Absolute proof that he would hurt more people if this hadn't gone exactly like this, even in the courtroom deciding his own life he chose to use that window purely for the purpose of punishing and hurting the judge and all related victims with one last hurrah before he gets locked up.

For the record, this if this dude was sentenced when the Renaissance Era began, he'd still be in jail for another 3-4 hundred years.
I always wondered this. What happens when he dies? Do they just keep the body or ashes? Do they have a warehouse of dead murderers and psychopaths somewhere in a southwestern desert that is cataloged and accounted for and every once in a while the descendants of some of them get the remains to bury or toss? Or do they say F it and dump the body in the Mariana Trench?

I love that prior to sentencing, Brooks said that the court should take into consideration that he had already served a year behind bars and that should be deducted from his sentence. I wish someone would have said after sentencing, "Congratulations Darrell on finishing that first year, only 1361 years left!!"

He got that one year sentence reduced on his bail jumping charge and not on the Erika Patterson battery charge like he wanted so the judge sentence cut deeper in his soul than any words could have

Plus I think the law says she is following procedure. Look at Wisconsin statute 809.86 and 950.

The fact it was a powerfull women with authority who finally held him accountable was the cherry on top. Absolutely. I was able to watch live, and when she read the sentences, I just cried and clapped and got the most incredible chills. She is so amazing- and the passion in her sentencing tone was just phenomenal. Amazing, amazing woman. ♥️

I really liked the fact she read the sentences for each victim. Drilling into the mind of the suspect, letting him know his attempt to turn attention to himself the whole trial was pathetic and useless. Took away whatever power he thought he had during the trial and brought him back to reality. Kudos to the judge and hope the families get some comfort from this.
You get it ...but sadly humans like Brooks don't ever wake up and 'get it' ...they simply never assume responsibility for their actions

What you say is certainly true in a way. However, those who have worked in public service will know this is true: The Judge will probably go home, do her best to put this behind her, and tomorrow she will wake up and say "Ok...on to the next difficult/horrendous case".
Though this case does stand out in terms of how horrific it was, for those who work in the justice system, there is no way to truly be free, there are just ways to steel yourself and get through it.

This woman was an absolute boss throughout this entire trial. She needs to be commended with the highest honors possible. It's a shame how judges only get attention when they are screwing up and not when they are executing their duties with excellence as judge Dorow did here. Absolutely incredible.

I've never seen/heard such comprehensive, methodical sentencing remarks from any judge. I also loved how she meticulously detailed in order to make no mistake, that mental illness is NOT responsible here.

This guy had so many felonies, pending trials and an outstanding warrant that it is genuinely impressive how this trial even occurred. He should have been in jail on the day of the attack. It's good that he is finally locked away for eternity, but this could have been avoided altogether

I have never seen a trial where there were multiple casualties like this and the judge named every single victim when handing down the sentences. This was class, an absolutely superb showing of empathy and compassion for the victims and professionalism towards the court and all parties involved. Well done Your Honor. Well done. Thank you for putting up with this man's antics so a proper sentencing and judgement could be had.

She’s a hero to all of us who obey the law and are well disciplined. Darrell’s parents failed miserably and should be punished too. You parents are not going to get away with it anymore. You are responsible for your irresponsible offspring. No matter what age they are
I remember watching this case day by day. This is a rare court case that you have to watch as it unfolds. Unbelievable is the only way to describe his audacity to keep interrupting the court, his blatant disregard of the crime he committed, and his demeanor in the court.

Love that she also ordered him to pay restitution. That means limited or no commissary, and no money from relatives, to pay for luxuries (such as they are in prison). I'm sure his fellow inmates will be generous in sharing theirs, though. I hear child killers are highly respected in the prison system
The judge in the Parkland shooter did the same thing. Took away any and all commissary and has to pay restitution as well...

Natalie - it was very powerful not to just read off one group of charges but to say the victims names individually because they all matter. I'm so glad this waste of space on our planet got what he deserved. I wish him a long long life - I hope he lives to be 100 so his victims and their families know he's lonely, suffering and isolated - unable to hurt anybody else and living a miserable day to day routine. He's small - so his dance card will always be full inside. As a former correctional officer - likely he will be isolated because he's a high-profile offender. I can only hope he has no access to others - without anybody to spout off his narcissistic bulls^%t to - I pray he slowly goes mad.

The way she announced the sentences individually, and reading every victim's name, was a very poignant moment. Gave me goosebumps. An incredibly sad and incredibly senseless act of cowardice.

I give her praise for naming the individuals! They were living, breathing people, with families & loved ones. There lives were cut short by his actions. I only wish that he had been given a death sentence, which is exactly what he gave the named individuals! He doesn't deserve to breathe!

Exactly Like he was very bad at defending himself but in his defense there wasn’t much to argue. A lawyer wouldn’t have done much better.
To an extent for other certain charges. Life sentences would obviously stay. His lawyers would just knock off maybe a max of 5-8 years if that. But wouldn’t make a difference. They would also suggest special treatment for him but wouldn’t fall through with the severity of the case.
Idk . They would have probably brought up his mental health . He might of had a chance of a shorter sentence. His mother thinks he’s manic …

Judge Dorow will be in HISTORY books for the outstanding job that she did in this unforeseen hardest case she’s ever encountered!! She went above the call of duty to ensure DB never sees the light of day & can never hurt another living soul. My heart broke for her when it was HER time to finally speak. The pain she had to hold in over the course of this trial. We need more Judges like her in our judicial system…May the Lord continually BLESS her!!

That's not how that works. A judge can say whatever when sentencing someone to prison. She can say that he must sleep on the prison floor for 30 days but that doesn't mean it will happen. Once the person is convicted in the courtroom that person is out of the judges hair and the county jail will take over and after that will state will take over. Do you really think that prisoners are making money like that in prison? The family will receive fifty cents each month? Judges sometimes say things like that for the courtroom but it never meant to stick.

Thank you Judge Dorow for doing what other judges failed to do in the past. If they had done their jobs, he wouldn’t have been out on bail. You have showed more patience and compassion then any other judge I have ever seen.

While I absolutely agree with you, you can't blame it on the Judges. They have sentencing guidelines and have to abide by the laws of the state. He wasn't in the federal system (much harsher sentencing). Look up things like "How Does a Judge Decide What Sentence To Impose on a Defendant?" it'll frustrate the heck out of you.
At the very end, she should have held him in contempt for 799070928 violations and sentenced him to another 25 years of criminal contempt.
@@SeattleJen_ But the judges did have the choice of suspending sentences or having him serve them. Most chose suspension of sentence, then when he broke the conditions, then they put him in jail for his sentence.
She had no choice, the sentence was automatically. The guy is scum but the judge was grandstanding here.

I just wish justice swung both ways. There are too many that get away with less time. We need more judges like her. But, please be sure without a reasonable doubt they are guilty, because mistakes cost the tax payers and the innocent. So many people have been found to be innocent and have spent almost their entire lives in prison. But, in this case, he is guilty and he doesn't deserve to walk around and kill anymore innocent people. Justice was served. This guy was totally a killer. I just wish they would have locked him up before he killed these innocent people. He had already committed horrible crimes before he drove into this Christmas parade and he walked. I pray for those we lost and the ones alive with PTSD.
Unfortunately the constitution states that everyone has the right to a fair trial and impartial court. Under the constitution, the judges conduct is not impartial. Because of her conduct, the defendant was offered an appeal due to inappropriate judicial conduct. She's a clown, if she really cared about locking this guy away for life she would've remained composed and wouldn't have thrown anything.

Yeah, I was just about to comment on this. The clapping is inappropriate courtroom behavior no matter how much it's probably deserved. Most judges would tell them to stop clapping or cheering, whatever (even if the defendant is a POS).

As soon as she started with the actual sentencing, he FINALLY looked defeated. It was glorious. I also love how she allowed clapping for the life sentences, then asked for there to be more reactions. She had complete control, and that's what drove DB extra crazy during this trial.

Everybody thought she was bending over for him and she showed in these last two days that she knew what she was doing and she was not playing. And he saw it and realized it on this last day. She read the reports that mental illness did not contribute to the attack. She read all his last convictions. And she addressed him directly. This woman was amazing.

I think that was a good part of why he got max sentence on every count and consecutive. She just hated him that much by the end. Hopefully he doesn't end up thinking he's a badass for having a thousand year sentence though
