I remember seeing the Numb/Encore video for the first time. I had no idea they were doing anything like this, and I'd just seen them live the year before and they did It's Going Down as part of the set and it was incredible, and then this was on MTV in the background one day and I was like "hang on, that's LP.. but different?" I went and sat on the arm of the sofa to watch it and just cried, and I'm not a moved to tears kind of person at all. This and Reanimation were both such innovative albums. Jay-Z as most artists do, has a lot of variance in his music and a lot of talent in making said music. I don't even particularly like his music, but your breakdown of what Jay does shows you have no understanding of how music is made, what skills it takes to make it, and the dynamic of this room. Jay-Z at this point was already a bona-fide legend, and Linkin park respected him for his place in music and its history. Linkin Park became legends in and of themselves, but there's room for more than 1 legend.

“I might have to bring out the young Jay Z”
I busted out laughing. Even how he didn’t want to brag when Mike asked how much time he has and he’s like ... uhh i do vocals kind of fast
I truly thought Jay was crying at the end of the tribute. The respect he has/had for Chester was never more obvious than during that song.

thinking about how they came together at the peak of their popularity- like both of them were dominating their respective genres and decided to mash up the craziest records from both of their catalogues and made them sound so fresh. it was like hearing them for the first time all over again. what a beautiful decision. very underrated collaborative record.

Linkin park- you're cool.Thank you for being, are and will be in my life.
