I played a gig a few months ago and the sound guy said I was playing too loud while we were doing sound check. I then played even louder during the actual show
My drummer just texted my band chat last night... He has another band and theres what happened. He went out of town, hour drive to play a gig. They finished sound check and the venue wanted to CHARGE THEM DOOR to play... with no pay, no food, no drinks. They packed up their gear and the PA THEY PROVIDED for the event and left. Incredible.
I’m sorry, your drummer? “Your” drummer? YOUR drummer?! The drummer BELONGS to you, is that it? This is how you trigger *A* drummer. We are people, too, and we belong to no one! I will let you leave under your own free will. This time. Now gtfo here, scale-boy! This felt way funnier than it will come off but I am committed to the bit and shall post this comment anyway.
@@StopPanakinAnakin ah hell, then you must also be a member of the Drummers Unite, Moisturize Bears And Squirrels Society. It’s not easy being us, and it’s a thankless job, drumming.
My dad was a touring musician (bass player) and pretty much anyone in the music world can have the problem with gigs being no pay and still you get there and the managers look down on you. If a band comes to play for you for free, respect that, so the least you can do is make their life easier setting up for said gig.
I used to play in this band where I would lug all my drums to the gig and just when everything was set up, the singer would walk in and say " Anyone need a hand?" No lie. EVERY TIME!!!😂
From all of us, thank you. When my kids come out to the car to “help unload groceries” after the last item has been brought in, I always ask if they are a guitar player.
I'm from the Balkans, and we have a tradition of gipsy musicians playing in restaurants... we invited a lady from Switzerland to a dinner and she complained to the band about the volume at one point... the reaction was that a guy with saxophone came up to her and played entire song with a solo on her ear... he said "we can only turn the volume up" and did it. we enjoyed it because it taught her respect.
This is very near and dear to my heart. Also it took me back because I knew a Jack Meekof back in AIT in the army. It sounds like a joke but he was a real dude, and I knew the original. Also while you were spoofing for the gig, I legit love that track. Beautiful changes and parts
My friends had a gig at a hotel and they needed to get insurance for the band for some reason. the 5 peice band was only paid 150 to be split upon everyone too so they lost money and basically paid to play there with no meals either 😭
One time we had a gig where the promoter forgot to mention that we were performing on the 10th floor, and the elevator was broken so we had to use the stairs
played these kinds of gigs for 20 years. i just ignored these fools in the end. if they wanted to have the conversation i'd tell them "stop booking acts with drums if you want a quiet evening."
Yes, I've read your closing statement(fighting to hold back the tears, I was) & empathize completely. Mr. Mehof has long been a thorn in the sides of many a great musician (& drummers as well) for far, far...far too long. It's time that they rise, in unison, from their (drum) Thrones & be heard (at whatever volume they so choose). 🤟🐻❄️ 🥁 ➕️ < 🔉= ✅️
This reminds me of a time that someone complained that my bass drum was louder than everything else but their kit that I played on had mutes on everything but the bass drym
I miss the og edited type of Zackgrooves haha, this is the content i loved very much from the earlier editing and video skits. ❤ thank u zackywacky for making my night
Since I'm a huge fan of yours I know that the song you played was at the recidal of nathan but can wwee please have a full track on spotify or any platform?????????????
Wow this brought up some stuff. The "shushing while you're playing" especially. I remember when we were young and didn't have an audience so we used to play with "exposure" as payment. That usually meant 4 beer coupons, the house put up posters, help from techs with setup, and storage after gig, so we could claim our stuff day after. Then I got a serious gig in a serious restaurant and it went EXACTLY as portrayed in this. I was shocked that a dirty smelly place called "LIVER FAILURE" gave us a much fairer deal than a FAMOUS RESTAURANT.
Dude you’re always so killin’. Love your playing! And your vids are hilarious! No one ever complains about the guitar wanker who has to crank his amp to get the right tone. When someone says to me ‘hey I’ve got this gig. No money but its great exposure’ my immediate response is ‘Yeah well… people sometimes DIE from exposure’. That shuts them up.
i miss this typa zack. so funny. also does anyone know if the tune they were playing at the restaurant is a standard? or is it just his tune. because its so groovy

Expo, sure!
Even for his fun silly skit, he makes an absolute slapperingo of a tune. I'm going to need a full version. Sorry, bossman
Yeah that was sick
the full version is performed at an everything yes concert near you
I'm gonna start using "slapperingo" from today onward
Hey man the full version’s called Cloud Island it’s an absolute banger
@@Pp-ig3mothis video’s version is better imo
Video was 10/10 then 4/4 then 6/8 then 10/10. Would watch again
Tell a drummer he plays too loud and you’ll never hear again…
As a drummer I do this a lot with my band.😂😂
Don't say that to the band director for those high/middle school kids
Preach!
I used to play at church. Mostly CCM. Comments are “too many chords” and “too loud”. I kinda quit after hearing it over and over again. Hahahahah

I missed those short comedy videos, I love this one.
Absolutely spot on! Much respect!! 🥁
As a guitarist / vocalist (one of the few that also helps the drummer carry their kit) I can truly relate to this experience

You're giving me war flashbacks right there. Cause this "too loud" gesture is clearly a rejection of peace
0:56 the most randomest conversation I’ve ever heard😭😂

The good old sketches!!! Really nice!!!

They should've turned down the gig. Taking gigs like that hurts all of us. #JustSayNo
Yeah, I hate it when someone tells me I’m playing too loud especially when I’m not even playing that loud.
ptsd hits hard on this one
Out of all the drummers on the Internet this is my absolute favorite, most impeccable feel, but still always in pocket

Right when the gig started - that was a sweet groove and beautiful transition to swing! 😊
One of the funniest things, among many in this, is the C418 Minecraft groove at the very end.

I love the exposure conversation. Whenever someone asks, retort by asking “Who are you exposing me to?”
The faces they make are priceless lmaooo
