The problem is, the locals don't want independence. Mayotte is a case in point. The Mahorans rejected independence from France twice, in 1974 and 1976. The nearby Comoros did go for it, with the result that Comorians are now flocking to Mayotte to rejoin France, as it were.

I went to school in France 22 years ago and this was the rule of law then, they had a very direct way of addressing citizenship. I’m sorry but as an American I think we reserve the right to declare anyone a citizen of our land and can then call themselves Americans. Just because you’re born in France dosen’t male you French at all, it’s absurd. I also had to pay for my own medical care which was far more reasonable then America, they need to go back to that way. Gratitude for being accepted into another country that you contributed nothing too and demanding anything as a right is not a sustainable policy and certainly extremely unfair to the middle class taxpayers because the rich aren’t paying for it and shoving your own people aside for ingrates is criminal! Surely some standards need applied to newcomers.
