  • Here is my review of yet another Tiger I kit. This time the brand new Rye Field Model companies first model kit release ever. There is some really good detail here, and obvious signs of more Tiger kits to come. It's quite a lengthy review but I thought I'd go as in-depth as I could since it's new company.

    I watched this in its entirety last night Adam and it is one of the most comprehensive reviews you have done to date. As you know mine is enroute but I'm not sure if it is really worth while for me to add an additional review because yours is the benchmark standard for reviews imho. Well done sir and thank you for taking the time to film and edit this!!

    A very useful video of this new kit. I know a lot of people out there in model kit land are moaning that this new company have decided to use a Tiger 1 as their first product. (personally I am delighted.... I love Tigers to bits). Plus... they must have done their homework as to what subject would be the biggest seller. People can argue all they like, but Tigers always have been good at disappearing off retail shelves quickly. It's great that this new company are not trying to sell us a cheap knock-off... but a genuine new tooling... "Go forth and multiply Rye Field Models."

    Hey Adam! Your video convinced me to get this kit and do my own review in Spanish. It's my first tank, and I hope to make it justice! (Btw, I linked your video on my review)

    The usual, highly informative review from the guy who is rapidly becoming the absolutely MUST go-to authority on Tigers, Dragon, etc. Thanks Adam.
    A really interesting and obviously very high quality 'maiden voyage' from these guys, with clearly lots more interesting stuff to come, too.
    I predict your subscriber numbers absolutely skyrocketing! Keep up the (REALLY) excellent work. :-) Cheers.

      Mark Pearce Thanks very much Mark. Honestly I'm just obsessed with Tiger kits and I think that shows. The one thing I noticed I didn't mention is the absolute lack of interior, I think because of the future release we all know is coming. No breach at all and no bow machine gun (which is fine). So I think I'll knock this thing together and see how it goes.

      Coen C Thanks Mike. Yeah I don't know what they have planned but I'm certainly curious. It's odd that this one has no interior detail for the breach or bow MG. The ammo on that sprue is at least 4 wide, so I have very high hopes for the interior one.

  • @willfont1143
    @willfont1143 Před 9 lety

    I'm impressed that Rye Field Models' first kit ever is a Tiger. Most nascent companies seem to choose a subject on the periphery of armor kits for their first release... usually anti-tank weapons... as 'Vision Models', 'Riich' and 'IBG' have released. Thanks for the great review... looking forward to your build!

    Building this one now, I am with you , I really don't like the 2pc turret , This one fits ok, but still had to use some putty, I thought the outside is too smooth, I used some thick Mr Surfacer 500 and went over it after it dried with some well worn green scotch brite, which made a big difference, so far the fit is on a scale of 1 - 10 , about a 8, no real big issue'syet. anyway great review !

    This is a amazing kit I can't Complain about anything what so ever in this kit . And for a 2 piece turret I don't see why that would even be a problem whatsoever I've never ever had a issue with that ever that is 101 modeling . Somebody buying this Level of a kit iam pretty sure they know how to take care of A seam line. Really don't think we could compare this kit to a dragon tiger at all

    Its nice to see a run through of the sprues. What I miss however is a discussion of how correct the tool configuration, other dimensions are. Based on memory (I am at work right now) there is not supposed to be a shovel on the front glacis. This is just one example.
    Are there greater, far more difficult inaccuracies to remedy? I have no idea, at least from this review.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  Před 9 lety

      F.W. Sauerteig Fair enough. I know some DAK Tigers had very odd tool arrangements, but honestly I've never been sure if it was a standardized or extemporaneous thing. The same goes for Leningrad initials. As always I would simply use whatever reference pictures of a vehicle I could find. I checked with Dave Byrden's site (Dragon's adviser for their kits) and he doesn't list anything incorrect with the tool layout.

    • @fwsauerteig
      @fwsauerteig Před 9 lety

      Adam Mann Well, for starters, there is the shovel on the glasic. The tow cable configuration seems atypical, but thats easy to fix,. The Modeler's guide tot he tiger tank has a 135 scale drawing of each major variation.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  Před 9 lety

      F.W. Sauerteig So I just did some looking around. The most I ever see is a crowbar on the glacis, but usually nothing. So yeah, I think you are most right. In the future I'll have those Modelers Guide images handy and do some commentary on accuracy. Good call.

    Adam with this kit is it accurate to do the DAK tiger with the 2 tone camo like the 131 version that is shown on the dragon kit box?? granted I know this kit does not include the decals for it which would require aftermarket but I really wanna build this kit but with the 2 tone camo scheme??

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  Před 8 lety

      I believe yes that is correct. RAL 8000 and RAL 7008 are widely accepted as what was being used on Tigers in Tunisia. This is a newer idea though as for years everyone would make 501 Tigers just a light tan. You'll see lots of evidence of that online. Check out the original color images taken by LIFE magazine in Tunisia. You can't make out much camo, but the tonality of the base is easy to see is a dirty/faded RAL 8000 (known as desert yellow by some). Here's one of the images

      Adam, let me explain.
      The bolt heads molded on the side fenders, do not line up with all of the bolt lugs mounted on the hull wall.
      Also, the spacing of these items is wrong. They are all too close together, and then the front one is too far ahead.
      It looks like the designer made a mistake, then he noticed it later on, but instead of moving them all into place, he moved only the front one.
      I will be happy to show you pictures if you don't believe me. Please don't assume that I had the kit parts the "wrong way around". My information comes from an engineer who measured a real Tunisian Tiger.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  Před 9 lety

      David Byrden
      David I always believe you. I didn't look as closely as you obviously. A guy at my armor club had asked if it was true that they didn't fit on because they didn't match. So I cut one off the sprue and we held it up and it didn't fit, so I flipped it around and tried the other side. I had heard from other people around the internet that they didn't fit, not they weren't correct. If they're wrong, I believe that because there is tons wrong with this thing.
