  • The Tapajos Hermit is a rare hummingbird and until now no video of it existed on the internet. We are proud to present the very first video footage of the Tapajos Hermit taken at the world-renowned Cristalino Jungle Lodge. We even filmed this hummingbird feeding on flowers. The Cristalino is located in the Southern Amazon of Brazil where 600 species of birds can be found, so it is a birder’s paradise. In addition to our hummingbird, we saw the elusive Umbrellabird and many other birds.

When last year I told Carole about this hummingbird and how it was discovered, I saw her eyes light up and in that moment I knew this would be our challenge for this year, and the challenge was accepted! It took months of careful planning and organization to bring Carole face to face with this little-known treasure of the Brazilian Amazon Forest, but all the effort was worth it with this exquisite footage by William and Carole's absolutely wonderful photos, thanks again for trusting in work!

Was he catching bugs? The drone footage was absolutely beyond incredible. The Cristalino Jungle Lodge is incredible. It would be an awesome place to live. That Walking Palm Tree was the most interesting tree. And the view from that tower had to have been an incredible place to stand. The turtles were cute. And the Umbrella Bird was just gorgeous. Loved the Cormorants eyes. Thank you Carole for taking us along with you on your adventures! Allowing us to see these incredible places makes life better.

Hi Hummingbird Spot. I've been watching the Live Hummingbird Feeders cam at Sachatamia Lodge, but couldn't post in the chat there without paying to join. It's great for the hummingbirds, but please, can you find someway to bee-proof the feeders? It is the second day in a row that I have seen honeybees drowning inside the feeders and that's not okay (e.g. 5:21 pm today, left-hand feeder). Thanks for your time.
