Our visit Zagreb travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Croatian), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting churches, parks, the old town, quirky neighborhoods, museums and a hockey game. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Zagreb tourism brochure, Zagreb itinerary or Zagreb, Croatia city tour also known as Zagreb, Hrvatska.
10 Things to do in Zagreb, Croatia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Our travels in Croatia brought us to Zagreb known for its lively street markets, vast green spaces, and varied architecture that spans numerous movements, we reached the capital and hit the ground running. In this video we’re going to show you some fun things to do in Zagreb, as well as share our favourite place for sampling the most delicious truffle dishes:
From the main square you have the Flower Market, and if you head up the steps, that leads to Zagreb’s Central Market.
Zagreb Cathedral is one the city’s main landmarks. This is the largest sacral building in the Gothic style southeast of the Alps, and it’s pretty easy to spot the spires wherever you are in the city.
Our walk through the Upper Town eventually lead us to Tkalčićeva. These days you’ll find a lively street lined with restaurants, cafes and bars.
We reached what may be the most memorable museum in the whole world: The Museum of Broken Relationships. The museum is a global crowd-sourced project that deals with heartbreak. Inside you’ll find curious objects with a corresponding story.
St. Mark’s Church bears the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left-hand side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right.
To enjoy city views of the Lower Town there are some great vantage points along the promenade.
On our way down from the Upper Town, we walked through Zagreb’s famed Stone Gate. Once the eastern gate into the medieval settlement now houses a small chapel.
Let’s take a break from all the sightseeing to introduce you to one of our favourite restaurants in Zagreb when it comes to truffle dishes
And craving more views of the city, we then went up Zagreb 360.
Known as the Green Horseshoe, this park was named after Milan Lenuci who came up with the idea of creating connected green spaces right in the downtown. The horseshoe is home to several museums, galleries and archives.
If you’re into hockey and you visit Zagreb during the season, you can catch a game in the city. We watched Medveščak Zagreb play.
And that’s it for our visit to Zagreb! We hope you enjoyed this travel guide and that you got a few ideas of things to see, eat and do on your own visit.

Hi. Thank you for the video. I have a couple of questions. I don’t think I caught the name of the Restaurant where they plated the truffle risotto at the table? Also, do you still have the link to the airbnb you stayed in? I would like to see the exact location of it as well as look at others close by as you seemed to be in a perfect location to see all the sights you showed in the video. Was it far from the airport? What kind of public transportation is available?

      @chrisokonowski3434 Před 5 lety

Currently visiting Zagreb and noticed your message. It's about 10-15min from the airport. It is truffle season in September I guess, so I've noticed most restaurants have at least one dish on their menu with truffles. I had ravioli truffle last night, so good! There are taxi's buzzing around town and a blue train/trolley that runs all over downtown. Havent had any issues speaking English here and the locals are very welcoming. Great city to visit!

    guys....for your subscribers....about my hometown....this will be long...hahahaha...
tkalčićeva street 100y ago was red light district.
st.mark church is from 13th century and idk if you have noticed, audry when you were filming the church you were in front of Banski dvori(government) and on that side of the church, lets say left of the main gate, there are markings on the floor....legens say that Matija Gubec,a leader of peasant revolt against slavery,1573 was egzecuted in that spot.the markings are of his chair where he was crownd with blazed crown and cut in four pieces....
another thing you didnt see in zagreb is Lotrščak.it is a tower, originaly called Tower at Dverce(dverce is western gate to the upper town, stone gate is eastern)tower useto had a bell that rang in case of theft....nowdays it has a cannon.a cannon fire is marking noon since 1.1.1899. and it didnt fired only twice.
on the end of the video,a guy on the horseback is King Tomislav, first Croatian king crowned 925 a.d.....and we were kingdom until 1918.so almost 1000y.
the Lenuzzi horseshue is made from three squares and King Tomislav`s square is the last.
at the stone gate if you have noticed chains conecting pillars....these chains are ancor chains from Bounty....yes the Bounty....and there is also one more thing that many my felloy citizens dont know....at 2pm every day the lesser bell from cathedral rings comemorating Battle at Sisak 22 june 1593 when every bell in Kingdom of croatia rang when our army finaly defited ottman army and freed the homeland after 300 y fighting!from that day forward that bell is ringing every day in ¸14.00h
and for the end Zagreb is 38km long and 22km wide, total area 642km2.1990. it had 1750km2 and it was big as new york.today zagreb is most populated city in croatia and it is second largest city after Gospić

Zagreb has come a long way over the last 18 years. If it wasn't for the war for independence and that global economic meltdown of 2009, which was brutal for Croatia and lasted all the way to 2014, much of Zagreb's old town would have been completely renovated like in Ljubljana. Slovenia didn't have to go through a whole devastating war like Croatia did. Slovenia's economy was left in tact, while Croatia's was completely decimated. But the country has come a long way since the end of the war in 1995 and especially since 2000 when Croatia transferred power from a wartime government to one that was focused on taking Croatia the EU and NATO. If it wasn't for the war, today Croatia would be 2-3 times as wealthy as it is today (Wealthier than Slovenia is of Croatia today) and would have joined the EU and NATO at the same time as Slovenia. The financial gap between Croatia and Slovenia is getting smaller, thanks to Croatia's thriving tourism and IT Sectors. czcams.com/video/WIui_7ArZSU/video.html - czcams.com/video/XvjvYzzBh-k/video.html - Rimac Automobili is the world leader in EV technology, ahead of Tesla Motors. This startup will one day be involved in many other sectors other than just automotive and will one day be as big as APPLE. Take 10 minutes and Google Rimac Automobili, Rimac, Concept One, and Rimac CTWO, search youtube as well. This startup shows which direction Croatia is going economically. There is also a communication technology startup called infobip which will in short order have annual revenues in the billions of dollars. czcams.com/video/frrIk1xuJUU/video.html These are just two of the most successful startups in Croatia. Slovenia doesn't have any startups that have reached this high level of innovation and international success. They have a company called Pipistrel but that company was around when it was still Yugoslavia and is not considered a startup....but either way the company can't compare to Rimac :)

If you check Slovenia's statistical office website www.stat.si/StatWeb/en/News/Index/7194 the average Slovenian gross monthly salary was EUR 1,756.95. for November of 2017, which is only about 300 EUROS more than in Croatia but it is claimed as much more on other websites such as Wikipedia ....someone is inflating numbers LOL Those Slovenes can be really competitive LOL But the reality is that the Ljubljana stock exchanged was acquired recently by The Zagreb Stock Exchange as was virtually their entire food and retail sector( Droga Kolinska and Mercator)...while Croatia was officially still in recession. I apologize for the lecture on your youtube video, but Slovenians act like they are so superior to Croats...Mainly due to the false impression of success due to not going through a war like Croatia did. But reality is slowly creeping up to them and it wont take long until Croatia overtakes Slovenia economically. My instincts are usually right :)
