      It seems to me that he's really bad at reading people but he thinks he's great at it. So if he happens to be right he looks like a genius because he has the right read and never wavers. But more often than not he's wrong.
      His logic in this one really made absolutely no sense too. Adam as a demon would be given 3 bluffs, so why on earth would he double claim soldier? Then Jon switched to saying he was a spy, which would mean he was a freaking spy that knew that Dom was the solider and claimed soldier to DOM! Then he refuses to even trust his info because he's so damn sure of his read for a really goofy illogical reason.

    I am so impressed by Brooke’s pivot at 1:27:30. After hard-claiming that she is the Mayor to Dom, she gets in a conversation with Sully. And Sully reveals that he is the actual Mayor.
    I’ve seen that situation play out before, and the evil player often panics, sticks with their double-claim, and claims it back to the other person. This 100% pins down one of them as evil, and is a really bad thing for team evil.
    Instead, Brooke seamlessly switches gears, claims one of the few unclaimed Townsfolk roles, and even comes up with an justification for why she lied to Dom. Awesome.

    @BlasphemyBaby Před 2 lety +364

    Holly is such a great exemplar on how to play evil in these games: claim early, claim confidently, and claim often. Put yourself out there to someone good asap so they'll mentally slot you into your claim as a "probably" (claims in social deduction games are very "first come, first served"). Claim confidently by insisting on your info, even if it's wrong. Include the caveat that drunk or poison is on the table, but prod and push the people that you would have done if this info were real. Claim often, reminding people of your claim and updating the townsfolk you'd previously let into your "info" on what your new "info" is. Again, if it's proven wrong, you can always fret that you were poisoned, so it's better to get misinfo out there than to keep mum.

      @@McBehrer i won't lie I'm not a huge fan of the NRB script. It was very appealing at first and I was really excited for it, and yes, it certainly has some very cool roles thar play off of each other well, however I ended up really disliking the fact that for all of the NRB games, the storytellers were deciding who to kill. Not only did i personally just find it uninteresting (since the storyteller's were mostly picking kills that are the most balanced), but it also led to a lot of controversy, and has players thinking too much about the meta. I don't like how much of a say the storytellers had in those games, and you can see from the videos where they played it that there was definitely a feeling of pointlessness because at the end of the day the victory felt like it was just a coin flip on the storyteller's behalf.
      that's just my personal feeling though and if others think otherwise then i think that's brilliant

    • @nhaedzwero43

      @@entitree. That may be so when thinking in this game one can only win or lose.
      The NRB team, specifically Ben and Tom have said "If the players are having fun, then we're winning".
      NRB script was made for maximizing deceit and uncertainty, which would be basically impossible to replicate in person. The way the storytellers handle Lil' Monsta and Legion games aren't to make either team win by chance, but to keep that uncertainty going while giving people a chance to win.
      In the three games before this Carley won by finding her Huntsman as a Damsel, turning into a Snake Charmer and picking the Lil' Monsta by a roll of the dice, then bluffing until the end; The Legion was so ingrained in the group that the good players needed a leap of faith, disregarding logic, to win; Blair had to make a hail-mary play to choose the Lil' Monsta in a 50/50 between a person who was outed early on and a Huntsman who still convinced people of it being a Vortox game.
      I have never felt it was "a coin flip on the storytellers' behalf".

    • @baydiac
      @baydiac Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@entitree.All of them? There are only very specific scenarios where the storytellers can choose who dies, and those exist for ALL clocktower games. They're not NRB specific by any stretch.
      Also incidentally I love TB because all the different role combinations means it doesn't actually "get old" very quickly. Just when you think you've solved the meta, someone else who's also solved the meta came up with a counter for your solve.
      There are some roles I really dislike in clocktower (the Twins the most because as we've often seen here, they're the "congrats you two aren't allowed to play the game" role and that applies to the awful Amnesiac role to a lesser extent too, but for personal reasons I'm also opposed to the Savant and the Mutant). But clocktower has like over 200 roles so it's never impacted me too negatively.
      TL;DR What is a "NRB script" if not a clocktower script? They aren't using anything that isn't official material, even among the experimental and fabled roles...

      That's why when there's an Undertaker on the script you execute every day. Everyone is congratulating Holly for her sharp play, and rightly so. But I don't think we should overlook the real MVP of the evil team...
    Adam.
    When his lie was called out and he was forced into using his slayer ability on day one it wasn't ideal, but at that point the best thing for his own team would be for him to get executed afterwards. But his vehemence that he didn't want to die meant he ended up wasting two days for the good team, throwing the fortune teller under the bus _and_ negating the gravedigger all for the paltry payoff of him staying alive as a spent slayer. The best unwitting minion an imp could have, I reckon. 😂

      With his ability spent, he should have willingly died in case there was an undertaker to confirm him (which there was). That added a lot of confusion throughout the game. There was a few people super sus of him for awhile after.

      For real. Adam's play really frustrated me in this game... He basically hard claimed soldier to the ACTUAL soldier, then another player had an evil ping on him. Of course he's going to be nominated on the first day, if he had just taken his shot and dealt with the consequences of his bold play the town could have moved on and gotten some undertaker info.
      He also WAY overvalued the slayer role, it's really a middling role amongst the TB characters, and it's not even that bad to kill D1. I do think the NRB cast in general value their roles way too highly. I'm not sure a single one of these games has gone by without someone saying some variation of the phrase "I'm telling you who I am, if I die tonight I'll know it was you."
      At least Adam came to terms with why Pete was pushing so hard on him when he heard the double confirmation, but still. Kinda tripped up the good team by placing too much emphasis on his life.

You can see the "trouble brewing" in Adam's face as he sits and ponders the unlikeliest (if just barely possible) scenarios, just as the rest of his team sits on the precipice of victory. Then his face lights up in fear and revelation, his mouth opens silently, and I know it's coming. He's about to pull a U-turn.
      I think it's because people are super scared of being on the receiving end of some "big brain play" that they try to find the most convoluted possibilities instead of what's most likely, most obvious, staring them in the face. Adam particularly is intelligent enough to find those convoluted scenarios, but he lacks Carley's ability to self-edit for common sense/Occam's razor. Also, he's driven to be the hero, so he's always gonna fidget when someone else tries their own bold play, and look for ways to undermine it, so he can be the guy. There were so many times to fix it. He could've died and got out the way, that only happened because he begged over and over to be spared. @1D1-Myke I am fully aware that Adam was purposefully choosing to spread misinformation, without role-swapping to protect someone else or without knowledge of if the bluffed roles were in the game, or without even attempting to find that out. That is part of what I thought was poor :P As far as I can tell, the plan was "I am the slayer, I must live at all costs" when the best the slayer can hope for is a 50/50 shot at the end of the game, which would be nice if it happened, but surely this isn't the way to go about it lol. There are powerful roles who can provide guaranteed sustained use, or have actual reason to disguise who they are, such as fortune teller/empath/ravenkeeper/undertaker, who have far more reason to consider being tricky with their role, if everyone is doing it it's just like evil has more poisoners. Even if I accept all of that as fine play, the correct move once things fell on him should've been to accept the 6 votes and die, not to beg people to tie it, without confirming a role. Holly was the first of town to pick up on tying the vote and not needing to kill because she was the demon, and she knows that executions are how town wins and often how it gathers information and how it removes suspicious people. It did so much work for evil, keeping Adam around and having him draw suspicion, even after Jon confirmed him. If they'd executed him that night, Jon likely would've picked someone else when he died as Ravenkeeper, and town would've been able to talk about something else other than "Adam messed this up but let's not kill him or anyone else".
      I wanna be 100% clear, I like Adam, I like the game, I like the channel me liking these things is totally separate from needing it to be 'competitive' or whatever. It just seems really clear to me that the game was lost by one town and I find it surprising that people disagree

      @@arandombard1197 you can't simultaneously say "a demon won't double claim" and "it's good to double claim". I agree a demon wouldn't want to do it, because they know how evil it makes them look, because it's bad play. But most importantly, they didn't double claim, they made one claim and presented it in a way that looked like buckling under pressure or getting his story mixed up. Even people like Jon and sully who eventually came round said he just projected himself as someone who had been caught in a lie. I find it wild that the first two days centered their discussion on one person, who had a middling power role, because of mistakes they made, and then that person saved the demon at the end by getting them to tie the vote on Holly, and you don't consider that person to be at fault. Idk if you think I'm attacking Adam as a person, I'm not, you can mess up one game horrifically badly and still be a good guy, and he is. It's not a hate comment, it's just a comment of amazement. He prevented Brookes power to work due to this and forced the fortune teller to be revealed.
    He could have accepted to be executed and undertaker could have proven that he was good

    I love that neither of the minions actually did anything with their ability, but evil still managed a win. Kudos to Holly obviously for basically playing a game of chicken on that final day and making Ken break first, but also to Brooke and Luke for having the discipline to not vote on Sully when he was nominated, which I think would’ve cost them the game.

      @@Moleoflands the mayor was unconfirmed at the point I'm talking about and the only one vouching for Sully was a pretty suspicious Adam, the mayor win only really became an option after the mayor bounce to Adam which wouldnt have happened if she had star passed that night.
      Luke wasn't without suspicion of his own and its still possible that they lose if Holly does star pass but I dont think they would have been as gungho about a mayor win.

      I thought her final kill doomed her. Luke was a super weird kill for almost anyone BUT her. If Sully was the demon he'd kill her or Ken. If Ken was the demon he'd kill her. If she was the demon she'd likely be scared of trying to kill the mayor and Ken had more suspicion on him due to supposedly voting on the virgin. She's the only one that'd actually consider targeting the claimed saint.

  • @cmp-ti4on
    @cmp-ti4on Před 2 lety +12

    I'm normally fine watching them go in the wrong direction because i have all the info and they don't. However, I have no idea why they didn't execute Adam earlier. If Adam was the imp, they would have won. If he was a minion, they would have gotten rid of an evil player. if he was the slayer there would be no harm in his death due to his power having been used, and it would have given sully more proof ha is the mayor. Voting Adam would have also put more pressure on Holly which would ither get her executed the next day leading to a win or have to send the imp away getting rid of a baddy. I've never wanted to be part of one of their games more just because executing Adam only did good. It just felt like the most obvious choice in the world to me. However, like I said I had all the information they didn't, and I think they did a great job despite Adam staying alive so long. So, I wish them all the best in the future games.

    • @dontmisunderstand6041
      @dontmisunderstand6041 Před rokem +1

      It made no sense to accuse him in the first place, and both himself and sully were confirmed good from day 1. Dom was the MVP for the evil team with his entirely pointless crusade against a confirmed ally. The moment Adam said he was the slayer, that should have confirmed that nothing Adam said privately was suspicious, and then using the ability just to pacify the group should then have confirmed Sully as another ally. Pete, his mistakes can be attributed to inexperience or just not really thinking through the math on his ability. With one set of data that says yes, it's only a 1 in 3. With two sets of data that share 1 person both saying yes, it's still only a 50% chance for it to be that one. With a 3rd set of data sharing that 1 person, yes yes yes confirms the 1, yes yes no confirms it's NOT the 1, but is a 50/50 between the others of the first two sets. Then the 4th set of data can be used to confirm or deny one of the two possibilities.
