this game immediately if it happened to be real!
I also happened to put Elsa Bloodstone on my roster. I imagine she'd be a gun kata character similar to Noel from Blazblue or Kaguya from Under Night. She could lock you down with pistol fire from a distance before rushing in with her dual shotguns for big mixups and damage. Her normals could have her wielding her shovel and guitar like in the comics as well. And of course for her level 3 she could do a combo involving her guns leading into a huge blast from her Bloodstone Hand. I'm glad Marvel is finally deciding to push her after so long and I can't wait to see where else she'll pop up.

Great video. I always thought Doc Ock would make a great addition. Like you could have him use hims arms to crawl around the map while using tech weapons. Gobby would be great though. Also, Daredevil. Somehow typing in his radar sense and acrobatic abilities.
I was laughing at the crazy choices and nonsensical exclusions in the main roster but you won me over with the DLC. Beast and Nightcrawler my 2 favorite X-Men, Rocket, Magneto, Zero and Tron Bonne returning, Leon finally being playable. Marvelous
As a huge Breath of Fire fan I can say your pick for a representative is immeasurably disappointing. I can’t help but wish you had done a little more research or asked fans about it. While the supporting cast of each game does indeed “swap around”, the heroes of each game are always Ryu and Nina, just different incarnations of them. Think Link and Zelda from the Legend of Zelda series. As such, either one of them would have been a much better pick. I think most fans of the series would probably agree. Besides that one extremely irritating pick, I think this roster is great.
Yeah. I guess you could argue since its never the same Ryu or Nina you gotta pick which iterations to go with, which might be too much busywork to ask from someone not already into the framchise admittedlt
It’s really not that hard to decide which one to go with. Since the abilities of Ryu and Nina are fairly similar from game to game, you could pick literally any iteration to be the “main” version and then have the other iterations as alternate costumes. I suppose someone who’s not a fan wouldn’t know that. In that case you still have a few easy options: pick the version from the latest outing like Smash Bros usually does with Link, or create a version unique to MvC which has been done with many other characters already.

At first I thought this roster would be wacky because of how you classified the characters, but it turned out to sound really good! I think the only character I outright disagree with is Marionette, she feels like such a coward's pick! Especially when fans have wanted real Darkstalkers 3/Vampire Savior characters to show up in more stuff.
If you're going to include a random button just put in an actual random and don't try to use it as an excuse to go "Oh! Well there's TECHNICALLY a new Darkstalker on the roster! They just play like a random button!"
Hell there's even a very obvious Darkstalkers clone that could have filled this role: Lilith. In Gem Fighter Morrigan had Lilith's Tatsumaki-like move so it's not unheard of for them to use each other's moves and in the original MvC there was even a secret character called "Lilith mode Morrigan" who was Morrigan but rebalanced to play more like Lilith so this'd be a fun nod to that.
Miles and Leon i feel like are MUST HAVES for new faces

I want MvC4 to have the art style that:
ALL Marvel characters look hand drawn with shading from the Marvel 80s comics
ALL Capcom character that orginally started in a 2d game have really nice pixel art sprites
All capcom characters that started in 3d will have 3d models
Fun fact , silver surfer was a possible character in the base roster of mvc3 but was discharted because of the japan desaster

My number one pick for a marvel rep is strong guy (in his 90s costume) his personality makes a ton of sense for a fighting game and seeing your list a few grapplers could be needed you could have a move where he hits himself losing health but buffing his next attack or using health in general to ex moves he could also call out multiple man for his supers to have some real fun (x-factor investigations alt costumes would be cool too)

Tron Bonne should be a mainstay. She is queen. There is no one like her.
Breath of Fire only swaps around the minor party members. But the main character is always a blue haired dude named Ryu that that turns into dragons and an angel named Nina. And 4 out of 5 times a snake lady name Bleu tags along.
It's a Legend of Zelda situation. So while Myria (just like Ganon) is always the same..... Any of the 3 recurring Heroes could represent the overall feanchise themselves too............. Except for their Breath of Fire 5 incarnations. And lets not even touch "6"

The only vamilla thing about intangibility is the lack of imagination when the authors use that power. They are so uncreative it hurts. The only decent depiction I've seen ever was Nancy from Read or Die.
