  • The final instalment of our adventure on the Isle of Grain, Kent, saves the best 'till last. Joined by fellow CZcamsr Tom Outdoors and friend Chris, we decide to try and find the buried remnants of what was once an enormous Victorian Fort overlooking the Thames and Medway. Grain Fort was demolished in the 1950s and only a few sections remain above ground in a park, but after some time searching we managed to find some narrow holes in the ground leading into two incredible sets of cavernous brick tunnels forming the fort's magazines and caponiers. Truly amazing what lies under the least-suspecting of places - thousands of dog walkers walk through this park every year with no idea what lies underfoot...

Feeling old. Myself and some mate used to play all over the fort some 50 years ago.

Cheers Mike - we did have the odd headlamp but not as bright as the Cree led torch. Hard hats probably not a bad idea

Definitley worth a look they’re massive! Just takes a little while to find the entrances as they’re tucked away in the wooded areas

Indeed I’m sure we will get down Dover way eventually. We’ve done a few bits around the Medway, most are photos and articles on our website rather than videos. Always looking to expand the horizons though 👌
