A super-rich Spurs fan ideally.
Sean, how about a show about the German method and how their tickets prices are a fraction of ours with their (I think) shared ownership model?
@@keithparker6520 I'd like to see that, and see a movement to introduce it to England.
Sheikh Jassim 100%
You'll never sing that, you'll never sing that " More then 90% of £851.2m borrowings are at fixed rates, with an average interest rate of 2.79%" you'll never sing that.

What’s out of order is reducing senior discounts. These people have afforded ENIC a massive increase in value while supporting them financially. I,m Not one who has a problem with increases to cover costs, but targeting seniors for extra increases is a slap in the face of the people that have made all of Levy’s moves possible over the last 25 years.
100% spot on
Firstly Sean thanks for bringing us this, we all know this is what sets you apart from the others. The thing about Levy is what you alluded to @ the end, players like Grealish would probably be @ Spurs if only he'd have settled for a few million more. I can't see him giving up the Chairmanship, because it's hard for him to step away from getting involved with the team. Great content.
Sadly the costs that this covers (about £3M) is the same as the bonus Levy just paid himself (about £3M). The guy is mocking us. He knows it and he knows that we know it. Shameless FC
Feels that way !!@@mikezappa
...I agree, btw but if most fans think it's an obnoxious move why aren't the fans collectively speaking up that it's a step to far.
Coming from Melbourne Australia, I have been looking for your commentary this afternoon Sean regarding the financial statement from Tottenham overnight, and I just found it. Will watch your show now. I was waiting for the expert in these types of matters mate, that being you! As per usual, always love your videos regarding our beloved Spurs!
Appreciate it, there will be a better and more depth one when I’m fully 💯 mate
@@SpursTalkShow Fantastic insight already on this episode Sean! Looking forward to the next one.
Agree!
Welcome back, Sean! It was worth to waiting for. Brilliant overview! 👍
As always love the content and love the fact you keep us in the loop. Massive thanks mate
At last was waiting to see this from you!!!
Great discussion Sean. If it is Capital Injection, I would like to see a combination of consortiums come to the table to iron out the finer details. With less concentration of ownership also lessens the risk of egos getting in the way and a more palatable and secure direction for Spurs going forward.
Great video as always. Look forward to see more as the story develops!
Been waiting for this 👍
Excellent show Sean keep this coming COYS
Fabulous overview as per usual, that’s why you stand out from all the rest. Looking forward to your full breakdown. Keep up the great work Sean.

Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic content as usual Sean

You are the best. Sean spurs 4 everrrrrrrrrrrrrr from malta 💙
Great pod Sean I thought I was the only one who rated Levy.
Get well soon
Wishing you a speedy recovery buddy. You must as I love the podcast. Best wishes
Much appreciated
Very good content today Sean.
Solid analysis, Sean.
The multiclub ownership economy of scale is valid, reason why so many businesses grow by acquisition and then optimize.
Let’s hope it eventually ‘trickles down’ to continuing investment to our playing success!
Really interesting video Sean. Love the breakdown of potential investors. I definitely think the new investor will be linked to a multi club ownership as
Michael Edwards reportedly met Levy recently (before rejoining Liverpool) and his new business is focused on multi club ownership. I can see the new hotel chain linked into this in some manner. The fact Levy has been so transparent it makes me think it could be close. I can’t see it being a Middle East tycoon, unless they are already invested into a club
Would love to be a guest on your show buddy. Been a lifelong Spurs fan and follow your podcast every week. Disappointed of recent as I don't get the chance to go to games to see my beloved Spurs as much as I would like as I am disabled. I still follow them everywhere I can and keep up to date with all related news on Tottenham Hotspur. Look forward to hearing back from you.
Best way to introduce yourself if to come on a members show that I do mate and then we can chat initially in that forum and then perhaps do more in the future. It’s how I have met most of the regulars on the show
Very interesting ✌
Hi Sean, what's your opinion of the xG technology? Is it suitable only for sports like baseball and do you think the predictive power drops, because of the complexity of the open play (set pieces can be predicted more accurate imo)? Coys :)
Immensely enjoyed that video Shaun. You’ve made me understand how Levy operates. I think we’re in good hands under him. It’s the way the world is going. BUT still, a trophy or two would be amazing.
Many thanks Sean for your brilliant analysis of the financial report, and I'm sure there'll be loads of seriously switched on 'city types' who'll be fascinated by your overview. However, I'd say more than 90% of Spurs fans are interested only in how much is going to be directly invested into the team. We're not accountants mate, we're football fans who just want the club to be seriously competitive on the pitch, by developing our own young talent, whilst at the same time, being perfectly able to buy the best players when Ange thinks we need to. Thankfully, we're not a club threatened by any PSR or FFP restrictions, so we really should make the most from that position.
Weird that fans complain about what Daniel Levy earns, when his wage including bonus is less than Timo Werner earns. Scaled up to a yearly figure close to £9m
Super post, smart dude
I appreciate that!
Get better soon mate
Brilliant Shaun. Thank you. Get well buddy. Would love to you one day by the south stand and buy you a pint. Top knowledgeable man. God bless. 🙏🏾👊🏾. COYS.
Im there every week mate, you dont need to buy me a beer but do come and say hello!
Will do. It’s been a frustrating season for me in terms of due to work commitments, I’ve not been able to get to any games this season and when I’ve tried to get tickets I’m too late as the website crashes or tickets have been sold. Code season in 8 years I’ve not managed to get into the stadium. So frustrating. Stay blessed and hope to meet one day soon. COYS.
Thanks for the update Sean. Sorry this maybe a silly question but what about selling the stadium naming rights? Would that not help? Levy & Enic have not done done bad for an investment which cost them in the region of 80 million to control 85% of the club and today its worth billions.
Levy outters should be careful what they wish for. We're on a good path right now, future looks good. People laughed at the F1, the concerts and the longest bar etc but those investments help us for FFP. Keep adding commercial revenue streams to help us on the pitch. Great balanced view again Sean. Best Spurs channel out there.
One thing though, this senior discount thing is BS. Big mistep by the club. Fix that and let's move forward .
Your right when you say new owners can't spend more etc if a full takeover happened. But most of our losses are related to stadium repayments and existing debt a new owner would clear those debts leaving them £500m a year give or take to spend before ffp kicks in so we would be a lot better off
I wonder if that 50m not taken from the 150m proposed cash injection for a small percentage increase in Levy/ENICs stake is intended for the hotel build and infrastructure projects. For example, Spurs WSL training ground facilities and general maintenance. Moving on to whether the Club is sold. I would be uncomfortable if a group of investors chipped in to buy the Club. My reasoning is based on the fact that each investor would have their own agenda, which would mean the possibility of investors pulling in opposite directions much to the detriment of the Club. I would prefer a mega-rich single owner, if and when the Club is sold, or invested in. COYS.
This is what so many of us have said we have issues with enic stance re the club. They have maxed out their investment capabilities and that ain't unusual . What they seemed to want do was stagnate the club position based on their inability to invest more. All they needed to do was as they seem to want to do now...... SPURS NEED MORE INVESTMENT OUTLAY ON THE PITCH BECAUSE OF OUR RIVALS ABILITY TO LIFT THE BAR..... WE NEED EXTRA BACKING TO KEEP UP
you mentioned Everton and 777. Well, MSP Sports Capital/Jham Najafi can, on the 15th, April trigger a majority stake in Everton because MSP has a loan that needs paying off if 777 don't pay that loan off MSP can buy in.
Thanks for making things plain & easy to understand sean - its appreciated. Personally i am not that qualified to name anyone who should invest in spurs but i can say some of the transfer dealings have been appalling ! before buying kulu didnt we pay a massive loan fee for him ? Most of our loan out deals are undisclosed ? who knows what galatasaray are paying us for n,dombele's loan out there but i read somewhere they are only paying approx a 3rd of his wages ! The perisic free signing wasnt so free when you take into account his £180k per week wages which we are probably still paying even though he isnt a spurs player anymore. Massive wages for a player 33 and nearing the end of his football career.
No wonder we are moving onto the brighton model data driven spot the talent in its infancy before they get recognised.
Really would prefer it that people connected with middle east dictatorships dont get a stake in this club. And dont want any US Hedge fund managers either.
Same. Never been a “Levy Out” shouter btw. Proud of our properly managed club.
Yes mate - mite be a case of better devil you know @@BambinoAmericano
I wouldn't have had a problem with Levy/ENIC if they had Tottenham Hotspur FC and their sporting achievements as priority 1. Unfortunately Tottenham Hotspur FC is further down the priority list he couldn't care less about their sporting achievements. Levy/ENIC's goal is to milk and exploit the club as much as possible. That there are still fans defending Levy/ENIC bullshit is fucking disgusting🤮🤮🤮. No wonder we are mocked everywhere on social media and we are the laughing stock of European football!!!
Why do you watch my content if you think my takes are disgusting Tony?
@@SpursTalkShow I don't find you or your content disgusting. You try to explain the situation and be objective but there are fans who would defend an arson if Levy had lit it.
@@tonyrodrigues2785 Ha Ha, don't worry Tony, You will be please to hear Sean is well on his way to securing those media access privileges like Cowlin, Sacks etc, don't be surprised if you see him on Sky or Talksport. Hi Sean, I’m a spurs fan and will levy ever sell to Qatar owners and hopefully sell 100% of the stake because I want him gone for good thanks COYS!
No to Qatar.
@@jonmurray2350 why no to Qatar lol, who else are we gonna get, an American lo
New investment - nice, yes, it’s needed - will doubtless be linked to the FFP position - hopefully we’re in a much stronger FFP position than many of our rivals - FFP FireSale @ City, Chelsea, Newcastle - get in there you Tottenham COYS
And the other side of the fence - DL’s bonus, the poor treatment of senior fans, there’s much that’s negative that also I needs to be highlighted - would a new investor be tempted to go for a full takeover ????
I'm not sure I agree with your views on levys bonus he has given himself. You're right in saying other ceos in the finance industry earn more than levy and get bigger bonuses, the issue I've got with it, is if I'm not mistaken he gave himself this bonus in the season the debacle with conte occurred. That doesn't sit right with me, the uncertainty that season had and the money wasted on conte has to be put on levy. It's shocking timing, and it compounds the notion that he doesn't have much care in the on field progress.
Not quite up for sale as such. But Sean you know this club, we can pretend this is huge or whatever but this club will NEVER change under Levy. We're doing it again! We did this when ENIC invested 150m into the club, nothing changed. Until we're signing top players and only top players, and lifting a title, nothing has changed.
As a neutral, great commentary and explanation of the financial breakdown of all the costs and what they refer to.
Taking a step back as Spurs are in a healthy position (unlike many others). What I find interesting (and concerning) is although football across all the leagues have always had a hidden underbelly with under the table deals etc., different times I know, and as the game and its management became more sophisticated and professional so did behaviours OR did it?
Perhaps it just dresses better 🤔 ...as we know with the creation of the Premier League, it launched everyone on a meteoric, lucrative path that has led to the creation of a gluttonous beast forever preoccupied with wanting more, creating more hungry hangers-on such as agents, like players earning ridiculous amounts of salaries that contribute to feeding that need for more revenue streams.
At what point does it stop being sustainable, at what point are fans priced out of the game, at what point does it collapse in on itself...
I didn't bother listening to anyone else re this Spurs financial report. I knew you will simplify it in a language anyone would understand. I hope you get back on your feet soon.
Augsburg is in Bavaria (Gemany) and is only 70km down the round from Bayern Munich.
My bad! Misspoke about all of the clubs lol
@@SpursTalkShow no worries. I‘d love Augsburg to be a partner club for Spurs. I use to live there and my wife is from there too. They have a good setup at the moment and punch above their weight.
Green Clapton Strat behind you ..? COYS ❤
Levy as an owner has an equity stake. He has a direct financial interest in the business, earning profits based on its success and such. In contrast, a CEO is primarily an employee of the company. So is Levy double-dipping?
Umm Al-Quwain. They are deemed an emerging economy. Do they have the resources to invest or even flat out buy the club?
I have no problem with new investors joining Tottenham. As long as Spurs can spend the money for us to compete with the rest of the top teams around Europe. I would love a new chairman at Spurs but that new chairman wouldn't be allowed to spend his own money. Someone like Sheikh Jassim would work if he could sponsor Spurs so we can spend significant money on the squad! Like I said the last time Henry spoke about this issue. I'll believe it when I see it. 🤞🏼😬🤞🏼 #ENICout
Top, top overview - Sean really knows his stuff! #KUDOSLEVY #SpursTalkShow
that chair shawn needs new investment !!!!! just a quilt cover even, jesus for the love of god
'Injection of Capital' suggests that they want investment not a takeover. In my view MSP Sports Capital seem the most viable options due to the potential multi-club ownership model. I don't think 'Iranian' matters since many Iranian's fled after the revolution not to go too deep into it. I don't agree with Levy's bonus because he's not just a CEO, but a 30% stakeholder of the club, so he's basically increasing his asset wealth as well as being the highest paid chairman in the PL. Increasing senior costs and giving yourself a 3 million pound bonus doesn't sit well with me.
What about the naming rights Sean? A ten year deal big bucks, I don’t want any American investments, if we start winning trophy’s may be a big help COYS
I wonder how much of the after tax loss of £86.8m included salaries, bonuses and dividends to Levy and the rest of the board and /or property investment?
Wont the capital injection be used for the development of the Goods yard project?
Targeting loyal Seniors is bang out of order 🤬
Great overview. I'm a businessman, too, Sean, so understand the numbers. The one increase in operating costs, that fans will object to, is the £3M bonus. Whilst the majority of senior execs get bonuses, the reason for them are generally known. Supporters would react differently if it was disclosed, in this instance. Transparency always avoid speculation, whether the reason is liked or not. Vacuums get filled with speculation. Also, Mr Levy owns shares which are, continually, appreciating in value. So, when shares are sold, or future value increased from the capital investments Mr Levy states in his message, his equity, and "fortune" increases. So, for me, why do you need a bonus when, ultimately, you're benefitting from the growth of the business in the long term? Seems greedy and unnecessary. Well to me anyway. He has the ultimate win-win. Also, whether a valid argument or not, I'm sure the Spurs fan base will react to the £3m seniors income increase being given to Mr Levy as a bonus....
Its just a different coroporate compensation structure. The club doesnt pay dividends to its shareholders. If they did then bonuses wouldnt be paid but the dividends would then be the cause of concern. I dont see it as an issue at all personally but to each their own
ENIC are only interested in £££ and not trophies. The fan's are just sheep to be sheared. 'Trust the process' every year since 2001.
@@SpursTalkShow "different corporate compensation structure" In the 90s, before going into meetings at the office, some colleagues and I would joke about how many "wank" words and phrases we were going to hear. It sounds like you must have attended some of these.
Charge the clients more, Pay yourself more, give yourself another bonus (instead of a dividend) all while owning a chunk of an appreciating company. And you can't see the issue here?
Estoril is Portuguese, Beveren is Belgian, Alcorcon is Spain, Sean.
thanks mate!
Let’s hope It’s not joe Lewis in disguise 🙄
The "shock! horror!"pose in the thumbnail. Oh man. This is what it has come to?
It’s all the rage bro!
Levy out IINC out this is the best news i have heard as a Spurs Supporter, levy has hired and fired SUCH AS Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte, Andre Vilas Boas Jose Mourinho, Glen Hoddle, Juande Ramos, Christian Gross, Jacques Santini, Martin Jol, Harry RedKnapp, our clubs last trophy was 2008, it time for change,
And his first act in 2001 was to sack George Graham just before an fa cup semi final against Arsenal which of course we lost under Hoddle.
Spurs are a massive football club and with so much money coming in this money orientated guy will never sell!
A wonderful iconic name only a business now! So sad.
You ok Sean ?
I hope we form an alliance with an entity that can promote growth not simply buy shares. A football sporting group coalition makes perfect sense but I could see growth through F1 or NFL diversity also increasing profitability. Thinking way outside the box, instead of a sporting federation consider a pact within the entertainment portfolio to maximize the stadium utility. Hotels, restaurants or Casinos as supporting infrastructure within the community. A Vegas or Disney dream ?
mr shake will buy the team as soon as we solidify 4th
I think the deal is already done for Levy to make this announcement I think he is close or have already sealed the deal will announce after the season is completed
Interesting that season ticket renewals must be done by the day after the EPL season ends, isn't it?
Quite possible
I predicted a while back that Man U deal will open up a swathe of minority sale stakes because it will value the football market as Man U is an apex predator. Voila. A valuation of 3.5 BN is feasible so 10% dilution sale can raise around 389 MN - more than enough to address problem areas in our squad.
You will also notice that, prior to Levy seeking external investment, he had the stadium revalued by Chartered Surveyors and the new valuation is £1.5bhn, which adds nearly £400m to the value of the football club.....
Sean, you know as well as I do (probably better), even though you didn't mention it, that the new stadium remains a bit of a cash cow in that there has been, to the best of our knowledge, no progress whatsoever on stadium naming rights, which would represent a significant contribution to the equity base. I, like you, am not a "Levy Outer", but this has been one of his failures.
If you ask 'who would you like to invest in THFC', then the questions to address are these. Firstly, does a new investor have expertise in football and, if not, do they have a track record in hiring successful industry experts in other industries they have been successful investors in? Secondly, will this be an equity investment or a 'Leveraged-Buy-Out' style funding - the latter does nothing for fans nor the club and benefits solely bankers. The last thing Tottenham needs right now is an extra £40-50m a year going out of the club in LBO repayment charges, the club paying for the new investors' refusal to pay their own debts. Thirdly, do the new investors have access to novel sponsors/geographical partners that will add to the current capabilities? Tapping large untapped markets is an obvious way of growing commercial revenues (and right now, commercial revenues are the biggest contributor to overall revenues in the biggest competitor clubs). Fourthly, do new investors have visions additional to the current ENIC vision and if so, how will that benefit the football club and its fans?
Been agreeing with you a lot more lately.Which one of us has shifted? Both of us..Lets be real you cant defend some of the decision this club makes,we need new owners.
Bang on.
its more like looking for investment so they can make money from it, nothing to do with footballing success, dont get me started on Levys bonus, disgusting
The hotel etc and capital I frastracture is the main reason. foe new investment and more importantly the failure to get naming rights !!
Different investments - the hotel and other infrastructure projects are separate to the football club, one will not finance the other nor will they share profits.
I thought Joe Lewis wasn't part of the club anymore especially with the court case in America coming up?
The. Numbers. You. Where. Reading. Grat. Details. Thanks. For. Doing. Homework. Sounds. Like. Where. Robin. Peter. To. Pay. Paul. At. Moment
Doesn’t sound like a full takeover or title is a bit click baity! Investment into the team would be great. Would be the most spurs thing to do to get an investor and build a bigger hotel
I'm all for investment in the club from outside sources but obviously a lot more concerned about how the money is spent rather than where it's come from. (Cynical perhaps but realistic). It's no good giving even more cash for our recruitment team to throw away on the likes of Werner and Richarlison.
It's OK saying that the increase in the cost of living should be passed on to the customers, and at Spurs always is, when the cost of living goes down, the prices never do, they might freeze the cost of tickets and merchandise but they won't go down.
Unfortunately I’ve started to accept that we will never be successful.
We’ve been starved of it for so long behind this excuse that we’re financially stable and still can’t even balance the books. That’s just embarrassing.
These owners don’t want the club to win….. the club and fans are just a cash cow.
Spurs have the highest ticket prices in the entire league with zero success on the pitch.
The product is poor value compared to most clubs in the league and in Europe, so I’m not sure how anyone can justify further price rises for fans.
It’s pure greed. But unfortunately as long as they are making money they won’t sell and this club will continue to be unsuccessful.
Well said,here here.
I'm afraid your argument is based on a faulty premise. The single reason that Spurs are posting losses right now is that Levy et al have invested £300m in the past two financial years into improving the first team. If you look at Note 10 of the 2023 accounts, you will see it spelt out in black and white. So you are complaining about Levy investing more than he ever has done into players on the pitch.....
@@rhysjaggar4677 I’m afraid your argument is ignoring the fact we have won 1 league cup in 24 years, which for a clubs that’s the most expensive to watch in the country is pretty poor.
Unless of course you feel that’s some kind of achievement?
You’re focusing on one part where Levy has spent money recently and he did so because he had to. The squad was neglected for years and got stale, dropping down the league season by season and the champions league money and ambitions for super leagues etc was going down the pan.
Doing it the cheap wasn’t working anymore.
Levy may have invested 300m according to you, but Levy’s policy of buying players because he thinks they are ‘on offer’ or have potential sell on values hasn’t worked. Choosing those types of players over strengthening the areas of the squad we need hasn’t worked.
Giving constant new contracts to the same poor performing players because he wants to get a transfer fee for them later hasn’t worked.
The clubs who win and challenge for the big trophies don’t operate this way.
Levy has shown nothing to suggest we are ever going to compete with the big boys in 24 years of failure….. so it’s not unreasonable to suggest this will continue is it?
At the end of the day 25 years in charge , longest reigning chairman and only 1 trophy to show in your tenure as a chairman of a FOOTBALL CLUB, not an investment firm is simply a failure, we will never be successful under this ownership end off
I expect American investment by someone who has ties to the nfl
I think your right
To transfer existing loans to the new low interest product with the help of the government at the time was a no brainer, those of us who actually run businesses all recognised this and did it if necessary. When it happened I didn't think he was a genius, the guy was just doing his job FFS.
No the genius move was to put up ST prices and remove Senior concessions, to make an extra £3m and then immediately pay himself (another) bonus of surprise surprise £3m
Levy tried to sell to the Saudis before they bought Newcastle
The question is Sean who would we like to take over Americans Arabs or a wealthy alternative
Yet levy still gifts himself a 3 million pound bonus?

Let us get real spurs fans, Ange has virtually sniffed at the importance of top 4 this season as a legitimate target and that come next season he wants to be challenging the top 3 teams in the Prem.
