    I have just started car camping in a Toyota Highlander and there is no way this 70 yr old lady can pee inside the car. So I bought a medium sized one for my portable toilet. It's great for the middle of the night rather than going to a vault toilet. Haven't showered in it yet. I can also store other items, like firewood and bins.

    I prefer no floor. But I carry along a bamboo bath mat to put on the floor which is easy to brush off. And I prefer the lighter weight. It all adds up toward gas mileage.

      Yes, that is what I was thinking. He camps like me, one person three tents minimum. There is no extra charge. Set a chair and foot stool in the shower tent gives one a great laptop computer room.

      Ozark trail makes a two room pop up bathroom/shower tent. I got one when it was on sale. Great investment!

      @todyoung3474 Před 5 měsíci +4

      Just saw this video. Spent many years using and researching shower tents, coming to the conclusion that two rooms are a must, as is instant setup. Two rooms allows for split function use or a place for towels, clothes, etc. And roomier means it's not a suffocating sauna, especially in summer. Skip Ozark Trails. Cheaply made like all OT gear. Zippers and seams will succumb to stresses of regular use, setting up/taking down, wind and sunlight. Get the Joolca. Aussie made. The best I've ever used. Quick, easy up and down, roomy, tall enough to get your showerhead comfortably above you, enough windows for ventilation, stands up to a bit of wind. Stows in an oblong zippered case like a small shade tent. Fits on the roof rack or inside the car. I spent $189 three or four years ago. May be more now. Spent easily three times that much buying a series of crummy ones over the years. Happy showering.

    One thing to do for a floor for these w/o, first lay down a tarp and extend outside the tent to create something to step out on once you finish showering. Then, inside, on top of the tarp, use a plastic tote or a kiddie pool to stand in, so you are not standing in mud while you shower. Use a large plastic bag to carry in your clean clothes. The kind that you vacuum seal, but only need because of size, not to seal. Even with the $100 shower tent, there is no place to hang or place your clean clothes.
    You gotta do whatcha gotta do!

  • @danrandall794

    Always be careful when unzipping. Never know what kind of deadly critter might have crawled in for warmth. I have the wolfwise and it works good. Left it up one day in the wind to see what it would do and based on that experiment you want to fold it up before the wind comes.

    I've had a few of these pop up tents but quite a few times they've blown away and I've returned from a hike to see my porta loo sitting there in the open and the tent up a tree. I've now purchased an awning style fold out ensuit tent that's attached to my roof rack. It works great for my SUV.

    I’m 5’2” tall and have a regular cheap pop up with no bottom. I like the no bottom as it helps dry out faster and I can pack it quick and go. I have a wooden slat mat to use. It’s the same one you would use showering outside the back of your van.

    • @ThatGirlLib
      @ThatGirlLib Před 6 měsíci +3

      Oh and the bottomless ones are good if you need to use the bathroom outside and there’s no privacy or portable toilet, you can dig a hole and pop a squat anywhere.

    I think for the smallest one, you could still just unzip one side to get in and leave the bottom curve open. Also putting a tarp on the floor like an earlier person suggested to be able to step out would work. Drying the one that has the floor sewn in would be more difficult. I love the ease of setup.

    When I was in the army we’d sling a pair of ponchos between two vehicles for side walls. Always worked great. We’d stand on a folding nbc (mesh) litter for showers. A shower bag left on top your vehicle in the morning will be hot by evening.

  • @kelliesmith4068

    I am 5'8" & bought one for Abt $35, similar to the 1st one, but is plenty big enough to fit my folding camp chair, 5 gallon bucket toilet AND a 15x15" small folding stool. It's plenty big enough AND is easy to put up & fold up. While the biggest one shown is of better quality, for me it is too much work to put up alone, too bulky & heavy. I really like my smaller shower tent a LOT! I only use one zipper while leaving the other one stationary for easy in & out. Mine came with a PVC floor pad, but I prefer a thicker heavy foam type floor that is water repellent.

    I tried using tarps with all kinds of configurations outside but with any amount of breeze the tarp/curtain was sticking onto me and it was cold. Also, even with a tarp to stand on dirt would splatter up on my feet or run over the tarp. For those reasons I chose to get a shower tent.

I have a small tarp for the floor. I don’t use it much so didn’t feel a need for something better. But living full time on the road, I can see wanting a sturdier tent. How can you secure these tents into the hard dry ground out west? I try to pound the steaks down into the ground with a hammer or rock but that ground out west is so hard :(
    Suggestions?

      I just bought some gallon ice-cream bucks that I am going to fill with concrete and tie down to them. I don't rv, but just need to secure things once or twice a year so not concerned about weight.

    I would say a better option is to have the shower in your rig🤔

    Would like a video for sourcing bulk clean water and a good sprayer system.
    I bought this nifty battery operated sprayer from a camping store.
    I put it in a gallon of water and gave it a test..
    After a bout 20 seconds in quit. I had barely gotten my hair wet... -out of water.
    At that rate i would need a stream.
    I dont have any clean water near where I stay in the summer. Im considering some kind of water delivery.

      He did a video on sprayers. I think it was a couple of months ago. I don't know about the water delivery. I'm planning on getting a two or three gallon garden sprayer.

    I live for in Canada, any pop up tents that could cover my entire car, maybe be act as a disguise and keep some heat in as well for a compact car, would this be feasible?

    I leave the door unzipped on mine and only close when I use. Watch for any critters!

    I built mine following the MoBang FoYoBucks method. I use it on my van and on my camper. Easypeasy😊
