Wonder Boy you are absolutely right. but i wonder if my brother has a point; that Bond is more utilitarian as a white male because it's easier for him to fit in in European areas where he seeks threats to the Crown (Scandinavia, Russia, Norway etc).
But isn't that part of MI-6's training for their field agents? How to blend in and assimilate with the crowd to go unnoticed? A brown guy could pull it off, surely Idris could!
Don't get me wrong, I like Idris but I don't think he should be Bond (Not just because he's probably to old to begin a series of movies now) I don't agree with any already established popular character being changed, whatever that change may be (race, sex, sexual orientation, nationality etc.) especially when said change is wholly unnecessary. A black James Bond or Human Torch is equally unwarranted as if Blade or Lando Calrissian were suddenly white.
I could however see him introduced as an equally competent 00' agent that then leads to a spin-off movie, that would be cool.
