Everyone knows when you’re invisible the molecular biochemistry taking place elevating the frequency that essentially nullifies the colds effect on the skin & CNS “central nervous system”. Honestly, that's one of the most sane reason to go to an abandoned insane asylum I've ever heard in movie history. Kudos to the writers for at least making it a logical if not impulsive and dangerous thing to do.
The ending gets a weird when you realize the father is naked the whole time.

The invisibility is for mental health.
It slowly takes over him and he doesnt want his family to see him at his worst.
He feels more and more invisible and shut off to the world when his mental health gets worse.
His daughter goes through the same thing and they use each other as support knowing that they are both struggling with mental health and feeling invisible.
So the grandfather never thought to leave the mental place to check on his family?

4:06 her parents recall her childhood pranks like when she went to school on her own at the age of six! lol, that’s crazy! I bet they all had a laugh when they couldn’t find her! She’s the counting kid that disappears for weeks, and the parents are like “it’s just her up to one of her classic pranks, she’s so silly ha ha ha”! You ever hear something this is so dumb, but people went along with it anyways. I feel like that’s this! Especially because it’s a movie, somebody thought it, someone wrote it down, someone read it and recommended it, it got approved and put in the movie. so anytime you see something so unearthly stupid, just think it was more than one person that thought that was a good idea!
