- At 9:30am I was awoken from my slumber by a very loud noise outside my window - I pulled open the curtains to see this hovering just feet outside! They had to close Kensington High Street in both directions to let this baby land :)
See Part 2 (takeoff) here: • A Rude Awakening - Lon...
For more info on why the Air Ambulance had to land in the High Street read here:

that is the tightest confined area landing I have EVER seen!!! Excellent piloting and thanks for sharing this video with all of us!
Cheers,
-Clint
That'd be the best alarm clock ever, it wakes you up and is CZcams worthy!
Good catch.
We just had a London Air Ambulance helicopter land outside today - it was pretty impressive. Have never seen a helicopter land or take off before at close range. Those guys are seriously skilled - amazing.
thanks dude... great channel by the way :)
Awesome catch
Fantastic bit of video, well done! What an amazing bit of flying too!
Love THIS! I'd actually love to wake up to the sound of a Eurocopter everyday!
Outrageously superb post. Thanks.
Great Video sir!
very nice footage!!
Great flying
Got alot of time and respect for the pilots of the UKs AAs. Most (tho not all) are ex-military!
Thumbs up! They put 'em into places you'd think they'd get all shakey about but nope... probably easy compared with a Destroyer in the middle of the north Atlantic ;0)
Landing in a confined space like that takes not only a great deal of skill, but exact knowledge of your helicopter down to exact inch diameter of your rotor blades
@1BustedMyth
yeah, probably getting a bit close to Ring Vortex State, right?
That video is awesome! Nice spotter location!
Amazing landing! These guys really know how to fly
Hardest is taking off, with those trees and street lighting.
what a skilled pilot
Thanks! I've updated the info on the right to include a weblink to the news story :)
My gosh, aren't there any minimum clearances they are required to maintain? He looks to be less than 25 feet from the tree and light post behind him. That seems awfully tight. Just the same, he shows impressive skill.
Thumbs up for thinking 0930 is early in the morning!
One word "Skill".
thanks! point and shoot really, but I had such a great vantage point it turned out pretty cool :)
YES LOVELY VIDEO again well done ive seen your part 2 which is good as well! but those who have an interest in G-HEMS ........LIPO 90 has a good take off check it out! its very clear! once again well done 4 getting this on VID CARUTHERSM! i bet u see it flying all over london and think of this VID i posted on u tube! always be alert in london maybe the next vid you get will be entered 4 a canne FILM AWARD!
spot on!
Pilots of the British Air Ambulances are Mustard!
Flipping heck! Fantastic flying but rather them than me!
Oh my gosh!!😂 That is a rude awakening!
hit enter without finishing! Nice to see it back online too!
My hats off to the Pilot, Now that was SMOOTH
Amazing video and pilot! Our medical pilots here in America aren't permitted to attempt something in such close quarters. We usually land them in more open areas, like parking lots or farm fields.
Is this near the Whitleys Shopping Centre ?
thats great work.
May London’s Air Ambulance instagram page have permission to share part of this video with reference to you please?
No problem 🙂
awesome landing!
@pdc023, You do what is required, as long as the aircraft can take it and your not going to get yourself killed. in training you will back a heli between tree's and even under a tree canopy. Tree's and light posts are no problem, the large buildings either side are the greatest threat, you would not want the one on the left much closer, not due to collision but circulation of air, reflecting of the building.
wow...the rotors looks as if it is just moving reallllll slow at the beginning!
@JamesParkersVideos This is not a game, where if you make a mistake you can simply start over.
@JCWestberry ...it's an MD Explorer.
@KooKas2oo8 thanks for explaining that.
the helicopter pilot was "crazy" good. WOW!!!
We don't do to bad either here in the states. Just got to watch that the blades don't hit anything!
top class flying and countless lives saved !... and yet , unlike police choppers , our government refuse to fund this service ! ...
RIP WH Smiths
What kind of Helicopter is that?
oh its one of those bloody slow rotation blade choppers. nice
That pilot earned his paycheck that day! LOL
Talk about a rude awakening! I'd love that just outside of my house though! :P
to what benneman07 said, ya hes right. And even if that wansnt the case think of air density. It would only be doing so little rotation b/c it was close to teh ground where the air is more thick.
DUDE! those blades are really eficient! (i know the affect here, but i dont know the name)
thanks, wow i wish they where allowed to fly like that in norway!
brilliant bit of flying
was the heli donated by virgin owner?
Was anyone else hypnotized by the rotor? XD
Hell of a pilot
one word: WOW! what a sight! (ok that was more)
lol it takes a bloody car longer to park in that road lol,,thats some superb landing.
That sound...
i bet that took some skill of the helicopter guy to land it in the tight road
Careful.....careful.....
Great video, thanks from Russia!
Let's all remember the medevac pilots and their crews, who are far from home doing a difficult job saving foreign nationals more often than troops.
hope it dont lag in to the gtound
That's an entrance....
@dunge0nmaster I just got up at 11:30 today ;)
nice flowers :-)
@44R0Ndin, yep, this landing makes me a bit nervous, a lot of aircraft get caught with these landings, most notably recently the Bin Laden opperation.
i bet he never misses the toilet seat !
poor guy died bless him. there should be more air ambulances and search and rescue hellicopters, they really do good in bad circumstances. if only the goverment could be in the victims shoes and recieve their treatment to understand the need for more. And not spending money on crap noone needs.
there going fast. just dont look like it
Bravo ottimo atterraggio con elicottero NO TA R
Now, only if someone throw a milk jug at the rotors...
MD-902 Explorer
Yea the guy got out, sorry just getting a drink, im really thirsty!
I flopped trying to do that in GTA... Keep hitting the lampposts and chopping the pedestrians and making more casualties.
Your geraniums look very healthy...
Nah, I think it's just a big ass leaf.
.MD Explorer 902. No Tail Rotar (NOTAR) A fabulous machine $100m to you....
@nocarsgo23 i saw one land yesterday lol
sweet I wish I could see a helicopter land outside my window every once in a while. As long as people aren't getting hurt to cause it.
I share ur pain CZcamsd!
That's fu#king insane !
Eat this Bugatti owners, that's tough !
cyclist got hit by a truck, leg crushed
