That always reminds me of the Ray Charles scene in the original "Blues Brother".. "You can have that for 2,000 bucks, I'll even throw in the black keys for free!"
Mine is also 46 73 so they were made during the same week! My handles are also mounted a bit higher than normal, like yours, and the character of the sound is very very similar. The serial number on mine is 33773 which I find pretty ironic/special.. It was really cool to see this, thanks for sharing!
I owned several of these over the years. They were heavy and a pain is the ass. Keyboards have come a loooong way since these clunkers. I think I paid $750 for a new one in 73. Decades went by as it sat unused in the garage. I couldn't give it away. Then one year--(2008?) I posted it on Craigslist saying "make me an offer" I was surprised that these young cats were ardent to have a "vintage" Rhodes. They gave me 1000 for it.
No matter how heavy they were, they weren't even in the same league as a Hammond B3. Played with several guys who had both. The worst was the guy whose B3 wasn't chopped; those freakin' legs made it a total monster, especially when we had the practice room in the basement.
Maybe not ideal for gigging around, but no digital keyboard will give you that sound. Have a 1976 88 keys one in my studio and would not exchange it with anything.
