My nephew of a similar age strummed my guitar once or twice then kinda lost interest as it's challenging to play the guitar, but he's clearly musically inclined as he's always grooving to all kinds of music subconsciously. What a joy to see! I'm a lefty of over 30 years and I got to teach my nephew who is a lefty as well! This brings back memories!! When he was around four years old I just tuned my strat to open E tuning and plugged him into an amp and strum the open chord. He loved this...this was probably the best thing....he got a sense of joy and the visceral feeling of pretending to be a little rock star. He didn't pick up the guitar again until maybe 7 years later...I gave him my first lefty acoustic. I had to learn his learning style and just be present with him in the joy of discovery. Tomo your comments on her tone of her major scale was genuine...nice sir. Showing her the magic of Twinkle with scale....good motivation sir! Being gentle and positive and patient and encouraging is what we have to learn to teach...suggestions...perhaps teach a song with chords...chord progression. Keep it fun and motivate by showing the next step with the skills she is learning. This is a very special process and experience! God bless!

Once she gets a bit the hang of it, she will get more interested i am sure of it! I have no talent what so ever. But am able to play and sing song that are not to hard. Mainly chords and some riffs. No fingerpicking unfortunatly!

you have so much to give, really high-quality knowledge, you have achieved a lot, but still you are so humble, down to earth, polite, loving and I am sure that personally you are an even better guy! I admire you! The world would be such a wonderful place with more people like you!

Lovely to watch both of you, well tried Sammi 👏🏼keep it going! All the best, it's a beautiful journey, reminds me of the day I started, when I strummed for the first time, sound I heard was so magical I couldn't stop playing since then, only time I had to put away was when I had hurt my hand! Now I am back on to it, I am not a great player but I love every minute I am on it! You have all that it takes so have fun! 😊

As a lefty guitar player, I really appreciate that you allows your daughter to realize that the lefty orientation is more natural for her. I’m lefty for almost everything and organically stared playing my father’s guitar that way, without even realizing it. He tried to persuade me to play righty (as did the owner of our local guitar store @ Norm’s Rare Guitars) but I fought against it and I’m so glad that I did. I really think the most important nuisances of guitar playing really comes out of the picking hand.

Tomo , as a father who's son decided he wanted to learn to play guitar I purchased his first acoustic a year ago he's right handed, we decided to take lessons together and learn together. i was very frustrated as I could not strum and was told by many I know nothing learn righty ( I'm a 48 year old lefty... it wasn't till I flipped the guitar the light bulb went off .. we now have two guitars him right, dad lefty we learn together and mirror each other. I applaud you not forcing righty. your a great teacher & my son and I enjoy your videos with one left hand and one right hand! this is my favorite video I have seen.

What a great video, Tomosan! It is so hard to teach your child, and I know Sammi’s not a little one anymore, but your warm demeanor and encouraging style melts even the coolest skeptic- your own kid! I used to be a drummer, and my 13 yr old son is learning the drums now, from a proper teacher (not me). I still can help him work on his lesson, or play a groove, and seeing you teach Sammi is an inspiration and example for me. It’s a very sweet thing, and I enjoyed it very much. I hope that she stays with it and learns from one of the best to be one of the best! Cheers, friend!

Great to see you have as much passion for teaching as you do for playing. Not so with all guitar teachers. Some just like to play. Took me 3 tries before I found a guitar teacher who could teach as well as he played. What a difference! Thanks for posting
