This is exactly why I don't bother with forums any more...mostly a bunch of amateurs, amateurs pretending to know stuff, a few amateurs who know enough to be dangerous, and a few who do know, but are jealous and/or braggarts.
I have watched and listened intently to every one of Johnny's vids (many times over) and never once got the impression that he's boasting or ever bashed anyone. Look at his video, where he takes an OP trigger (which is like every OP I've seen) and makes it better (while keeping it safer). Like I've said before, all the others are simply drop-in triggers put together by assemblers. But, Johnny IS the gunsmith. I don't need some full-bearded, tacti-dude telling me what is the best for me. Johnny truly listens to his customers and gives them exactly what they want (while still being safe). Even when I ordered a basic, off-the-shelf, drop-in, Johnny called Me! (I can spot a phony instantly). We talked and I can tell you, he IS the real deal. In fact, Johnny has inspired me to become a Glock Armorer! But if I do, all my custom triggers will be from Johnny.

Damn dude I'm glad I found this video. I like to do my own work on my guns. I've always been pretty mechanically inclined and this aspect of firearms comes more naturally than shooting (no such thing as enough range time lol).
I've figured out recently that glocks aren't as plug and play friendly as it seems. Sure they're easy enough to take apart and swap parts around but that doesn't mean they'll be combat reliable and some arrangements will be more unreliable than others. Add in aftermarket changes to tolerance and you get an even higher chance of experiencing malfunctions. Unless you're rather lucky, you can't just order glock parts, put em together and have the exact gun you want. They're not Legos. You may have to use a file and take a little material off somewhere, there's may be surfaces that need polishing, etc. If you use an aftermarket frame/slide then your trigger needs to be custom fitted to that gun or it isn't gonna work reliably at all. I'm positive glock does some kinda of functions testing and armororing before then send a gun out the door. It's not just assembled from stamped parts by someone with no experience armoring glocks and loaded up at the range. It was extremely irresponsible of me to start gunsmithing the way I did lol. Oh well. That's how we learn I suppose. I'm better for it now but it could get someone hurt.
I'm not saying we should ban 80%s and home builds. I love them. But people should be more educated on what they're about to do. Glocks are just as mechanically vulnerable to tolerance as any other gun..
Let's compare it to to your car. The Honda civic is the most popular car in America and it's a relatively simple machine. Do you trust yourself to build one out of boxes of parts? Do you know what those parts are meant to look and feel like when they're assembled? Do you know how the components interact and the effect of tolerance stacking?
This is complicated shit people devote their life too and trying ny hand at it has given me a newfound respect for what being a professional gunsmith really means

I loved the trigger feel on my gen 3 g19. I hate my g43. The trigger safety is sharp, the break is so stiff, and it vibrates in my hand. All my shots go low and left no matter how much I train.

Hey I'm totally loving your videos im learning a lot ive built a few 80%'s amd i own 2 factory glocks. But im trying to find a video idk if you talk about it but i have a 43x, the trigger breaks so hard the gun moves at the break, i cant shoot well with it im always left of target. What part would i need to buy and replace or which part can i modify?
This tuning help would invaluable.
Have end stage prostate ca and still find him to put out good stuff.

A lot of people want the 3.5 # connector then complain about the long slow break. Meh..I had one and I didn't like it. I ended up putting the stock(ish) one back in. 4.5 # pull with less travel, hits a wall, crisp break. Glock 23 Gen 4..my EDC.
I mastered the trigger break using a coin set on top of the front sight. Squeeze the trigger and coin doesn't fall...dry firing of course.
I have my own gun range in my backyard so if any adjustments need to be made, I'm here at home.

I think the issue for most people is that they can follow steps and copy the cuts and grinds but without understanding why theyre not going to get the results they're looking for. There's a shit ton of nuance in how all these parts interact.

Open question to Johnny or anyone here. Ive noticed an issue with my G30 3rd gen after some modifications ive done and cant figure it out. The issue is, with a round in the chamber and a full magazine loaded...when i rack the slide to chamber the next round, the slide stops and is stuck. Without a magazine, it will eject the chambered round with no issues or without a mag and round in the chamber...the slide will operate normally. I have not fired it since mods and have about 500 rounds through it already. The trigger is very smooth and breaks very nice after mods with all the stock slack, consistent pull all the way back until the break.
Modifications ive done...
1) Polished internals(all points of contact)
2) Installed and trimmed Ghost Pro 3.3lb trigger connector.
3) Gen 4 trigger bar (installed a while back)
4) Lighter trigger safety plunger spring.
5) Ghost stainless steel bullet slide release.
As ive stated before, all operation has improved greatly after mods except with a loaded chamber and magazine. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: to be more specific, the slide will rack back about .5 to 1 inch then stop and wont go back any further...with a round in the chamber and a full magazine.

Get rid of the slide release go back to stock and try it
Very sorry about those negative people out there Johnny Glocks. I have yet to meet somebody who knows it all or has an Uncle who does. Very closed minded people if you ask me. I refer to them as (Plastic) book readers. Anyway I love your insight & intelligence of what your talking about. Would love to ask a few questions about my GLOCK 22 Gen 4. *** I also have a threaded barrel for it & a .9mm conversion barrel also.

Question: Apart from the stamped dimple, is there a difference between the Vertical Extension ("Shark's Fin") of the Gen3 and Gen4 Triggerbars? I compared the two in different frames and there appears to be a different ANGLE wherein the Gen3 is located more towards the center of the frame than the Gen4, with the potential to contact the nose of the top cartridge in a magazine if the magazine catch is was to be reversed? Kindly advise.

What’s a better trigger for uspsa competition? Rolling break or tactical ? Or is it just preference
frank Jasper I think he meant to say tactile. But it’s preference. There’s theories to both. I say in general the guys that like to know where the shot breaks and are used to 1911’s and good single or two stage AR triggers like tactile breaks (myself included). The guys that want to be surprised by the break and revolver/double action guys like the rolling break. A rolling break can get to a lower trigger weight just based on how the connector interacts which some comp guys really want that 2.5lb trigger. In theory pulling through the first shot doesn’t jerk you off target too because you don’t hit a wall. I like the tactile wall because I’m more accurate in staging the longer shots to the wall first and having very little trigger movement when I decide to break the shot. I’ve never liked being surprised by the break and think it’s been bad advice to give new shooters. I also like the shorter travel off the reset to breaking the next shot.

If you want a great rolling break, put a Ghost Edge Connector in.. It gets rid of the Glock Bump before the break that pulls your shots left..
sidlarrie2 I don’t shoot left with a stalk trigger.. you can’t replace a connector and get skills, I replace them cause I just like tooling on my guns and like smooth triggers.
