You can search up "'Strange Case of Dr. Ho Man Kwok'' and read about it. MSG btw is just a chemical compound that naturally occurs in many foods including cheese, mushrooms, seafood, juice, tomatoes and anchovies etc. It isn't harmful for the body certainly less harmful than salt. If you are allergic to MSG then you should be allergic to many many types of natural foods including processed food with MSG(E621) in it.

We're it not for China we in Africa would still be buying poorly specked car and mobile phone from the west at a very expensive price, they came and made well loaded tech affordable for us and am so glad to see their cars gradually being accepted in Nigeria, they should ship them here since their local market is saturated with competition for now, we will buy them.
I heard some Chinese companies have build Lithium mining factories and battery factories in Morocco. Hope they can build a full EV supply chain in Africa.
China have done a lot in Africa, though they ain't perfect but they are way better, so much infrastructure coming up, I think they are in the right path for now. Am using a Chinese phone right now and I can assure you if I were to buy it's equivalent in a western phone it will be like Three or even four time ls the price.

I heard Volvo would sell its mic EV in USA this year.
If China EXPORTED these vehicles to the USA, they would be subject to a 27.5% tariff, so BYD had started investigating production in Mexico to take advantage of the USMCA agreement. The US has made it very clear that should BYD do so, they will ignore the USMCA agreement and ban these vehicles from being sold in the USA. This is the American way of playing by the "rules based global order".

This is disappointing coverage by Al Jazeera; I expect better. BYD surpassed Tesla in EV sales in 2022. In a single quarter in 2023 it surpassed Tesla in BEV sales, although it is highly likely that it will pass Tesla in BEV sales in 2024. Also, China does not have a slowing economy; its economy continues to grow and to outgrow the global average GDP growth and this includes IMF forecasts for 2024.

@@rebym sorry I meant BYD sells twice as many EVs as Tesla. The EVs include plug in hybrids which can be used as a Pure EV. In China these are termed as NEVs, China has 60% of the global Nev market. BYD beat Tesla last quarter in Pures but Tesla came back this quarter to take the crown in Pures, it's going to be a tight race this year in Pures but Nev BYD is at the top.

Inflation here in the US is out of control, and yet the government whose job is to "serve" the people does not want average joes to buy cheaper cars.

The US and western Europe have less than half the population of China between them. The world is 8 billion people. China will just reciprocate on the US and eventually ban all US goods (including Microsoft, etc.) using the same pretext that they are a security risk. In an economic war, China has 4x the population of the US. Guess who loses more?
