That beat originally was actually done by Evidence, and the version of it here is still Evidence's. On College Dropout, Ye had a live band recreate the sample and he redid the drums, but the melody and chops are still the same as Evidence's I believe.

Kanye said it himself that the only reason his beats were as good as they were is because of being in the studio with Just Blaze all day for that period right before and after blueprint dropped. Blaze is such a good fucking producer, he made Kanye work even harder which set the tone for how The College Dropout would wind up sounding.

No he did not. Producers give flow and ideas to the artists so they will know how to approach the instrumental. If you notice Kanye was just saying random shit. That’s the whole job of a producer. They are the director of the band per say
