Sonny and I sailed on MS Spitsbergen (Scotland and Whiskey) April, 2022. The only difference between this voyage and previous is every meal is buffet instead of breakfast/lunch buffets; plated dinner. For this reason in the food video you'll see EVERYTHING served. Nice shots of the upper deck and the glassy sea surface. Had never heard of Hurtigruten before I watched your videos.
My first cruise on Hurtigruten was in 2011 on one of their Bergen-Kirkenes to see the Northern Lights. Saw and was hooked. A few years ago, they began expedition cruises on 2 new ships. You saw one above on an older ship and the other was on Fridjof Nansen Panama Canal-Santiago. Hurtigruten does an excellent job. Great food (particularly fish) and more unusual places. Have (2) more scheduled! One in June and one in July. Don't usually sail on same line 2 times in a row, but the June one only has one date in 2024!

The sea looked very smooth. Lovely ship, just the sort I would enjoy being on. No mega-ships for me. I am unimpressed with what I am seeing of this new Icon of the Seas! Way toooo huge and tooooooo many people! Thank you for the video!
I do not need to sail with 9,999 of my newest friends. Do my best to stick to smaller ships.👍

The only “cheap” cruises are on NCL, RC, large cruise ships, Eddy.

The sunset looks wonderful. How was the solo cruise experience?
It was just fine! I am on Viking Venus right now with son, Michael, and don’t think a Viking ship (890 passengers) would be to my liking. Not as intimate. 👎
The sunset was beautiful ! And I loved the art on your water bottle. I'm just wondering, since you're traveling solo, do you dine alone at night or do you join other people. I've booked a Viking cruise of the Greek Isles for next December and I'll be traveling solo and I think some nights I'd prefer to dine alone but might like to join other people if I meet interesting people on the ship. This will be my first solo trip.
Don’t know Chip, if my first answer ever went through. Internet problems in North Sea because of storms. I did dine alone 99% of the time by choice. This particular cruise had 88 passengers and more than 3/4 spoke German. Met lots of nice people and did breakfast with 1 woman a few times but solo travelers are pretty independent and most sat by theirselves. Majority of passengers on Viking are American, tables and times not assigned so you’ll have no problem! 💕
