I think my favorite part about this new series, is being able to see my favorite childhood show in a high-value production as an adult. Being able to see badass bending effects. Having a live-action show use the correct pronunciation. Seeing the characters I grew up seeing on nickelodeon on the "big screen" just brings me back. I can kinda see it on Blake's face. Randomly while watching the show I found myself just smiling getting to see everything play out.
I was wary of the person they chose for Azula at first... Until this episode. She's like Arya Stark, but scarier.
Nice to see another no nonsense comment. I mean i dunno with those ppl who spew hate to live-action Azula, she aint fit the role, she doesnt show 'crazy' blah blah... it's just season 1 and there hasnt been a ny scene or episodes that she's required to be as ruthless and crazy like Sozin. She's not even suppose to be part of season 1 if it were like the cartoon, she was just introduced here to start her character build-up. And yet people wanted a cartoon season 3 crazy azula already😂
The way they mixed in the stories together worked really well imo. And this Katara grew on me. Feels like the actress started getting the feel for her character in the later episodes.

From 1:28 - 1:35, Blake's hair style goes from 'Super Hot Dude' to 'Insanely Hot Dude' then back to 'Super Hot Dude' all in like 5 seconds. It was miraculous to behold.
This change was SO good, wish all of them were like this. It makes the end of ATLA make way more sense. In the original at the end all the nations all hold hands, essentially, and stand side by side. There's no way after generations of genocide and killing the other nations would just forgive the fire nation like that. And the fire nation that's been heavily conditioned through propaganda and etc wouldn't just accept it either. Showing how the regular fire nation citizens were feeling oppressed and even trying to rebel at times makes it a lot more palatable. Most of the Zuko/Iroh/Fire Nation changes were great tbh, wish we got more of that.

They really need to work on costumes and makeup.... But so far the changes they made plot wise, etc make sense to me.
I almost didn't watch this because I was afraid Blake would bust his brain with all the changes. 😂
He actually flies with the thing at the end of episode 1 😅
I was so delighted by the Fire Nation group at the beginning. I knew they were going to fail and was sad that I knew what their fate would be --- but I was pleased to see that there are revolutionaries within the Fire Nation willing to fight back against their own tyrannical rule. In ATLA, the only Fire Nation revolutionists we got were the few in the White Lotus group - Iroh, Jeong Jeong, and Piandao. It was nice to see others willing to take a stand.
I also liked that NATLA (Netflix's Avatar the Last Airbender... spread the new acronym!) made Azula a more complex character right from the start. She's not so much irredeemably evil here. Right from the start, it's portraying a young woman - still a girl really - who is troubled because she wants to meet her even more troubled father's expectations and is begging for his attention and approval. It threw me off at first... but by the end of the season, I loved what they did with Azula's character. As I said, she's just more complex... and more realistic. She still def comes off as having a sadistic side but not to the point of being pure evil like in ATLA.
And combining these smaller arcs into one makes complete sense to me too! I love that they turned these smaller side quests into a larger part of the story. It was super creative! This is what adaptations SHOULD do... pay homage to the source material but do something new and interesting with it. There were some rough patches - and the show is still growing into itself - but they're doing a really good job of adding to this story instead of doing some bland shot for shot that would add nothing of value.
I agree that there are issues with the dialog. Personally, I would go as far as saying that the dialog is written poorly. There are several instances where it sounds unnatural or cringey.
In terms of the actors being young, the voice actors in the original were young as well.
The Actress that plays Kitara is Native and she’s from Canada.

Guys I finally got the show & finished it to be honest I don't want to spoil but like seriously I have a'lot of Red Flags on this show like a'lot pretty sure Blake would agree the special affects & CGI are good but the show for me a'lot of red Flags.
Not to worry. Given the number of complaints, nitpicking and yes, whining, from fanboys, Netflix is probably not going to order a second season so everyone can be happy now.
@@JonInCanada1I highly doubt that. It’s number one is 86 countries. More than Wednesday and Stranger Things. It’s most likely getting a second season.

Ep 6 was good though
the biggest red flag of this entire show is the 8 episode thing. bumping it up to 10 episodes or 12 would turn this show from good to great only because the pacing wouldn't feel that rushed and team avatar would have more time to bond with each other. i sincerely hope they have atleast 10 episodes if they do season 2.
