You're both wrong people misunderstood what happened... The game cut to the part after Nero beat Vergil in the canon version. Right before Dante said adios. That's why Vergil said "i wont lose next time." Instead of replaying the cut scene they just cut to the important part of it.

@@princexerakugo7335 canonically neither of the brothers win. remember when playing as dante that even when you deplete vergil's health bar, he just retaliates and attacks dante, ending the fight. the ending does not change because vergil will, without a doubt, lose to nero. that's why they didn't add a nero fight.

I like how at the end scene when you see Vergil and Dante running into hell to take care of the roots, it mirrors the scene of Vergil from DMC3 running towards Mundus. But this time they are together. It's kinda an added symbolism that things won't play out like they did the first time.
It made me think of when they fought Arkham.

@John Gona Thats exactly right, going on defense. That means spamming Shadow dodge and leaping around like a chicken with its head cut off for 30 minutes while trying to do as little damage as I can. With Vergil it's annoying, this Dante not only is super aggressive but seemingly has armor in HUMAN form. At least with Nero I can spam snatch and blue rose, V sucks
@John Gona Ok. So... would I rather spend 20 minutes "fighting" Dante as V, or 5 minutes using any other character? I'm not saying he can't work, I'm saying he's so weak its genuinely not fun playing him. He's great at crowd control, and chaining checkmates is super fun. But I'm not gonna run around for 20 minutes praying for enough DT so I can hide behind nightmare, that's lame. If the Dante boss is hard to fight as Vergil I refuse to play it as Pitch-fork spamming V, I'm good.

The ending dialog sounds lighthearted, but it really hits me hard in the emotional way.
Dante: What would they say if they saw us?
Vergil: Does it matter? We are still here.
My interpretation is:
Dante: Our life is broken and ridiculous.
Vergil: Survival is all we could ask for.
The twins had stable life and were well off to begin with. Until age eight, they had both parents and lived in a large mansion. Their family tragedy ended their happy days. From that point on, they both lived a violent and difficult life alone, with no hope of restoring the stable life they once had. They certainly still miss those happier days. They still remember it and still talk about it at age 40+. But they could never regain it. Dante had some better days before. He might still believe he could have a better life than just bare survival. Vergil suffered for his whole life. His life improves a little now, and he is content with what he has. He demands nothing more than to stay alive. It's so saddening. Their life is ruined, for an original sin that they have no control over. They were completely innocent as children. Their Sparda blood is their original sin. They have to endure fate's torment for it.
Sparda turned against his former leader and his own people in the underworld. He started feud. In the human world, he abandoned his family and left them vulnerable. As a savior of mankind, he might be worth much respect. But as a person, he really agonized his own kins in both worlds.

Sparda didn't abandon his family, he died under unknown circumstances maybe because of his age.

Mundus killed both Sparda and Eva, then Dante took revenge and destroyed Mundus 'unknown if he actually killed him or just locked him away' unknown if Sparda was killed by Mundus but that's the way I've heard it be told. Eva got killed whilst saving Dante and searching for Vergil.8 years old Vergil almost died whilst fighting off demons in a graveyard he was hiding in after a fight he had with Dante and that's supposed to be when his demonic power came out.

As happy as I am with Vergil back, I wish his campaign feels unique and not repeats of the same ones we already went through. It’ll take time for sure, but I hope by DMC6 he will get a unique campaign. Only a Devil Hunter can dream...
There MAY BE a future campaign DLC for Vergil. Of course, due to COVID season chances are relatively slim.

The point being would be that the British devs for Vergil's downfall wanted to expand upon his back story whilst adding to the mythos and given his moveset closely mirroring DmC one would think that the original devs would want to follow suit
Maybe to mirror dmc3 with subtitle Dante's Awakening, there's gonna be dmc6 with subtitle like Vergil's Redemption. But as you said, one can dream

They'll be back for DMC6 or a DMC6:SE. They're still main characters just as much as Nero is, and everything about this series revolves around Sparda in some fashion. People like Dante and Vergil way too much to not include them.

Caroline Ribeiro fighting style and personality I find that very difficult to see. Emiya is very calculating, thinks through every motion, focuses more on positioning and timing than brute strength, and has a more dry humor more so based on cynicism. I feel like those are all Vergil more so than Dante unless you compare him to the anime Dante. Only things they seem to have in common to me are white hair and red coats.
Even how he uses the swords he conjures is similar to Vergil. Shooting them out from behind himself, raining them down from above, etc

I love that they actually used Dante and not Vante. Reminds me of the boss fights against him in DMC4.
The last lines they said was really heavy. Even tho they screwed up the world a lot of times, in the end, they both survived and protected what their parents left behind and died for. Great story.

Man now this is what I like in a future DMC title. Vergil and Dante bantering while talking about family issues, really loved it when he said "You're never gonna meet your grandkids" and I feel this is a more satisfying ending, where Nero didn't interfere which only shows the brother's are equally matched and didn't really kill each other, but came to a realization that they need to work together and still having that rivalry, but in a more friendlier way.
Nero *does* interfere, this version just skips over that.
Just watching him "running" while playing vergil hurts my eyes
Honestly, I'd say Dante is my favorite boss in the game, if not the entire series. It feels like such a fair fight, you both are evenly matched with the sheer number of skills and versatility, he just has a larger health bar; It genuinely feels like a battle between the Sons of Sparda
I low-key want a DMC prequel with Sparda. I imagine he'd have a mixture of Vergil and Dante's personalities sorta like Nero.
That last part is actually confirmed. They said that Sparda had the levelheadedness of Vergil but the wit and playfulness of Dante.

I have been hoping for Vergil in the main story since DMC3, which was released 15 years ago. They just wouldn't do it. I'm a little saddened and disappointed. How hard is it to make such a game given that he is already all over the place any ways? Make him a good guy. Set him off a journey of self-redemption like Hercules. Give him some interesting bosses at some interesting places. Is that too much? I guess for them it is a yes.

You know... I rather the original dmc5 ending scene, because in that it seems that Dante and Vergil start to feel comfortable one with each other, even with a friendly rivalry. In this Vergil still feels reluctant to Dante.
Not really. Him being able to actually hold a conversation with him without having any kind of animosity shows that he has changed. The only time he actually gets mad is when Dante mentions Nero, which is pretty infuriating for Vergil since he only recently got to know Nero was his son, so he is prolly still trying to fully accept that, Dante teasing him about not seeing his grandkids when Vergil did not have any chance to spend time with Nero also doesn't help.
For the final fight I was really hoping that we can fight Nero instead of having a second round with Dante where goes all in on you. It's OK but a little dissapointed we don't get to fight Nero.
Yeah i wanted to teach nero what happens when you fight your daddy.
But we all know that a fresh Vergil can smack him up easily.

It would be a bit difficult to create a AI nero fight cause nero has alot more ways of fighting like his devil breakers

@@Zach-un2js Much less ways of fighting, you mean? Save for his devil breakers, his moveset is much more basic than Dante's (and Exceed is mostly a damage buff - doesn't change how you would have to avoid the attacks).
Nero's main problem is, he's too fast. His only melee weapon is unreactable, and so is his grab. Can't really make a good fight out of a thousand secondary attacks and GUN.
@@Goodbutevilgenius Not fast enough if you compare to vergil. Nero is the slowest among all 3 of them. The thing is, it takes a lot of time and money to make AI moves for nero from scratch so they skipped it while for Dante or Vergil they were already there.
I'm glad vergil can fight Dante and not with himself like dmc 3 special edition

I mean there wouldn’t be an ending for DMC 3 special edition if Vergil was allowed to beat Dante, I guess that’s how they figured I mean even in this version they had to twist events to make Vergil beating Dante even fit within the story. And I say fit loosely

Yes. He won in the normal version too. Thats why in the cutscenes, when Dante beats him and says i'm up one (Dante) to which Vergil replies we are even. So Vergil wins the mission fight, close battle, but Dante wins the cutscene one, saying he can read Vergil like a book, as he has adapted to his power. So 1-1, showing these 2 are equal
