    I just picked one of these up in a thrift store for, get this, $20. No kidding. Still sealed in plastic and absolutely perfect. Winters here in Montana gives you time for indoor stuff. Looking to start on it pretty soon. I'm amazed at the detail of this kit.

    Very nice video Adam. Super clear, in-depth, and you covered everything in less than 40 mins, so you beat me 3 times over! That looks like one hell of a build; I'd enjoy putting something like this together. Maybe after that Dragon Tiger I'll try a RFM one?

    You probably know this, but the "pipes" missing from the motor to the radiators are actually drive shafts for running the fans. I saw an awesome build of a 1/16 or 1/6 Maybach Tiger engine showing it (in motorized working super rivet counter mode!) I think on oddballs channel from East Coast Armory.Sure looks like an awesome model, gonna save me pennies for this one! Thanks for doing the review and build!

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  Před 8 lety

      +Sgt Bones I was referring to the water cooling pipes that Academy did include
      tiger1.info/EN/RM5003-water-pipes.html
      But all kinds of bits are missing from that engine assembly.

    • @SgtBones
      @SgtBones Před 8 lety

      +Adam Mann Ohhhhh, Okay, to me the most glaring omission were the drive shafts! See, I knew you knew! I need to check the Academy kit Review, perhaps that might be a better kit for me since it seems readily available here for a decent price.

    @szametha Před 6 lety

    Fantastic kit! The molding quality is excellent, level of detail is outstanding and the fit is as good as one can expect from a styrene kit. I suppose some areas are inevitably more difficult to assemble considering the sheer complexity of the kit. I´ve built some MiniArt full interiors and this thing leaves them far behind quality-wise. Missing details and inaccuracies are well-manageable; it´s an amazing framework model nonetheless, even for the nitpickiest. Panzer enthousiasts and diorama builders should stockpile this thing. Worth every penny.

  • @DavidByrden1
    @DavidByrden1 Před 8 lety +2

    A couple of points, Adam;
    The pistol port is the wrong way around.
    The intake ducts for the radiators were fixed to the hull roof, but you've left them fixed to the fuel tanks.
    Nice build! I can't believe they messed up the skirts a second time. Will they retain those skirt parts in all of their future Tiger kits?

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  Před 8 lety

      +David Byrden Rye Field's instruction have you glue the ducts to the fuel tanks, so I just followed that. Honestly I didn't know that they were fixed tot he hull, but that makes sense. The pistol port was just an honest mistake. I should be able to flip her around. Thanks David.

      @DavidByrden1 Před 8 lety

      The tanks all had the shovel's clips there. What the crewmen PUT in them, is another question. 311 did have a crowbar there in mid 1943.

      +Coen C Thanks very much Michael. I think it has massive potential. I think you'll be able to make something great with it. One thing I didn't mention in the video is despite it's wonkyness in accuracy, the box does contain the parts to do a standard early like both types of feifels and a standard turret bin, so that helps sell me on the thing.

    • @CoensScaleModelling
      @CoensScaleModelling Před 8 lety

      +Adam Mann It did for me as well. I rarely build a tiger out of the box, so the actual kit contents and decal options aren't strictly connected when I order one. I will order the kit because I can use the bits to build what I want. I source the decals and colours separately most of the time.

    I just purchased this kit. It now has early side fenders on sprue E, but mounting bolts still need to be moved.
    One big thing that bothers me is that there is no decal placement guide or profiles for the Tigers you can make from this kit. Just 321 on the box and instructions.
    They also put correct rear mud flaps in kit but no mention in instructions.

      Turret numbers are not unique. The same turret numbers got used across different Tiger units, and across different Tigers within the same unit at different times.
      Adam spoke of 2 Tigers in the kit's decal set, not 2 Tigers out of the whole lot of them.

Can't believe the radiator hoses are missing and the fan shroud casings for the tops of the fans! That boy from panzer garage had to rob a lot of parts from his dragon and Academy kits to replace parts! I have learnt not to trust alot of reviews now as alot are rubbish to kits I have built and people said things don't work for example on the bergepanther and bergepanzers I build alot of I love my recovery vehicles he also said the jerry cams were wrong and he had to source new ones? I'll look for this review, but i can tell you this kit is very good. Apart from missing some plumbing it's mostly there. I'm certainly no kit expert, but I know a lot about Tigers. It's the best interior kit there is for Tiger. Always take reviews with a grain of salt, I for instance am very whiny and complain about things others might not.

      One thing to bear in mind is that these tanks were originally all Dunkelgrau. And later, they got interesting white patterned camouflage over the grey. I don't know why Rye Field didn't provide decals for that period - turret numbers in the 200 series, because the tanks belonged to s.Pz.Abt.502 at the time.

      No, they were sent directly from Germany to defend the collapsing front near Stalingrad as an emergency measure. Eventually the 503 acquired them.
      A few of their people ended up with the 502 at Leningrad, but the Tigers never went there.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  Před 7 lety +1

      Yeah I do, that's why sometimes I put a warning up that moderate rivet counting is involved and viewer discretion is advised. This is mostly because like David Byrden and Hilary Doyle I am a Panzer nut/Rivet counter. I make models (3D and Scale hence the name) of Panzers because it's not sensible to have them in my house to learn about them. Although now I have started buying real bits. My videos are meant to be there when people want to know rivet countery stuff as I'm a kit reviewer and adviser to professional modelers and kit manufacturers. I also try to say as much as possible that I don't really care if people choose to not care about the things I care about, to each his own. You seem kind of angry in general man.

      I can see that. It's weird to me though, that you came back with that
      sort of response when I was actually trying to explain my perspective.
      It's a video about a plastic model tank, if you don't like it don't
      fucking watch it. If you're so unhappy with your life that you've
      decided to come on to the internet for some sort of perverted catharsis
      by bullying people in their video comments you may want to consider
      someone else.

      Alright, first of all I apologize for my harsh language, but you did just compare using DStrack to play-dough on your other comment and in another video you outright say "if you don't do this like I do, then why are you building tigers?". This got me somewhat riled up. Second of all, since this was the first video of yours that I saw the rivet counting warning on, I somehow assumed maybe you didn't mean to be very rivet-countery on some of your other videos that I've watched. I have to say mostly the quality of your videos is very high and informative, and I've got some valuable information on different kits out there. I almost bought a Ryefield "Otto Carius" Tiger thanks to this video, but another one where I saw how complicated the tracks are made me decide against it. Also, I like learning about the minutia of different German tanks in WWII, but it somehow got to me that you're knocking off perfectly good tracks such as DStrack and other cementable "rubber band" tracks without even trying them. It doesn't take much skill to cement them with the correct sag.
      I also don't see how my messages came across as bullying, but I guess I should apologize for that too, because that wasn't my intention.

      I have no hard feelings, the playdough comment was meant to mean that I
      don't mind what people use. It's their hobby. I actually use DS on
      reviews, then I replace as it's my preference after the review pics are
      taken. I know why people like them, I just don't. I really do have an
      easy going mentality with this stuff. Hamilkar Barkas and I are very
      good friends, and he doesn't see the point in most of what i do yet we
      get along very well. It may have just been the context. My apologies as
      well.

      Adam Mann Sorry, I must have missed your using them. Sometimes it is hard for me to discern your easy-going mentality from the videos, but I am happy we can end this conversation on good terms.

    Lovely, just lovely. Still, I'm wondering what the painting process would be like for the interior. Lots of stuff! Adam, do you know the mechanics of the ammo bins? Are the drawers or spring loaded? Thanks for sharing!

    really well done, like your after action reports, clever wording. Anyway. did you? or would? you do a video on there tracks? I bought furilmodel tracks for it, didn't like AFV, or model kasten much, I wonder if I could see them built, and see what I'm doing wrong, I might build rye fields tracks. and put the furilmodel tracks on my Tunisian initial tiger by Dragon, and put the DS tracks on my fire pit, lol. Cool review.

      +Clayton McClain I can so something. I did one of tracks a while back but not with these or the Kaizen tracks, so I think I'll do another track video.
