- This is an instructional video on how to make and install a fuel restrictor in an F7, M7 engine. The Arctic Cat F7, M7 motor tends to run rich and can be metered back to run at the optimum pressure. 15HP gain if you have a sled that is running a higher fuel pressure.
Thanks for watching.
this is a good mod if you wanna do a top end every year or two
You could just buy a adjustable fuel regulator from jegs or summit racing and install it in line instead of drilling and taping that barb for different jets and then you can adjust it with out having to take it apart to change jets !
The poser commander is doing the same thing. The power commander allows you to change the entire fuel curve. The fuel restrictor only affects the fuel flow at WOT. For someone that does not want to spend the money on the fuel controller, the fuel restrictor is a cheap alternative.
I can attest to this, I ran my 03 F7 this weekend in a radar run with this mod, if not for the 2 pros running in that class I would've place 1st and not 3rd. My F7 with another driver on it drag raced a ZRT 800 and blew him away. This is a nice inexpensive little boost of power. I may try the 280 jet next weekend in another radar run.
You do run that risk if you drop the fuel pressure below 41 psi. I know some guys that go as low as 38 psi, but they do run the risk of ruining the motor if they hold WOT too long. If your machine is already running near 41 psi, you will not feel much of a change. Mine was at 47 psi and the change was dramatic.
In my opinion... first check your pressure and determine from there if you want to reduce the fuel or not. The 2003 f7 maps run lean from the factory and the 2006 map is supposed to fix the richness issue for 04 and 05 models.
rather rich,,than lean
My 06 runs extremely rich stock
very well made video thanks for the tip!
Great video thanks David!
Enjoyed the video ty!' Clint , mod squad engineering owosso mi
what kind of seat is on this sled! and where did you purchase it?
Good video interested would it drop farther under a load?
Does this also go same for F6?
Would a boondocker control box in a sense do the same thing if tuned correctly?
Boondocks controlls the dwell of the injectors. Amount of time open to spray fuel
I have a 2005 SaberCat 700 in a 2005 Firecat 500 I was wondering what should I run in the SaberCat and what should I run in the Firecat as far as the Jets I want to make them run faster
I have an m7 with pipe can reeds and a power cammander would this help or would it be the same as fuel mods on the powercammander
Would leaning off from 5000 -6000 be what the fuel restrictor dose by restricting the flow
I want to do this trick but my fuel pressure regulator just fail and my pressure is changin from 45-58 psi at any time, so i would like to know if i put the same jet as you it will stabilise the pressure at 41 psi or it will move to crazy psi again ? Thanks
Where did you take your barb T fitting ? Thanks
Would it be possible to do it to a 2008 crossfire 800
I put twin pipes on my 04 f6 and its getting to much fuel would this work
Does the muffpot work okay there? How did u secure it?
I'd like to do this to my 03 F7. Where can I get this part?
To help eliminate a mid range bog
I have a 2004 F7 efi sno pro. With GGB mountain can, I have the mid range bog. Even with stock can it’s slightly there. But will have more snot. I have these parts but I have a 320 and 340 jet. Will I be okay with one of said two? Please comment!! Snow is falling. Thanks !
Tyler LaFortune did you ever end up tryingthis? Mine eats gas like crazy and any videos of the mountain can? I have a trail can looking to go up
340 is the exact same As stock, 300 should be the biggest you go.
By increasing fuel you aren't running leaner you are actually running richer. Lean means that you have more oxygen in your air:fuel ratio then a stock ratio while rich mans you have increased the amount fuel in your air:fuel ratio over stock.
he was RESTRICTING fuel flow. not INCREASING it. less fuel meaning its running leaner
Garrett McQuade Yea I know lol
Oh oh oh, were you correcting him on his terms?
Garrett McQuade yes
can you do this on a zr 900 efi?
what does two eighty size mean? Can you give me size range in mm?
This work for 800? What size jet?
You don't run the chance of burning up a piston?
does this mod help with Fuel mileage?
Yes, as your using less gas by restricting it
mine is bone stock ,,except for airbox bulletts,,gonna leave it alone
15 hp gain? Really? More than a pipe and head?
Not ideal way to restrict fuel get a fuel tuner.
