- Kevin Monahan was found guilty of second-degree murder, reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence on Tuesday, marking 8 months after he shot and killed 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis when her friend tried to turn their SUV around in his driveway.

The jury reached the right decision finding Kevin Monahan guilty of second degree murder. There is absolutely no excuse for shooting Gillis simply for accidentally driving on one's private property. The 2nd Amendment comes with responsibility of proper handling of firearms.

Exactly. I've had salesmen, politicians, delivery people, etc , come on my porch, sometimes unexpectedly or they were at the wrong address, and people turn around in my driveway. I've told people to leave but didn't shoot them.
I remember having to pull into a drive in 2004 because I'd hit glass on a country highway and blown a tire. I went to the door to explain why I was there and that I was putting on a spare.
A woman who looked about 80 came to the door and not only did not shoot me, she urged me to wait until her husband and son got home so they could change it for me. I was in a hurry so I didn't wait, but I never forgot her kindness.
I also pulled up in front of someone's house in East St. Louis once to ask directions from a woman getting in her van. She was scared at first but saw the kids in my van and came to see what I needed. She even got her husband out of bed to give me directions to the St. Louis children's hospital because he was better at directions than her.
This dude was a total coward.

It's because they were technically trespassing on his property/he didn't seek them out to kill. It's irrelevant anyway though since he's almost 70 and will get at least 10-15 years.

Idk...I am torn on this one. They trespass on his property but the media keep calling that an accident. So they were accidental trespassers looking for a party with a bunch of cars and bikes...that doesn't make trespassing legal. These are very rural areas and there is NO reason for anyone to be on your property uninvited at any time. Look at this guy, he couldn't shoot his way out of a paper bag. Trespassing is a misdemeanor across the nation. Deadly force in self-defense is only allowed when a person can reasonable articulate they were in peril of serious or deadly injury. Clearly a car in one's driveway while one is in one's home is not such peril.
